As he entered the kitchen in tow of bubbuh, their little tank as he was affectionately called, a bemused smile crossed her face at the failed attempt at ‘secrecy’. She loved watching him interact with their kids, he was so sweet and playful-
The teasing kisses were sweet, and yes, it was kinda funny that the kids thought it gross- at least for now…
When he went to try and see what his Fathers-Day dinner was, she smacked his hand with the wooden spoon. “A fathers-day surpri- hey? Did you jus hit me with the sp- really? With the wooden spoon..?” “Yes with the wooden spoon!” She protested playfully, “it’s a surprise.” She retorted, laughing at his reaction.
“Well yeah I didn’t let you know what I was makin you for Mother’s-Day but I didn’t hit you with a spoon…” “well you did smack my bottom~” she whispered, laughing again at his slightly flustered reaction.
As the topic changed to the kids going to Grandma’s “Oh Grandma’s supposed to come in and kidnap you? Without making any noise… hm..” he said and turned to her with a slight grin “now under whose orders were those, I wonder?~” he said, a knowing look in his eye as she batted her eyes innocently at him. “Who me?~” she asked teasingly, “ho- yeah I see that innocent look on your face~” he said, grinning at her again and laughing.
The conversation turned once more from the in-laws to Father’s Day presents from the kiddos, she smiled slightly at his reaction to the letter tiles, nodding to confirm that yes, twas she that put them there. “I see those misty eyes, careful or I’ll have to call you ‘Dread pirate wet beard’ again haha..” she whispered to him affectionately before the kids came back with their presents for him.
His reactions to them were so sweet… the Superman outfit was definitely on point- he was definitely super, and like a papa bear too, and his consoling their little girl about the mug not holding water? Amazing compromise.
The tie was also amazing, sharp colors and bright shapes? “Honey how did he make me a tie..?” He asked, confused and maaaaybe a touch concerned, “fabric markers.” She replied with a grin.
She had to smile once more at helping him with the tie- “Hey- what’s with that word mister?” She said, her voice playful as she called out the word ‘fat’.
Once Grandma had come for the kids, and hugs had been exchanged between father daughter and son, “they’re such good kids..” he said as they left, and she nodded in agreement, “yeah, I don’t think I could’ve gotten luckier…” “you mean that?” She asked, smiling at him as he stood from crouching to hug the kids goodbye. “Yeah I mean that.. I get to have you as my wife, this lovely house that we built together, this lovely home… and these incredible kids…”
Turning to in-laws once again, “-I don’t think I could’ve gotten luckier on that front either, your parents are great people, and I. Adore them. And I’m so glad that they like me too.” He said and she smirked slightly “they tolerate you honey~” she said teasingly, giggling to herself at his reaction.
“Oh- you got me a present as well?” He asked when she revealed that she had, and she nodded, “well lemme see it then,” he said, visibly interested, but she shook her head “that’s for later honey~” “oh it’s for later huh?~” he asked and the wiggled her brows at him “mhmmm~ unless… you don’t mind waiting a little for dinner.~” she said suggestively, taking a step back in a very specific direction.~ “oh my… yeah dinner can wait..~ I am…” “oh get upstairs bear~” she said, backing a step or two up towards that specific room. “G- yeah- yes ma’am, yes ma’am, I am on my way upstairs I will see you soon-“
“Best Father’s Day everrr!~” she herd him say as she retreated up the stairs to.. get his present ready..~
She had to admit, this was definitely the best Father’s Day she could remember.
Ok pardon my outburst but *_YOU WOULD BE SUCH A GOOD DAAAD AAAAAAAH-_* even with an improved scene like- it feels so naturallll- and the banter with the listener? Pique!!

I loved that story so much! Thank you! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you! I've always wanted to be a Dad so I appreciate you saying that about me. It might have something to do with it, it might not :P. I did get to spend Father's Day with my family! I had my tooth looked at, it's going to be very expensive to fix but I should be able to fix it. Hopefully.
