- Firstly a massive thanks to the 200 of you that have subscribed to the channel! I can't quite believe that there's that many people who want to watch my attempts at fishing 🤣
Secondly, the Wales roadtrip videos will continue over the coming weeks, I'm going to aim to release a new video every sunday morning, but hit the notification bell to get an alert when they go live!
I'm off to Mexico in a couple of weeks, chasing some big fish, so head on over to Instagram for the latest on that trip.

Also, let me know your thoughts on fresh water fishing. Do you fish a mix or are you fixed on one type like me? I do like the thought of finding some local big pike, but the thought of fishing in puddles doesn't grab me in the slightest 😉
Finally, hope you enjoy the footage from Greece. Some stunning scenery, unfortunately very light on fish, maybe a sign of how heavily fished the waters have been over the years?
As always, until next time, take care and tight lines!

I’ve never had any luck spinning with lures on holiday wherever we’ve been. Best to use floats with a couple of foot dropper and vary depth to suit. Day old crusty bread which has turned rubbery stays on the hook longer after being attacked by mullet/bass etc.
I've had some great fun with lures in many countries. But I've also bought a small float setup for when the lures aren't working.
Ευχαριστούμε!!!
No problem, hope to be back one day!
Spot on 🤞🎣 I fish all kinds of fishing so I would say give the lake a go .. 👍 And Tight Lines.
I definitely fancy going after pike and catfish, so watch this space Pat 🎣
Only ever fished freshwater but thinking of trying a bit of sea fishing after watching your vids great content and keeping it real no bs
Cheers Robert! I'm going the other way. Been watching a few videos and going to give freshwater a go, so stay tuned for those videos.
Sea fishing will always be my main passion though!
That crab look like something from Pokémon!! Hahaha. Enjoyed the video and beautiful island...Tight lines buddy
I gotta catch em all! Haha thanks Choon, take care!
Course angling as I live just outside London. Enjoy you videos as only go salt when on holiday
I don't think I could live further from the coast, so sea fishing makes for the second worst hobby choice after downhill skiing 😅
Very refreshing more blog’s please
Cheers Malcolm, stay tuned!
I do mixed fishing I'd like to see you doing some fresh water fishing. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
I gave it a crack earlier this year, there's a video on here of that. Can't say it got me hooked, but I'm keen to give it more attention next year that's for sure!
Hi been catching up on your content and really have enjoyed what you have been producing keep up the great work. Has brought back some great memories of sea fishing with my Dad when I used to live in Bridlington and fishing Danes Dyke and when I was old enough fishing off Bempton and Flamborough cliffs. Now I coarse fish jack of all trades master of none which is how I found your channel looking up fishing on the river Hull. So I'm sure you've got it covered but need any advice, tips etc give me a shout.
Glad you're enjoying the channel mate. I'm thinking of trying my hand at piking just so I don't have to travel quite as far every time I want to fish haha.
I'll always take advice mate. I haven't fished much north of hornsea so any spots you'd recommend up that way would be great.
@The Awful Angler piking advise wise tools for the job long nosed forceps pliers and long reach bolt cutters Dont leave a take to long better to hit the run early than risk deep hooking a pike. Location to fish brid pier can be good at times. Danes dyke for rough ground fishing as for Bempton and Flamborough cliff there a different beast strong gear and a some sort of pole to hold the line out away from the cliffs as you bring the fish up. I remember my dad had a 9lb cod off Flamborough cliffs but had to walk his rod back over the golf course couldn't wind the fish up. I'm sat on the end of the pole and another friend holding his line up over a fence.
Hi mate yeah love doing all 3 types of fishing, get yourself a feeder rod and some cage feeders be interesting to see how you do . Keep up the great vids 👍
Thanks Ian! I'll look into that style 😎
You'd have been better free lining bread as a lot of those locations ,the harbour, inlets etc the fish were probably mullet, just an idea for next time, I take 2 telescopic rods, floats, small leads ,hooks etc,buy squid and raw prawn from the supermarket, Bingo, tight lines buddy
I had the gear to do that with me as well just never geared up for it...next time though ay? Tight lines buddy
I used to do solely sea fishing living up here in Northumberland when I was younger but got sick of catching nowt a friend of the wife suggested I try fly fishing with her husband and have never looked back but I still keep a beach rod and tackle handy.
I'd love to give fly fishing a go this year. The old boy across the road used to be in to it massively, he keeps promising to show me the ropes. 🤞🏼
I enjoyed that one
Glad to hear it mate 👍🏼
Mixed fishing for me good video
I might have to give the puddles a go at this rate 🤣 cheers buddy!
I prefer salt water fishing but happy to watch either!
Glad to hear it Leon, I'll be trying lots of new stuff this year 👍🏼
Hello m8. I'm off to Crete in May. Do you need a fishing permit for sea fishing and are there any tackle shops to buy some gear? Cheers
You didn't need a licence when I went, worth just doubling checking, but I don't think that's changed. There were no tackle shops where we stayed but Google will quickly tell you where your local store it
I'm a Match Lake angler but enjoy watching your salt water ventures - would love to see you on the Lake near you, & would definitely be willing to help with a few tips. 🎣🎣🎣
Lots of my mates are lake anglers, there's just something about it that doesn't quite appeal to me. I think it's that, most of the lakes need memberships or you need to know someone, and I like my isolation 😂
After quite a few blanking sessions in the Med using lures... the penny finally dropped for me that the locals have fished out nearly everything that swims. Dexter wedges and other metals and lures don't catch you any fish.. because there is nothing left big enough to eat them. I've switched over to micro lures and drop shotting now and am doing much better on holidays. 4cm soft lures is max size... size 16 hooks and 2lb hook lengths plenty of small bream left, and small wrasse... keep you busy all session long
Yeah it's really disappointing.
Might be a bit sad but if possible I like to have a mooch about the local fish markets or see what the boats are bringing in, some of their catch I wouldn't even use as bait never mind feed the family!
@@theawfulangler There are still a lot of big fish in the med....
You are just using lures and techniques that dont work in our waters, georgioupoli has a lot of seabass and big ones but you will never catch one using a spoon.. try topwater lures at the first and last light of the day and big minnows 20cm+ to provoke them to strike, also looks like you are trolling very fast optimal trolling speed is at 2,5-3 knotts.
Next time you find yourself in crete ask a local tackle shop to quide you on what lures to use or send a pm i would be happy to show you around !
Im going there for a vacation in april. Is it worth it to bring my fishing stuff with me? And how about the permits and others stuff? Id appriciate an answer alot😊
Hey!
You can't catch fish without your gear, so I'd always say its worth taking it with you. Make sure you take a light float setup with you too, it may prove more successful than lures.
When I went, they had removed the need for permits. But its always worth a quick check on Google to be sure that's still the case.
@@theawfulangler I love lure fishing. Does something like jigs work?
I had no luck, but that's fishing, it could be none stop fishing when you go 🤞🏼
Smashing it mate 👌 carp fishing on the channel soon? 👀
You never know mate 😥😂
im going on hilday to vrete at some stage whats the criac with the regulations about fishing
Hey Brendan
When I went, they had removed the need for fishing permits. But it's always worth a quick Google to confirm nothings changed.
Did you catch any fish in the entire video? 😮
Not a one! Gave it everything all week, across multiple spots too, and from shore and boat, and not a knock! Stunning place though!
@@theawfulangler I'll be staying on Chania harbor and in Rethimnon soon. Gotta be something there.
We spent a day around Chania. Stunning place. Didn't fish although there were plenty swimming about. I'd free line bread in the harbour.
Love how normal you are lol hate when people are over fake. Love the vids love the fishing keep it it pal
Cheers Michael, unfortunately that means a lot of videos that include blanks 🤣 but there's usually some sort of cock up that provides a bit of entertainment at least 👍🏼
Здравей бях на почивка Фанари и си купих ваксинирана херинга от супера на Фанари просто уникално приготвена солено пушена херинга никаде не съм ял подобно приготвена херинга със собствен хайвер във корема си супер деликатес 2022
That sound delicious! I remember when I was a child my dad took me to a traditional family ran smoke house in whitby, I've never had anything like it to this day!
Pure salt 🙃
Good man!!
i lived in greece for a year and its very simple why you didnt catch its because of of greece it totally over fished, the greeks have very loose morals when it comes to rules and regulations in general and the fishing really suffers, the whole coastline of create where i lived was just baron and devoid of any life/ecosystem.
your going far to fast for trolling dude . about 3 knots is best
I'll cool it down a little next time 👍🏼
what month were you here fishing?
Early April mate
