Hi, so i have a question. How would you go about answering a question that goes like: An angle section with dimensions 100 x 75 x10 is connected to a gusset plate with a 10 mm weld. If the ultimate force in the member is 500 kN, use E70XX weld and S355JR steel to check the adequacy of the section. Thickness of the plate is 20 mm? Would appreciate your input.
Check the capacity of the section by solving for capacity for Gross Sectional Yielding and the Welded connection. Then compare them with 500kN. If the capacities of the section and and the welds are higher than 500kN, then it is adequate. If either or both the capacities are/is less than 500kN, then it is inadequate 😊
@@zaifarmanalas1854 hello! The reference table used in the video from came from a western book and apparently not entirely conforming with NSCP 2015. I will try to cross examine the ref table with NSCP 2015. Apologies for the confusion! P.S. Gagawa po ako ng bagong video na specific po for latest code ng NSCP.

hindi ba magkaiba ang phi ng longitudinal sa transverse? at hindi ba sila magkaiba ng formula?
555.2-19 (Longitudinal Fillet)
Pn=0.75tLFu, phi=0.6
555.2-20 (transverse)
Pn=tLFu, phi=0.65
sir, is this an old or new code?
Sir how about po Ung pagdetermine ng length. For transverse or combination Ano po Ung magagamit na U factor po?

thank you sir!
thank you
Good day sir, ask lang po if may application kayo for L effective? para sa welded for longitudinal and transverse?
Slr. By application, do you mean software? Or example? Hehehe
0.6Fexx? Nsp2?

Glad to be of help. :)
USEFULL!
THANK YOU!!!!
