Originally on the primetime version, the two contestants stayed on for the entire show. That changed to two new contestants for each game after one won over $1000 on one show. A contestant winning that much money made CBS nervous, due to the quiz show scandals from a few years previous, hence the change in the rules.
@wmlfan9 No, the word has been around longer than one might think. A scheme like that was named after an infamous businessman from Italy, Charles Ponzi, born in 1882, died in 1949.
All the players seemed to have no concept of bearing in mind previous clues given for a word before shouting out their answers. I guess the game was too new for players to have a complete understanding of strategies necessary to play well and win. This kind of a game would have never have been played in later years by those who had really watched the show before. An interesting view.
It's kind of funny that Betty McCulloch were from Corpus Christi, Texas, just like me. I mean, it is rare that there were few contestants from Corpus Christi appeared in a few classic game shows which is very neat.
@bluebear1985 Thanks for the info, bluebear. I like to watch old movies from the Thirties on TCM and I am constantly being surprised to hear words and phrases that I had assumed were of more recent vintage.
Poor Carroll looked like she really wanted to be somewhere else... anywhere else. Rather uncomfortable episode all the way around. Probably a long 30 min. for Allen too.
Carroll Baker was a skilled Black Belt in both Judo and Jiu Jitsu.
From when I was just a little girl. I definitely remember hearing this theme from when I was a child.

That guy Arthur Trudeau sure looks like the guy on Gene Rayburn's Match Game 1962 pilot show. Check it out.

Surprised Caroll didn't get buzzed for "twelve o'clock"
I think Reason A Goodwin was asleep at the buzzer.
More laxed on the speed round

Wow, I thought Ponzi (14:58) came into the language just a couple years ago but here it is.
excellent quality!
Art's a.. touchy, feely kinda guy ain't he?
Haha! I think at 6:57 when he kissed Carol Baker's hand, she said something back to him about getting "fresh" with her. ;-)
Good catch..yeah..i replayed it. I think "don't get fresh"
Note Airdate: April 24, 1962.
Boy, that Trudeau fella really messed up on Password, didn't he? Know wonder Carroll Baker couldn't stand her partner! XD

What does Bennett say at 19:08? I try but cannot make it out.
I think he said "tiny."
why are they giving verbs for chill? it threw off their partners. duh.
Is this the first season of PASSWORD?
Mr. Betty White (Allen Ludden)
Thanx for the info.
That's a classic?
Probably for poor play and slow score. :)
Carol Baker = worst speed round player ever.
