    I love living on maui it's got the best weather & women on Earth! One of the inconveniences is I'm on a different spot on Earth and every time somebody has a live feed on UA-cam I'm still at work. I.e. 6 hours later than the East coast! 3 hours later than California! To my favorite UA-cam channel! Thank you!

    Mr. Vizard, Much respect here, Thank you for taking the time to explore and develop this cylinder head. I daily drive an '85 GLH Turbo and it is an absolute blast. Mine has been treated to the next iteration of this cylinder head the "swirl" Combustion chamber casting and mine is intercooled and set up much like an '86 Shelby GLHS Omni. Once again thanks for these videos.
    I am also much into the Chrysler Slant 6 engines and plan to port a cylinder head for my '70 Duster. Will employ the knowledge that I collect here!

    I don’t know how I’ve just found this now. I’ve been a huge fan of DV since I got into Minis in the 80s (but still a kid). DV doesn’t hide a thing. He just spills his knowledge to the world! If any of the younger viewers are wondering what this older gent has to offer, you’re not looking hard enough. If you’ve heard of Dave Mountain (or specifically Mountune) then know he was one of DV’s apprentices! So happy I’ve found this channel!

    Hey David, I see your editor has stepped his spelling game up 😜 I was beginning to think grade school kids had the job ;) I cant wait for the 421 build, as I need inspiration for my Vega which has a vacant engine bay currently, and coincidently I was eyeing off some discounted Chevy 400 blocks the other day too..

    Ok I see what you are saying. You opened the flow a lot. Ok this is boosted.how does the swirl come in on the boosted motor. Turbo pushes naturally aspirated pulls. This is why I watch you so I can find out the facts from a person who knows what they are talking about. Thank you for your time and going to enjoy your work on this. Most of all I can’t wait to see the arm chair pros fix this for you. I forgot to ask you dose the boost make the swirl on this?

    • @rocketsurgeon11
      @rocketsurgeon11 2 роки тому

      Both a N/A and a boosted engine work the same. You have a higher pressure area trying to fill a lower pressure area. More accurately you have a higher density volume trying to equalize a lower density volume. Make it easier for the higher density volume to fill the lower one, you will probably make more power (give you can get it out, too).

    Great video! It would be great if David could cover the big block Chevy peanut port head. Richard holdener did a fairly impressive peanut port build and I wonder what David could squeeze out of them.. maybe larger valves, port/bowl cleanup? The supply of reasonable oval port heads is drying up.. no one want the peanut ports, but I’m not a rich man either… Can David make a silk purse out of a sows ear? Thanks!

    Great video David. Would I be correct in thinking that the missing swirl has transformed into tumble? Or do you suspect that the airflow is now chaotic? I often think that we focus on swirl because it is very easy to measure and quantify. Tumble however is much more difficult to measure and quantify so I feel that we overlook it. I often wonder what difference we get in performance between heads designed for tumble vs swirl? I realise that this question is like asking you how long the bit of string is that I am holding here whilst writing this, but maybe you could give us some information based on the basic principles/characteristics of the two different methodologies. Thanks again for another great video. Regards from Perth, Western Australia, Greg

    • @marvingvx1
      @marvingvx1  2 роки тому +1

      Greg, been to Perth (love it) about 4 times over the last 30 years. Have a good friend their. But to answer you question - no tumble of any consequence either.

    • @andyharman3022
      @andyharman3022 2 роки тому

      Tumble is not generally a characteristic of 2-valve wedge combustion chambers. Maybe hemis and 4-valve pent-roof chambers, but they have to be designed for it.

    Am I to logically assume that this info applies to all turbo set-ups? One would obviously need to know WHAT the air is doing in their particular assembly. But it seems to me, having watched all of your video's, that, within reason, this information translates. As an example, I'm contemplating how to apply this to a Chevy LY6 engine (6.0 block, LS3 square port heads). I have some, and want to make a torque monster out of one, for a mud truck.

    Chrysler changed the combustion chamber design on the 2.2 engine from one that was sort of a bathtub to one that was more open. Does this head have the early or late chamber?

    @David Vizard, If Richard Holdener and you need a "G" head to do the final porting on I may have a spare. I am in the Seattle WA area. Then you could cut up the worst one of the two. Richard Holdener has my Email addy too. Send me a RMA and I'll box it up.

    Sure didn’t take much to kill that swirl. I have engine builders tell me all the time it does not matter at 4000+rpms though. They tell me flow is worth more hp than swirl. I have my doubts.
