- In this video i'm joined by the team from Dometic who have kindly agreed to showcase their brand new Rally Air Tour awning for 2025. This video is a quick walkthrough and chat with the team behind the product.
You can see this awning in person at the 2024 Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC this coming October.

Oh dear, sounds like the bank balance will take a hit. Absolutely love the look of this. A really thorough review with great questions from you. It will be interesting to hear what you think in the spring.
Great video Dan, we've had a Kampa/Dometic air 290 since 2017...only issue we had was a burst center roof pole at the same time ripping the roof open, this happend during the extremely hot summer we had a couple of years ago, I believe this was due to expansion from the excessive heat.
I must say Dometic service was excellent the awning was returned to them, the pole and the roof repaired at no cost and returned all within 3 weeks...looking forward seeing this new version at the end of this month.
Thank you Dan for another very interesting blog, I’m still sitting on the fence to buy an air awning as I’m so unsure, I will give this one some research and see what other sizes are coming out.
I love our club air 440, and having had experience of dometic air awnings when they first come out, the modern versions are much much improved. I do like the new colours.
Always loved our Dometic/ Kampa Pro L/H but as 2 disabled pensioners fading fast we cannot put it up due to weight (& we have shrunk!) Had to sell it. Have gone for a much much lighter weight air canopy. Admittedly not so much weather protection but we pack our extras & pick our holiday time acvordingly. Used this summer & suited us well with an airbreak for the extra protection.
Our Kampa never had water pooling with the double angle roof or condensation issues & detachable curtains are good but MUST be easy glide.
Interested to watch this but will never go back to awning from canopy
Great very informative review, great to here from the manufacturers themselves on the details in design
Be good to know how the weight is affected by the new fabric Dan, thanks.
Looks a great bit of kit thanks Dan
I heard that analogy regarding the carrot and radish with a youtube video regarding an Isabella sun canopy a little while ago! (Attwoods?)
I agree great awning.
A really useful video, thank you!
Lovely looking awning, we have had a Vango Kalari 2 but the roof light windows deteriorated and split, although this Dometic is a very nice awning, I'm put off by the two roof windows.
We have a Kampa Pro 260 never had any issues. When on hard standing pitches we always put a plastic damp proof membrane down under our awning carpet stops the damp coming up from the ground.
Hope the stitching is better than my previous Domestic Rally 380. I had to return it and the replacement wasn't much better ... The fabric started to fade after 4 weeks use, obviously this one is a lighter colour ... The dual piping feed for the awning rail is an absolute nightmare. The unused channel piping for motorhomes fitment grips against the caravan when pulling it into the awning channel ... Finally even though its ripstop fabric it looks much thinner than my current Dometic. So I'm not sure. I think its gonna be Isabella for me next time 🤔
Great video Dan. I've gone off awnings due to the faff and having had 2 damaged.
Not a huge fan of the grey, thought we got over that now. Id like a bit more colour init
So they have made their awnings look like vango awnings with the same colour and material. I've had my air vango awning for 9 years now and still going strong
Also never gelled with my Kampa Rally, it always dipped and pooled water. Both standard one and pro one did the same.
It would have been good to see it on uneven ground, somewhere like sandygulls in Norfolk, if it works there it will work anywhere.
Looks like Dometic has caught up after taking ideas from Telta awnings.
We’ve a Telta Soul and it knocks the socks off the Dometic current awning’s.
Great video Dan. Love this sort of stuff! We have an old Kampa air ace that we bought second hand and have been looking for a newer alternative recently. This new version answers so many of the old complaints and looks really smart. Would be interested to know the size options, weights and costs. Thanks
Hopefully I should be able to answer some of those questions when I borrow one next year, but details will be out soon on the Dometic website, and also dometic dealers too.
Brlliant vlog!
I have an air canopy now as an air awning was too heavy when wrapping it up.
Looks like a Vango I have the Balletto Prosheild lots of similarities
Id love to know if rain water really does not pool on the roof. Im happy with my dometic air awning but water consistently pools when it rains - very annoying. if this one doesnt collect water I will buy one
A very nice looking product with some good improvements from previous models. How is the weight as my last air awning which was a 400 in length needed two people to lift it when in the bag & what possible cost.
Sadly dont kno wthe "tech specs" just yet, More details will be out on the Dometic website and also the dealers will be getting the information too.
Hi Dan I've had to move to a seasonal pitch recently, do you know if this material is suitable for being erected for 8 months per year without damage?
Thats a great question. And personally, I dont know - I think in seasonal occasions, pole is best.
In new zealand , I don't like it light roof. With our sun and high UV ,we would bake under neath it. So a no go product for us over summer
Looks like they just brought a TELTA and made it a different colour
I'm going to stick with my isabella magnum i think its going to last forever
Don't bother with Dometic, get yourself a Telta awning
Sorry look too scripted
I take that as a credit, thank you. You should see the literal 4 hours of footage that i recorded of us babbling on. - Glad i made somthing that came across scripted.
@@TheTrudgiansglad you took the time and effort to get all the information across in what was clearly intended as being a mainly informative video about a specific product.
