    Hi Craig,
    I'm so happy that someone else felt that the Nest sounded better than Echo which only focuses on Bass.
    Most other reviewers rated Echo above Nest just because of Bass & totally neglecting the clarity in the Mids & Highs.
    Nest is a clear winner in terms of sound quality as its much balanced rather than emphasizing just on one frequency.

    I’m debating on getting the new echo fourth generation to replace my echo second generation for better clear phone calls and clear sound because the echo 2nd Gen. sounds crisps when I talk to people on it so I was wondering is the sound clear when using the Alexa call feature to talk to people and clear when you ask to read the news or your calendar? This question is for Craig.

    Great video! I'm looking for the overall value when I consider smart speakers so the winner to me is the Echo 4th Gen. I love all the skills and smart home functionality of the Echo as well as the Hub and temperature sensor. If I were only looking for would I would choose neither but I do like the audio out of the Echo. The Google does sound better and provides better answers but again overall value and compatibility with my ring devices I love the Echo and I am a dual home guy that has 8 of each of the previous generations and I'm personally not upgrading either right now since I don't see vast improvements on either. I do also like the sidewalk feature of the Echo. I'm standing pat right now.

    I don’t agree that the google sounds better. The echo sounds more full range - and more room filling, and better adjustment of EQ. And the extra features of the echo makes it a much better value. Also it is meaningless listening to speakers from a recording - played back via your phone or iPad or whatever. It’s not telling you anything about how the speaker really sounds. You have to be in the room. I sampled both in person. To me the google speaker sounds flat and weak - bass is practically non-existent. And I don’t demand the heavy over-loaded bass that many like. But I don’t like speakers that sound like they have almost no bass. Like the google. The bass on the echo is strong, is crisp and not distorted - and does not interfere with the mids and highs. It has a much richer sound. I ended up choosing the echo - and a note about the temp sensor. It’s a nice feature. I can ask Alexa what the temp is inside the house and get a quick accurate answer. Can’t do that with the google. And if you care about home automation zigbee is one of the main players that allows you to connect all your zigbee compatible stuff via one wireless connection. The fact that Zigbee hub is built into the echo saves you from having to buy a hub for that purpose. I guess you don’t care to use any of those features but that doesn’t mean they don’t matter and are not better value for the money. So in my view the google is an inferior sounding speaker, with less features. Was an easy choice for me to go with the echo.

    • @MrBjarne82
      @MrBjarne82 3 роки тому

      The Nest Audio is an exceptional good sounding smart speaker for it's price range. It is much more balanced than the Mainstream sound of the Echo. Even if it lacks some low end and volumina. Taste is always a subjective thing of course. Do you want more party/omph or true to life sound

    I haven't had a chance to listen to the new google home, or echo 4th generation. However, from my current experience of owning 2 echo dots (3rd generation), an echo plus (2nd generation), an echo studio, an echo Flex, and a google home mini, and the original google home: My pick for a smart speaker would still have to be the echo studio for the best all around sound. Of course for the best sound possible the best options would be a dedicated sound system with a wired connection. The second best would be dedicated speakers with bluetooth. The third would be the echo studio for an all in one system out of the selection of options here.

      The problem with these smart speakers is that they use the cheapest bluetooth they can get away with. That is why they can drop the price so low. With Echos and Nest devices I have experienced audio lag when watching video. Even portable speakers can suffer from this too.

    In this video I don't know what it is, but the Echo sounds like it's "inside" of something else. I don't know how else to describe the difference. I have both of these and I do think that the Nest Audio sounds better. However, temporarily pairing and unpairing the two different devices as I move and repurpose them is much less painful on the Echo. Google edged them out on sound but lacks in many small ways.
    Also the Echo looks better. The Nest Audio looks like the culmination of a search for the least offensive and indistinct design possible instead of something that isn't afraid to have a look. I want personality over blandness, and the Nest Audio fails there pretty dramatically.

    Amazon Alexa is the best for home automation, it has the most skills,.
    Also, Google can't add a device to more than 1 room or group; example: kitchen and family room are adjacent to each other and I want the lights in both room to turn
    off if I say all, as well as independently turning off either room.
    Alexa is inexpensive so I bought 8 to equip every room with Amazon Alexa for voice control so that I can just ask 'turn off the lights' and the echo in that room
    knows to turn off those lights and not other lights in the house.
