It would've killed the moment, but how funny would it be if a librarian walked up to Penny after and shushed him like "no singing in the library please"
James Moriarty There was suppose to be a scene after the song where Penny would get stuck with extra hours of work, for how long he died and didn’t report to the underworld. And he would have said Oh fuck love. But thought it would have been in bad taste and went back to Quentin’s group for the end.
have you ever seen 'unbreakable kimmy schmidt' there's a scene where one character is listening to something on head phones and making all these facial expressions and a librarian comes over to him and points out a sign that says 'no face journey's please.'
Agreed, Jade Taylor (Kady) and Hale Appleman (Eliot) really did an amazing job. Both have singing and musical experience in their background. Jade Taylor helped Summer Bishil (Margo) during the Les Mis bit before Eliot's sword fight. They did a really amazing job of making the song and the singing of it poignant and integral to the plot in a non hokey way. They showcased their best singers nicely, without ignoring the rest of the cast. Really well done all around. Loved Penny's comment at the beginning, ;)
Idk man, that whole bit they did about the mosaic to find the 3rd key and Eliot and Quentin living an entire lifetime as a result was pretty breathtaking for me. This pretty much outshines the musical episode of Buffy tho.
I loved when Julia just randomly started singing and Fen was like so confused because she couldn't hear the others so just out of no where she starts singing a song that she doesn't even know.
I love how they kept all their original voices and the fact each song lyrics matches up as well with where each character is in the show emotionally 😍😍
I REALLY LOVE THE MAGICIANS, because every episode is really unexpected and gets better and better and then the fact that it is so dark yet so fun, and then the never-ending adventure. if anyone has any recommendation, do share. :)
@@zemotz9609 IKR! I never hear about it on the mainstream but it's definitely one of my fav. Did you finish the latest season? I really hope it's not the last one :/
It was for me, until the S4 finale. That's all I'll say. I still miss it. But I've never gone back. Meanwhile, this is my single favorite moment from the entire show.
This song was perfect for them because even though they are all "under pressure" they still have hope and each other. Their United even far apart and the lines they sing line up perfectly with what their going through. Julia is terrified of learning what this world is all about, Elliot and Margo hoping for a higher tomorrow, Penny and Katie talking about their love, being on the fence for too long, Q and Alice's last dance, hoping to give love one more chance. Josh feeling alone like he was left on the street wondering what his place is.....this was a great homage to Bowie and the characters personal journeys
The Magicians is the only show I can think of that gets musical scenes in without seeming cheesy, and idk how they did it. The scenes of the characters singing are some of my favorites in the show.
After Bowie’s passing, it was hard to listen to any of his albums. Eventually, I learned to accept it. Now, after watching this scene, I teared up. I can’t explain why. I loved this scene and I love how they honored both Bowie and Mercury through it.
In spite of the facts that - I hate "Glee" style song numbers as they are oftentimes completely cornball, I've never considered this song as one of Bowie's best, and that there is only one truly likeable character (Elliot, the hedonistic) - I was emotionally moved and had to wipe some tears. But then, when Bowie died I had a similar unexpected strong emotional response.
I edited this episode, and it was a trial to try to fit all the story elements into the fixed length of the song, but thanks to great writing and directing, it all worked!

Yes. The main story needed him to disappear, but .....the 'New' Penny is an origin story amongst the rest of the new dystopia, yes? Where do 'Travelers' come from? We shall see.

Katie and Elliot’s voice are so good this whole episode was incredible
Yeah, we all knew Hale Appleman could sing after last year's "Music Hath Charms" but Jade Taylor really knocked it out of the ballpark this episode.
@bobsixtynine
Tbh, I only knew it was Kady after turning on subtitles.
Agreed, Jade Taylor (Kady) and Hale Appleman (Eliot) really did an amazing job. Both have singing and musical experience in their background. Agree
0:28 The moment Katy thinks "oh you fucks" and realises shes taking lead haha.
This whole ep gave me the biggest smile. Honestly love this show!
PeppeRoshi Pizza I’m so glad someone else noticed Katy’s reaction when they start the background singing 😂
same i even wanna read the books now
This scene right here made this my favorite Magicians episode.

My Favorite Episode
I loved when Julia just randomly started singing and Fen was like so confused because she couldn't hear the others so just out of no where she starts singing a song that she doesn't even know.
Zakeh H lol and it wasn’t a coincidence. She was the only one that sang on set.
@Hans Hanzo that character was a faerie
She also started in the middle of the song and not from the beginning
I love how they kept all their original voices and the fact each song lyrics matches up as well with where each character is in the show emotionally 😍😍
MellieInVideoland OMG! I NOTICED THAT TOO! It made it that much better!
Wdym the auto tune comes on a bit thick sometimes
How Alice and Quentin are looking right at each other as they sing give love one more chance.
How Penny says turn away like a blind man, like how he often tried to stay away or stay neutral with the others' hijinks.
I was a bitch.. I edited this episode
When josh starts singing, Julia hugs the girls and the ship is seen soaring......wow, made me tear up
She's a fairy she just had cured from her imprisonment curse with her goddesshood magic.
Kady and Elliot were the MVPs of this scene.
Don't u mean penny? :
Potato Chips Elliot kills all the musical parts tbh
I REALLY LOVE THE MAGICIANS, because every episode is really unexpected and gets better and better and then the fact that it is so dark yet so fun, and then the never-ending adventure. if anyone has any recommendation, do share. :)
You might like The Travelers. It's on US Netflix.

Truman Oakes Saw this episode last night.. first time ever seeing the show. This was all I needed to see to know that i will be tuning in consistently
Yes please this show is amazing

HeatRS little did little 1 year ago you know Quentin would die
It was for me, until the S4 finale. That's all I'll say. I still miss it. But I've never gone back. Meanwhile, this is my single favorite moment from the entire show.
Elliot is my favorite character and the episode where he and Q go back in time and live a whole life is my favorite
That episode was pure joy till I started crying when Elliot died.
Peaches and plumbs...

Sam Sanchez this show is amazing and even though it has some bumps it still manages to make the show seem sooo ✨magical✨
Yeah they have each other til the last episode xD
@@AlyxJacobs42 xD but no spoilers
Oh man...so well said! This sequence really brought tears to my eyes...it was so powerful! I love how it was a homage to Bowie as well.
Also Julia's need to help others
"..every single one of us has to sing" I *LOVE* the uneasiness and dread all over Q's face while saying that 😂 😂
😢 😢 I want him back! 😭😭😭
The Magicians is the only show I can think of that gets musical scenes in without seeming cheesy, and idk how they did it. The scenes of the characters singing are some of my favorites in the show.
Elliots voice is winning!
His falsetto is on point
Only Fen can sing as well as him
His falsetto really gives me Queen vibes in a fantastic way.
Hey, im just saying, i dont swing for the other team, but for elliot i might
@ella wolf well its true
Q: "And I'm gonna make sure that everyone knows the words"
Me: oh shit we're about to hear everyone sing a Taylor Swift song
Thats exactly what i thought too.
Im the only one in my family that thought that immediately.
I don't even know 1 taylor song but i dont know anyone who hasnt heard a queen song.
It was fantastic when Queen and David Bowie did it together
Chekhov’s Gun said it be David Bowie.
Though it would have been a sick throw back if it was Taylor Swift.
Under Pressure and Take On Me are two of favourite songs and that The Magicians did both of them was really something.
After Bowie’s passing, it was hard to listen to any of his albums. Eventually, I learned to accept it. Now, after watching this scene, I teared up. I can’t explain why. I loved this scene and I love how they honored both Bowie and Mercury through it.
I teared up as well. So much emotion
Me too man! It was truly powerful! It hit me in the heart!
Glad I want the only one who teared up during this. I've been hooked on this version of under pressure since I first heard it.

But then, when Bowie died I had a similar unexpected strong emotional response.
It's because Bowie's version is already magic, but this version is COOPERATIVE magic (which, as we all know, makes everything more...tingly) 😍
Oh, how I need more of Hale Appleman's singing in my life.
I edited this episode, and it was a trial to try to fit all the story elements into the fixed length of the song, but thanks to great writing and directing, it all worked!

It's the Buffy approach.

Mmm num ba de

[Verse 1: David Bowie & Freddie Mercury]

Under pressure that burns a building down

Why can't we give love that one more chance?
Why can't we give love, give love, give love, give love
Give love, give love, give love, give love, give love?
[Outro: David Bowie]
Because love's such an old-fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the (People on streets) edge of the night
And love (People on streets) dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves

It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming 'Let me out'
Tomorrow gets me higher, higher, high
Pressure on people, people on streets
Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work
Keep coming up with love but it's so slashed and torn
Why, why, why?
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love
Insanity laughs, under pressure we're breaking
Can't we give ourselves one more chance?
Why can't we give love that one more chance?
Why can't we give love, give love, give love, give love
Give love, give love, give love, give love, give love?
'Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the (People on streets) edge of the night
And loves (People on streets) dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure
Under pressure
Pressure
This is an absolutely amazing scene. I'd like to think Freddie and David Bowie would be proud.
It was so good. I love Eliot❤️
This is absolubely georgeous!!!
This clip convinced me to start watching the show.
I miss Penny so much... I want him to return but I have a feeling that he's gone for good. Guess we'll just have to settle for the new Penny
Yes. The main story needed him to disappear, but .....the 'New' Penny is an origin story amongst the rest of the new dystopia, yes? Where do 'Travelers' come from? We shall see.
He had way more of an attitude
