Well well well, if it isn't cartoon me!
It was a pleasure collaborating with you Paul. Looking forward to next time!

Hello Cartoon Me 🙋🏻♂️
Woo 🎉 Eric!!
You made the big time and even better cartoon hair! Great break down Eric!
Cartoons are cool.
Little known fact: There were originally 15 atheist non-commandments, but the tablet on which 11-15 were written dropped and broke.
15…I mean 10 commandments!
I think of this every time the commandments are mentioned. Maybe somewhere on that last tablet not owning other people was mentioned. We'll never know.
Actually, god initially wanted to give Moses only three commandments, but Moses expressed his disappointment because he was hoping to get at least 15. So as a good Jew he started haggling and eventually he got home with ten. 😅
I don’t remember where I heard that joke, unfortunately I am very bad at telling them. Feel free to borrow the idea if you know how to improve on it.😊
And what about our ancestors???😊
Dog bless Mel Brooks.
The irony of Sean, an apologist, actually pretending to agree with
"follow the evidence"
"don't believe things just because you want them to be true"
....
It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad..
Considering this is the same Sean who presented as 'atheist' to an apologism class full of students, is not that surprising.
The same dude who has pretended to be an atheist and delivered lectures, as such, to Christian kids.
That’s a liar. He even told of an atheist kid who talked to him after the lecture. Still, it did not seem to occur to him how much of a betrayal this is.
There’s someone, who keeps stating”facts not feelings”, while wearing a kippah. So yeah. It’s nothing new.
@@GeoPePeTtoWhich is why I refer to him as DisinBenuous Shapiro.
As I've also commented on his video, it's fascinating watching someone pay lip service to the value of research and science in understanding the natural world and following evidence where it leads... while limited in the evidence & conclusions he is allowed to accept by Biola's statement of faith, and also uncritically hosting & propping up known creationist liars.
"For fun" is always a screaming admission of the apologists that theyd be willing to torture children
"If YHWH says to do it, ..."
They always mark those trips as for business, not for pleasure.
Not to mention that even that doesn't apply to all humans. From recent events in Ukraine and Israel/Gaza there exists reports of finds of remains of children who seemed have been tortured and killed in ways which can only be attributed to some kind of deprived fun.
Yes all these reports could be fake as a propaganda, but given the number I do feel that there would be some truth to that.
Also I don't think people who would do such a thing would do it knowing it's wrong. If you know you are doing wrong and do it anyway is because you'll gain something. I don't think they would gain something by torturing children (in "fun" way) against just executing them. I don't think it would work as psychological warfare, actually the opposite if you know someone did something like that you will gain new willpower to defend yourself and your loved ones not to give up - if you know that surrender will put you in that situation, you will fight to your last breath.
Yes they sing songs like," lay my Isaac down". About when Abraham went to sacrifice his own son because God told him to. What % of Christians would kill their kid if they thought God ordered them to?
Blind obedience and feelings the religion of no personal responsibility
Why did nobody tell us about those commandments in last week's meeting over at Atheism headquarters?!?
Cause you're not part of the inner circle...

@05:31 There are actually THREE versions of the Ten Words-Exodus 20; Exodus 34; Deuteronomy 5.
Exodus 34:20 is "interesting" from a moral standpoint.
It’s so bizarre when the the theists add the “for fun” to these horrific acts. Why can’t we just say it’s wrong to torture children. Period. If anyone asked me I would say they’re both horrible and disgusting. I don’t need the “for fun” qualifier.
They have to account for God's command and Hell. Assuming God is not doing it for "fun" but rather motivated by love.
So you can for love.
Amazing morals.
To be fair, if it wasn't for the 'for fun' qualifier, there would be situations where one could argue that it is moral to torture a child - things like 'Is it moral to torture a child if it means that a hundred other children are spared torture?'
It is even more bizarre when they also describe morality as 'absolute'. But refuse to drop those weird caviats.
@@tobinfolly901 I would argue thay both things are immoral, one less than the other but immoral nonetheless.
It’s because they have to account for corporal punishment for children, which parents and even schools still practice. “Spare the rod… etc.”
If Christian scholars actually believed in what they say they believe, they wouldn’t have to needlessly strawman every atheist argument, and would engage arguments in good faith. I refuse to believe this many Christian scholars have this much difficulty understanding the atheist arguments. This is willful ignorance, or just outright lying.
If they truly feared an everlasting torture pit dishonesty wouldn’t be so prevalent amongst their group.
Indoctrination trains your brain to not work well. It's conditioning.
Deep down they know that it’s all bs. 😅
This should be the example given when the definition of what a strawman argument is.
Theyre 100% lying obvioiusly, this is just one of their many silly attempts to paint atheism as a cult/religion itself, thinking its some kind of gotcha.
Book: These are “Atheist Non-commandments.”
Sean: The Atheist commandments.
More evidence that I am 100% correct in calling these people liars, formerly known as apologists.
In that case, I think it should be given the benefit of the doubt.
"Read the book?! Who has time for that? I'll just make stuff up!"
I guess that is the same as they do with the bible … take a few random snippets, likely misunderstood and out of context and confabulate on that basis.
Christians taking commandments out of context? To be fair, that's what they did to the Jewish ones, too.
That right there, ladies and gents, is what we call a burn.
Should we expect God to know what the Ten Commandments are?
Which was Jesus's sixth commandment?
(Notice that Jesus lists only the secular commandments that make no mention of God):
1. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself:
If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
(Matthew 19:17-19)
2. Honor thy father and mother:
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honor thy father and mother.
(Mark 10:19)
3. There was no sixth. Jesus listed only five commandments:
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother.
(Luke 18:20)
@@twitherspoon8954 According to Christians, we should expect only that God had a good excuse for why the Bible doesn't match their beliefs. Anything else is putting God to the test.

So, Sean is "lying for jesus". Just another day in the neighborhood.
Like father like son, kent and Eric hovind also spring to mind
I'm shocked SHOCKED I tell you!
Considering Sean cosplays as an atheist “professor” to Christian kids…it tracks.
In what world does "you do you" mean there are no responsibilities and consequences?
In fact I would argue “you do you” has the implication that you should do what you want while accepting whatever consequences arise from it. The person who says “you do you” isn’t shrugging off all responsibility, just any responsibility for your actions
18:25: When Sean says it is wrong to torture a child "for fun" he is implicitly saying it is alright to torture a child to get them to renounce their expressed gender identity or their sexual peference or their lack of religious beliefs. And he has to say the "for fun" because he does endorse the idea that children should be tortured "for God."
This just... isn't true. I think it's wrong to torture a child for fun and also think it's wrong to torture children with conversion therapy.
Your comment is the atheist equivalent of "people are only atheist because they want to sin". It's wildly disingenuous, untrue, and actively avoids addressing the issue at hand.
@@JD-wu5pfThen I dare apologists to drop 'for fun' from their oft repeated argument.
@@RocketboyX Why? "Torturing children for fun" is correct and prevents hypothetical situations from derailing the conversation.
Why should they drop it? It only seems to bother the lowest rung of atheists.
@@JD-wu5pfIt does the exact opposite that you claim, and we both know why theists use the qualifier.
@@RocketboyX It really doesn't. It clearly just replaces one problem (pedantic assholes who will give crazy hypotheticals to win an argument) with another (smug assholes whinging about the modifier), but it certainly doesn't do "the exact opposite."
I just told you why theists do it.
All religions that say lying is a sin, often have very dishonest apologists.
Not according to atheism. Atheism actually encourages lying since the only morality atheism has to offer is get ahead by “any means possible.” When there is no foundation of principle, and atheists default to animalistic instinct, community, morality and purpose go right out the window.
“But God proved his love for us in this; While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 1:4-1:18) ✝️
@@LordOfThePancakes thanks for proving his point. Theists can't help but lie about those who reject their beliefs.
@@LordOfThePancakes Nope, that is christian morality, where the first thing that matter is 'you shall have no other gods before me' by any means necesary, including lying.
'So god loved the world that he sacrificed himself to himself for a mistake he himself commit to begin with'
Nice try though.
another way to say it is, God sacrificed himself to himself to save us from himself.
@@LordOfThePancakes According to atheism? The stance most atheist have is agnostic. Christians say morality comes from God, prove that. Sensible athiest don't say where it comes from but go with evidence of where it comes from. When you make a claim, you adopt the burden of proof. You should not make claims to things you can not prove.
When I left Christianity, I was astonished at how much more meaning and purpose I found in life now that christian mythology was no longer obstructing my view. Sean keeps expressing how unable he is to find meaning and purpose and morality in the world around us, not realizing that he's indicting his own faith. Yes, religion _does_ obstruct believers' view of the meaning and purpose that surrounds us in the world of objective reality. Thank you, Sean, for being so honest about it.
Well said. Exactly my experience as well.
Shaun is interpreting off a source that is an interpretation of another source. Without knowing anything of the original source and the accuracy of the interpretation.
His research is in line with apologetics.
Lying in the furtherance of the faith is a time honored tradition.

I'd like them to define the theist world view. Just the fact that there are, and have been in the past, so many different religions with different and contradicting beliefs would seem to make it impossible to have any consistent world view.
Science is a better technique than prayer for arriving at truth by a factor that is impossible to overstate. All the prayer over thousands of years never got us any closer to Newton's theory of gravitation or the Germ Theory of Disease. And they never would have. In that sense, an approach informed by the scientific method is infinitely better than prayer.
Not to mention the prayers of a billion Hindus don't usually lead to their discovery of the true God, or the Muslims, or the etc.
I saw the title and was immediately like "WTF, how would that even work?", and as I see it doesn't and this is just one guy being especially dumb 😂😂😂
Yep, atheism is not a religion it's just the answer to a question: Do you believe in the existence of god or gods, and the answer is no.
It's the " for fun" part that gets me. Implying that there are legitimate reasons to torture babys.
Mr Diety is doing a series on Low Bar Bill and his arguments for why it was good that god ordered the murder of babies. It is absolutely horrific the lengths William L. Craig will go to to justify the objective morality bullcrap.
It's a sickening way to justify the countless cases of child suffering throughout history. At this point it'd be easier to just embrace the problem of evil and say God is selectively loving because of some excuses. Maybe the Fall. They love blaming the fall.
I think it was just “torture babies” at first, but then someone pointed out that God does this in the Bible through events like the flood.
No, it’s not because of ancient history. It’s because corporal punishment for children is still popular among sections of Christians. I heard that it’s still in use in some schools.
Are these comments getting riled up about the "for fun" bit AI generated or something? Why do so many people care about that phrase? It's used all the time in hypotheticals to prevent pedantic nerds from coming up with hyper specific situations to undermine the point being made.

"CNN new atheist commandments"
Wait! What were the old CNN atheist commandments?
Holy balls, the word objective was bent over and just railed over and over. I'm glad Paul's guest addressed this, and did so with elequence.
Most Christians, I myself was one of them, are brought up taught to believe that, yes, you are worthless without God. Even as an ex-Christian now, I really struggle with seeing value and worth in myself. I never built those muscles for myself, and therefore my worth has ALWAYS been determined outside of myself. Sean might very well feel worthless if god was proven to be false
Humans are intrinsically worthless, and I think the fact that we find our own worth and value in this vast, uncaring, indifferent universe is a beautiful thing.

Let’s not forget that Sean has pretended to be “an atheist professor” to an audience at a Christian college. He saw no issues with doing this and more than once, too.
Basically, he lied to a bunch of kids while strawmaning “the other side”. He even mentions an atheist kid who was in the audience and spoke to him afterwards and still did not see how much of a betrayal this is.
As someone who was a kid in Catholic school, such a stunt would have been an insult, at best.
So all this talk of “pursuing truth” is just absurd coming from him.
And he didn’t bother steelmanning the atheist position. Or, if he did, it shows how little he understands the atheist perspective.
@@Rhewin All he did was strawman it. Dude even wore glasses, that he does not normally wear, because it was cosplay.

@@Nocturnalux normally he presents it as the “Atheist Experience” for churches, and they know what he’s doing. For some reason his professor buddy thought the deception would be a good idea. Genetically Modified Skeptic at least was grateful that Sean’s message was about listening to atheists instead of talking over them, but also found it disappointing they weren’t willing to talk to a real atheist.
@@Rhewin I was an atheist in Catholic school, if he had pulled this stunt on me, I would have been angry beyond belief.
Even done once, it is very telling that he could just stand there for over an hour, lying to kids.
I mean, forget how unfair this is to atheists. It is disrespectful to the audience. There was even an atheist girl who came talk to him after the lecture and he still did not see how gross this was to her.
My personal version of the "do unto others" "commandment" is "Do unto others as they would have you do unto them." Not unlike the 8th "(non-) commandment" mentioned.
As I explain it, I enjoy a good ham sandwich, and if you gave me one, I'd really appreciate it. But for my Jewish and Muslim friends, it's no treat at all -- and for my friends with Celiac Disease, it could become a medical emergency.
So, ask. Communicate. Find out what your neighbors want and need, and do what you can to help.
I didn't even know we had commandments. I thought we are the proverbial herd of cats. 😂
I have to say that I, for one, am very grateful to Sean for this wonderful example of the quality of the research being conducted at Biola "University". With such lofty and impeccable standards of academic rigor, it's little wonder that this august institution is able to attract intellectual leviathans such as Sean and Mr. William Lane Craig.

And, the article is TEN FREAKING YEARS OLD!
Lmao at the Dr Evil inserts.
People who can't determine right from wrong are called sociopaths/psychopaths because they lack empathy, not because lack "god".
Sean's "objective good" includes proselytizing even when people say, "no thanks, heard it". He might go so far (but doesn't say out loud) as to think forcing people to believe what he believes is loving.
You had me at your first comment about how atheists would respond to hearing we have commandments!!! How completely ridiculous.
"All truth is proportional to the evidence".
More like all belief is or at least should be proportional to the evidence.
Truth itself is the horizon where we want to point our beliefs, hopefully better and better approximating it with time.

Torturing for fun is wrong.. but Sean's god can't be torturing people to help them. The torture never ends. There's no necessity to it. God could have set things up differently and, indeed, changing the setup was the point of Jesus' theatre.

@Paulogia: This is such an excellent review. I look forward to further examinations of how the 10 Commandments may be improved on. I've also created my own improvement to The Golden Rule, which I call The Golden Preference: "Strive to treat others in accordance with their preferences." I don't like the idea of calling this sort of attitude a "rule," so I chose to call it a "preference" and I carefully chose to use the word "strive" to emphasize the general fact that it may not be possible to achieve goals despite our best efforts. I believe that if people navigate through life with better intentions that this should increase the potential for a higher volume of better outcomes. (I added your video to one of my UA-cam Playlists that's featured on my UA-cam channel home page.)
Since when does "bodily autonomy" conflict with "be mindful of how others are affected"?
18:19 As soon as he said "torture a child", I knew "for fun" was coming right after. These professional apologists *always* put it that way. Because they have to, since their god is perfectly fine with torturing children.
21:05 How is nakedness harming people? This is pure nonsense.
28:00 This is interesting. Sean is to be committed to your objective best. Which *he* gets to determine, and impose on you. This is just his excuse for doing whatever *he* wants to do.
35:30 Christians absolutely do *not* agree on the 10 Commandments, neither what they are nor what they mean.
This could go a couple of ways:
1) Some atheist or organization made an actual list
2) They're observations about atheists that generally tend to be true.
If it's 2, I hope it's insightful.
"He's not out to challenge himself" is such a harsh indictement of Sean's character. I agree with Eric. I think Sean is never looking to challenge his views, and really test them.

Great content too. Greetings and thanks from a regular viewer in South Africa. P.S. Hi Shannon. Gosh, your laugh is contagious! Thanks for the smiles. And love your demeanor - Fair, fierce and funny. x
