You know, ounce for ounce, you still produce one of the best mudlarking videos. You and Nic are two of my must watch channels every week. If not on Suday, well before you make another. I have 3 or 4 must watch channels and you two are in that small group. I look forward to them so thank you Simon. You don't HAVE to do it, but you do and I just wanted you to know it's appreciated. I can be a cranky jerk from time to time, so i appreciate you putting up with me. I'd like to meet you one of these days before all is said and done. Paul RI. USA
That voice was your friend, I believe. The hammered coin was a great find, and I enjoyed the clip on how they’re made. There were a lot of cloth seals today. That button with the lions, and the large copper were great finds. Your tee-shirt art is marvelous. 👍
Fantastic ‘MudLife Crisis’ design! I recognize (almost) each treasure incorporated. Thank you for continuing to share your interesting mud-ventures & finds over the years. It means a lot to so many! Cheers! 🦆
The Charles I coin is a remarkable find. It amazes me that such a tiny coin managed to survive the intense violence of the Blitz as well as times of instability, uncertainty and revolution. That's a lot to ask of such a small thing.
Great video, awesome finds, I had just popped on your channel earlier to see if there was a new video, then about an hour later, BAM! Btw that was Ken @2:22 saying "Ya a token"...can't fool me m8...hahaha. Nice brush, I love my Braun as well, gets in all the nooks and crannies.
You found the spot where they were unloading wool from Norwich it seems!! Great jetton as well. Welcome to your 40s, pipe and slippers at the door lol. Great t shirt too.
That was creepy 😱 ordered my T shirt yesterday!!! Can’t wait for it to come in. I love all the history and backgrounds you give us. When are we getting to find out what you found in Scotland??
HI Si, you are so fun to watch it takes us out of our daily dulldrum you are so cheerful and talented. Thankyou for the great blog. Ruth in salt lake city utah.
I was just amazed when you touched the smoked Venus coin with the Vaseline! How beautiful! I love the Mud Life Crisis shirt design. You are always so enjoyable to watch! Thanks Simon!
WOW! What a great but cold day you and Kev had! Lovely things indeed! Kind Thanks Si Finds, beautiful historical things! More luck in a muck P,ease! Love, Luck, Light and Peace and Joy of Being and Larking! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Im in Pennsylvania, too! I do some beachcombing for sea glass, driftwood and pottery down in Delaware and Maryland. Nothing like what Si finds, but still fun! Cheers
I'm currently sat in a boozer about a five minute walk away from Tower Bridge. The thought of all this incredible stuff sloshing about down there in the stew drives me up the bloody wall. Good work, Si. You and the lovely Nicola have this caper taped. Cheers pal. X
Wow what a lovely video with lots of lovely finds along with wonderful information about the finds and lovely tee prints. Enjoyed watching the coins n tread tokens and bag seal. With love from SAM Guwahati Assam India 🇮🇳 ♥️
Love the fact you've found all these historical things on the edge of a modern society too many people these days don't have a clue about the past please teach others or its lost 👍
Spoiler alert! Simon gets hammered in this video, lol. When making metal stamps for doing embellishments on precious metals, doing test stamps to check the design is done in lead. Personally I prefer pewter. It's a bit safer to work with. At the carving stage, the steel of the stamp is still 'soft', and doing a test stamp in super soft metals makes sense. In the case of your stamped lead lead item, not a clue. Like you said, it was probably someone playing around (?). Love the soot and Vaseline tip.
All these are amazing love them. Hard to display as both sides are so good. Enjoyed this, but feel sorry for you both in this cold weather. THANKYOU 😊❤ both
Si, when you find old bottle necks, you could always cut what's left of the body away and make them into guitar slides. I'm not sure how popular playing slide guitar in the UK is but, basically, you just slide it on your finger and then slide it up and down the frets instead of fingering chords as you play. 'Twould be amazing with the really old ones.
But I was at the end when I made my comment, but I wasn't. I really appreciate that the mudlarkers take their finds to the museum. I know it's a condition of your permits, but really if you found something, say like a ring that was over 300 years old you could keep it without them knowing it but I think it's just great that they catalogue it and stuff. Now do they ever keep them because they have never seen one before or do they catalogue it down and give it back to you? I would almost think that they would keep it as part of Britain's history. What an exciting thing to do looking in mud that gives you history. I think that's pretty awesome!!!😍🌟
Oh my gosh I can’t believe all that you found today! A token that dates back to the 1500s?!!!! I am totally gob smacked. I can’t wait to get my little metal detector out and go play in the mountains or foothills. You never know I could find gold. There’s plenty of it out there. Anyway wanted to say a major Thank you. Sending love from California.💜🤗🤟🏻🥸🇺🇸
Such great finds, Si. Especially the Jetton of Henry VIII’s time, but you know the Union of the Crowns didn’t happen until 1603 with James VI of Scotland’s ascension to the English throne. 🙂
Woohoo! That was the best Sifiinds I've seen in ages. Thank you. My neighbours ask me what I have been watching because they can hear me whooping and laughing . . . they wouldn't 'get it' sad . . . BUT I DO . . woohoo, keep on keepin on with our history.
I like your t-shirts. Have you ever thought of one with royal heads? Perhaps from coins and statues? One with Military buttons and badges? One with different tokens? One with different pipe designs? I know you can't do all of this, but it's an idea to throw out there for history lovers, as well as Mud Lovers.😁
How do you think the coins and buttons were made? An artisan creating a positive, then a mould for a negative? Then a positive again? Did you find a prototype coin?
That Jetton really is awesome. I did like the anchor token too to be honest. Thanks again for following me on my instagram and I've purchased a Mud Life Crisis shirt. Love the design. Went for the heather blue version. Thank you again 😊
What amazing finds Si. To think that all those finds were buried in the mud and just waiting for you to find! Happy Mid Life Crisis 🎉 the design for the t-shirt is excellent! Looking forward to your next video 👍🇦🇺 xxx
