As a huge Pikmin fan, Pikmin 4 looks to be an amazing addition to the series. Seems like it has improved on almost every aspect on past games, and has a great blend of returning and new features, enemies, mechanics, etc.
It seems like they just took Pikmin 2s concepts and unique mechanics and ran with them while also incorporating stuff from throughout the 1st and 3rd fame
I agree with almost everything, just the auto lock and the overthrow prevention are definitely not an improvement. If only they didn't force these 2 mechanics on us and instead made them optional...
On the topic of waiting, one of the main goals of the game is *"dandori"* which basically effecient multitasking. Part of the fun is planning your tasks out so that you arent sctually waiting, because your pikmin will move stuff without you once you tell them to.
I legit got flabbergasted when he stopped throwing ice pikmin into the water. Like even if he didn't know that could do something, there was a the UX element that updated as he threw more in so... dunno why he stopped
You dont need to put the pikmin in the onion before night time if you have them in your party or in circle around the base they will automatically go in the onion
Tips for choc: you don’t have to put the Pikmin away before night, they just have to be in your squad or your onion; that last dungeon you can bring yellows you just had a full squad; and the ice Pikmin are new.
Yeah, I especially loved when the big sand worm in Pikmin 3 (what was its name again? Burrowing Sandbag or something?) spit out that watermelon, and it just split into pieces lol
-We all get the same planet -If you multitask a lot its not as much waiting as youd think (specially if you train oatchi's buff a lot -You dont need to put pikmin in the onion at night time, as long as they're close to the base or in your squad (or even buried in the ground) theyre safe
18:55 it's actually better to just go off and do other stuff whilst pikmin are taking stuff back, they usually avoid routes with hazzards so you can just leave them be.
It’s cool to see how open the Demo was. I made it to the Dandori battle but Choc completed a dungeon that I didn’t. Really cool to see the different people having different experiences.
In Pikmin 3 Deluxe, there's a route I take, and part of that route is going past a bunch of Pyroclastic Slooches. The path the Pilmin take leads to them being extremely close to the Slooches, but just far away that they don't get chased after. Every time the Pikmin carry an item on that trail, I just follow after them while frantically looking at the Pikmin counter.
I'm amazed Pikmin has survived as long as it has, but I'm glad, cause I feel like every game is a substantial step up in most ways. I wasn't that excited for this game till I played the demo, now I'm replaying 3 on my Wii U, 4 is shaping up to be my favorite, I think it's controls are just so much more accessible.
When I found Oatchi, I LITERALLY said "Well, that's the end of the game. We saved THE CHOSEN ONE!" Then I closed out of the game and said "And nothing of value was lost!"
So long as the pikmin are in the circle around the base, they won’t die once it becomes nighttime. There is no need for putting them back in the onion if all of them are in the circle
You can actually complete everything in that entire area if you just avoid collecting sparklium. That’s what I’ve been doing and it’s been fun. I’ve finished all the caves so now im going to move everything super close to the base and collect it all in one go.
5:43 Collin (choto): " Upon investigating The interior of the ship I discovered I had left chicken In the oven for a little bit too long." Shepherd: "Oh no will it be ok?" Collin (choto): Well the chicken is ruined and the oven is overheated So I initiated a emergency shutdown We'll have to order a pizza." Got me dying bro
Everyone's home planet, regardless of character created, is Karut (like carrot, I imagine, since the pikmin are based on "pik-pik carrots"?) It doesn't look like any of the planets people are from are random. Also, it seems the people you rescue is set in a certain order, the first person is always the scientist regardless of which cave you go to, etc etc.
Also *DEMO SPOILERS FOR ADVICE AHEAD* You can 100% area one and get the blue pikmin in the demo, but the latter requires you to give Oatchi Buff lvl 3 so he can pull with the strength of ten pikmin.
@@fey5252 you can theoretically get 6000 sparklium in the demo since it only ends when you end a day with 1500 or more and you can bring enemy corpses to the ship in caves for sparklium
Did you know you can get all 3 Og onions at the start of the game? The blue onion is separated with water but you can use 30 ice pikimin and you need a squad limit of at least 40,and 10 of red Pikmin so you can fight the fiery blow hog easily, and then you’ll need your 10 reds and oatchi(if you upgraded his grab power to Lv.3) you can take it to the main onion and gain blue pikmin. I plan on doing that once I get my preorder
18:52 Ah you see, you have yet to master the art of Dandori. The point is that you don't really have to sit there and watch the Pikmin while they do their task. Once you've got the pikmin working on one task, leave them and find something else to do instead.
Pikmin 4 is looking AWESOME. Also, unless Pikmin 4 ends the story of Pikmin, I have an idea for the story of Pikmin 5 based off a dream I had last night. The story starts with your character having lived on the Pikmin planet for a long time. They've grown many Pikmin, collected many treasures, and built a large base that keeps their ship and the Onions safe from enemies. By the time of the first cutscene, they've lived on the planet for a full year. However, that night, they hear a lot of noise, and look outside to see enemies of all sorts breaking into the base and attacking the Pikmin. Your character manages to get a few into the ship and escape, but the rest of the Pikmin and the Onions are left behind. The rest of the game consists of collecting parts to repair your damaged ship and find and repair the damaged Onions, as well as building a newer, better base to keep the Pikmin safe. The final boss would probably be a huge raid on your new base. I feel like losing a lot of Pikmin is something that hasn't really been explored storywise.
Oh, that word, "Biomass", always reminds me of a Flash game called "Galaxy Harvest". in that game you plant "biomass" on different plants, then "harvest" it to get money for upgrades. BUT, those planets will eventually evolve sentient life that start making warships you have to fight! strangely, you need to LET them get to higher levels before defeating them in order to earn "Tech Points", that you need to unlock better ships! one of the best techs, IMO, is the "armored harvester", which enables you to "harvest" biomass from planets WITH sentient life!
You don't have to put the pikmin away at the end of days. Pikmin who are safe: Pikmin who are with you and/or oatchi, pikmin who are within the safety circle near base. Pikmin who are unsafe: Any pikmin who are outside you and/or oatchi's squad, and pikmin who are outside the base safety zone. There is an unsafe pikmin counter top left during the last moments of the day. If this is above 0, open the map and locate missing pikmin. Every pikmin is worth saving, as it won't cost anything to go out there to try and save it.
My favorite Gameboy Advance games growing up were the Megaman Zero series. So many great memories of playing them while riding in the car or sitting by the camp fire
As long as the pikmin are within the circle of the base they won’t get eaten meaning you don’t have to return em to the onion they also don’t get eaten as long as they are in your squad
Ice and Glow are New and debuting in this game. Purple and Whites were introduced in 2, and as you said Pikmin 3 you played, Rock and Pink debuted in that one. Red, Blue and Yellow have been in the series since the first
I will say everyone has the same planet of Karut. I checked myself. The real interesting thing is that whichever color suit you choose is the color suit that all the Rescue Corp wear. I noticed that when deciding to play throughout a second time and changing the suit from red to blue. Interesting stuff
When Choctopus plays the entire PIKMIN 4 game, he'll need to learn to take better care of Oatchi. He's not doing a very good job as evidenced by what happens at 10:19 and 14:06. Even though I was LMFAO at those parts! Especially when Choc screams "NO DON'T EAT HIM!!! OH THE HUMANITY!!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In order of release, Pikmin 1 had red yellow and blue, two had white and purple, three had wings(pink) and rock(black). Ice(light blue?) and glow Pikmin(light green?) are the new ones.
I didn't know that your color pick effects A LOT! I picked orange and seeing all the green in this vid made me go "That color choice IS THE MOST IMPORTANT CHOICE!"
