Worst case scenario, you can do a D/GM PC for a couple sessions with them to pull the narrative in a certain direction. I know some circles frown on it... but hey it is tool in the DM box and if used right it gives the characters a story hook, someone to backstab them or someone to care about (and potentially mourn...)
Oh man, i feel the same. My group love this system, but every time we wanna play pathfinder, i'm the DM. This sucks, i love Psyche, Magus and Taumaturge; but I don't play the game (as a player) in so many years.
Those "when you die, come back" feats were handled really well in 4e. Instead of some feat you take that revives you months or a year later, they're epic destiny class features that say something like "once per day, when you die, come back to life with a bunch of hit points and activate some cool bonus." Almost makes getting killed during a big fight a tactical decision to try and get a timely boon, which is both hilarious and awesome.
I loved the one for some sort of trickster archetype where it was like "once per day, when you die, it was really your stunt double and the real you walks in the room on there next round"
15:07 Addendum to Psi Burst: it has the Mindshift trait, which means that it can be "mindshifted" to do mental damage instead of bludgeoning - and when it does that, it goes against Will rather than Reflex. Basically, Psi Burst can be used to attack the weaker of the two saves for maximum effectiveness, and also to get around existing resistances. Which is awesome.
41:06 the whole party is Psychics. The BBEG is the only one left who remembers them. They keep coming back and fighting them until they win by running away immediately afterwards.

In regards to Violent Unleash's Stun (I assume my previous comment got flagged by an automod feature for having links to the Archive of Nethys, so I'm repeating it without the links): Unleash Psyche has the trigger "Your Turn begins". As per the Rules of how the start of a turn works: "[...] At the start of each of your turns, take these steps in any order you choose: [...] You can use 1 free action or reaction with a trigger of “Your turn begins” or something similar. [...] The last step of starting your turn is always the same. Regain your 3 actions and 1 reaction. [...]" The "Stack" for Unleash psyche as such would be: 1. Your turn begins. 2. You use Unleash Psyche wit the trigger "Your turn begins". 3. You use Violent Unleash, with the trigger "You Unleash your Psyche." and become stunned 1. 4. You get your actions, but reduce the actions gained by one because of stunned, thus removing your stunned condition. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to do anything during the turn you use violent unleash, because the stunned condition also says: "You can't act while stunned" Long story short, Violent Unleash affects the actions in the turn when you use Violent Unleash.
The most important aspect of Ancestral Mind is actually the fact that it makes the ancestry spells become occult spells I think. That way they should improve with your Occult proficiency level. Ramp up those spell attacks/saves? Yes please!
Innate Spells already use the highest Spell DC, even if they aren't the same tradition. That's in the rules under Innate Spells. I've always believed all Innate Spells should use your Class DC regardless of anything else.

@@davidecolucci6260 raw yes, and it'd make a suprising amount of sense. Question is if the eilodon is considered to have a level Edit: no, you don't 'summon' an eilodon, you manifest it nvm
Just a quick point: Mental Balm states it has to target you or +1 party members, AND can't target/effect any enemies. So I think it's more meant to be used for a support psychic using amped shield or message.
"You're level 18, chances are the enemies you're fighting don't have 30 hit points." You don't know how 'skilled' my group is at spreading around the damage equally...
I mean, they wont necessarily know you´re casting a spell for psychic rapport, because you cast them silently, not with words like other spellcasters do.
Become Thought is the best "Oh, SHIT!!!" button I've ever seen in all the games I've played and I'm 38 years old, I've played the majority of D&D systems and many multiples more RPG video games.
It is worth noting that on all of the class feats with the psyche trait, you can only use them when your Psyche is Unleashed. Feats like Wandering Thoughts and All In Your Head are only usable while you are in your Unleashed Psyche mode.
13:48 I get the intent of the example here, but Mental Balm can only be applied to cantrips that DON'T target enemies. You could use it on something like Guidance (or Time Sense!) but not on damaging cantrips.
Someone else may have already said this point... but one point about the Stunned condition in regards to Violent Unleash, "you can't act while stunned" means that if you get stunned mid turn even if you have actions left you can't use them. This is one of the big differences from Slowed. Slowed won't ever effect the turn you're currently taking but Stunned can just STOP your turn. This is why Monk's readying Flurry of Blows can be INTENSE.

In a PF 1e game, i had a party running from some drow in the underdark, until they were cornered at an ancient dwarven magma forge. The party mage used Unatural Lust to make the drow lust after the statue adorning the center of the forge. He rolled a 1 to resist, and waded into magma to get at it. Funniest shit i ever saw
@Nonat's You haven't mentioned it but psychic get half the spells per level as a normal spontaneous spellcasters. (That is why all their feats are so broken compared to other spellcasters, and that they have free focus points). So 14th lvl conscious spell specialization isn't that bad.
Okay I just came up with a cool low lv build. You must be lv4 and must have free archetype on. 1. Be a psychic 2. Get the summoner dedication and choose beast you'll see why 3. At level 4 choose the initial Edison ability. 4. At level 4 select thoughtful summon as your class ability. Now injoy having a creature with the ability to charge at anyone within 20ft regardless of enemy.
Conscious spell specialization is much better than you give it credit for simply because the Psychic gets less spell slots than all other full casters. If you subclass gives you some banger low level spells it’s even better
This class kicks ass. Love the flavour, love how customisable it is, and love how powerful and synergistic it is with other archetypes and with your allies! It's also pretty complicated lol, but totally worth it!
Me, coming here because I learned of Battlezoo: Dragons and am doing a practice build and my easiest existing character to fit is a psionic so I know how things work to try and convince my party to play Pathfinder if not Mutants and Masterminds
Just wanna say I really appreciate these. Ive been systematically catching up as Im considering running my next game in PF2, and I really need to know the player options.
Inertial Barrier seems like it might be better if you are also taking Astral Conduit to tack the resist 5 onto a character in the thick of things. It can also be used as an amp on shield to double down on preventing damage. Deep Roots also applies to multi target spells, so if you disable a bunch of minor enemies with Hypnotic Pattern it has a good chance of catching a couple with a crit fail. If that happens they take the damage when the spell ends, even if it's just because you weren't able to sustain it.
Become Tought could let you overcome death by old age if die and come back younger since the living creature probably remember you when you where younger. A former level-20 psychic that came back at low level could even be a whole character concept.
One thing I was kind of tossing the idea around with is either a Thaumaturge with Psychic Dedication or Psychic with Thaumaturge dedication to use Dancing Blade and Exploit Vulnerability/Glimpse Vulnerability. I'm assuming this should work, couldn't get any benefit of using weapon implement on the floating dancing blades but have other utility options could be fun. Even having a weapon implement for reactions but attacking with the dancing blades could be neat.
I think the most notable part of NO!!! is that it seems to be the only way you can unleash your Psyche on the first turn. If your party is ambushed and someone is instantly knocked out before you even get your turn, you can come out swinging at max power in your very first actions. Still wildly situational, though.
I think for Counter Thought, you unfortunately DO need to know the spell in question. If you don’t, you have to wait until your turn to identify it, at which point it will be too late to counter it. Even if you were to Ready to Identify a Spell, that would use up your reaction. I think the true benefit of Counter Thought is that you can expend a slot of any level to do it (though presumably expending a low-level slot to do this lowers your counteract level).
From what I can tell, lower level spells would make it harder. While the level doesn't affect the check itself, using a 1st-level spell to counteract a 5th-level effect, for instance, wouldn't do anything even if you crit succeed at the check itself (crit success = counteract if no more than 3 levels higher than your effect's counteract level, which is equal to the spell level)
"Quickened, slowed, and stunned are the primary ways you can gain or lose actions on a turn. The rules for how this works appear on page 462. Unfortunately, you don't actually gain 'Stunned' in the middle of your turn for Violent Unleash. It's done during the start-of-turn step, which is before you regain your actions (the final thing done in starting your turn - CRB pgs 468/469). Violent Unleash causes you to lose your action the same turn you use it. Which is actually fortunate, because, as someone else pointed out, you can't act while you're stunned any amount.
@@okagisama Yeah, it requires people to know the turn structure and how stunned works pretty well. It would be a massive help even if they had just put in a line about how it causes you to lose your action the same turn.
Psi Strikes seems a bit easier to use than the equivalent from other classes. It doesn't require that the spell be a non cantrip so wouldn't that mean you could cast shield as a first action then get the extra d6 on two strikes?

It makes little sense that you exhaust your mind and only next round feel the effects of it, but I certainly see the reasoning behind it lagging a turn. Yes, Violent Unleash affects your next turn. The way that Stunned works, it triggers at the start of your turn when you would gain actions to reduce the number of actions you would gain by X. So, if you become Stunned during your turn, those lost actions are lost on your next turn.

Finally, please add your editors info to the Description. Concern for their safety and well being requires more transparency. #ADHDersUnite
You are correct on the stunned 1. The difference is you also can't take reactions in the meantime. This is what makes it different from slowed, which doesn't stop your reactions AND starts at the beginning of your next turn.

If you get the fringes of the definition lol. The primordial conduit is focused around elemental connections. Can you guess EOG was working on it before WotE was announced? Lol

Hey, that's Eldritch Osiris Games! I wonder what kind of cool and super attractive people run it. I'm sure their product is great✨
You are correct on the stunned 1. The difference is you also can't take reactions in the meantime. This is what makes it different from slowed, which doesn't stop your reactions AND starts at the beginning of your next turn.
Evzar the he'll read that sponsors intro.

Wish they had multiclass in Pathfinder 2E.
They do, they're just called class archetypes now.
I squish your face! The epic duel!
I totally would've spent the whole video using telepathy just to make less work for myself 😂
