i like how the thumbnail conveniently covers up the fact that RCE demolished a whole neighbourhood for the world’s briefest oil boom
I wanted it to be realistic...
Briefest.
Lightning fast.
Electricity on. Pumps empty.

Realizing that you are running out of oil and then building even more infrastructure to support the industry was a nice touch of realism.
sounds pretty much like germany and coal to me
i mean they litterally planned into a town and now its getting demolished
Not even close to the reality.

In the game options you can set resources to "never run out"
I'm not sure if it'll replenish everything if you already used it though.
I've always heard try to place your processing plants in such way that the trucks turn right to enter it. So their path will be pump -> go down the road -> turn right into the processing plant.
It doesn't, but there is a mod where you can repaint the resources back in too.
With surface pointer you can paint Natural resources
On the main menu -> content manager -> mods -> unlimited oil and ore
The reason your processing buildings were still working even after you drained all the oil is because they import resources if you're not producing enough. Which means even more colourful oil tankers driving in your city so that's a win.
The plant at the start that needed oil and all your tankers were ignoring it would have been waiting for an import, because if it can't find oil in your city as soon as it needs it, it will place an import order. Then none of your tankers will go there. You have to build oil storage and then that supplies your processors.
Industries takes some getting used to.
15:50 you can drive in this game if i remember....if you close your city planing to go into cinematic mode there is a drive and walk mode to see everything at a real scale
"BECOME AN OIL BARON-"
"cool I wonder what new game he found where you can drill oil???"
""-IN CITY SKYLINES"
"...of course"
Who knows, maybe he will play Turmoil next time.
dear RCE:
you can use the move it mod to select a lot of items and delete all at once. it will be a lot quicker and easier than individually bulldozing everything
He have the mod, maybe he dont know how to use it.
You can also just make the bulldozer radius larger but I don't think rce knows that
He can install Move It mod and use multiselect (drag where) and then click on the bulldozer. Additionally, without mods you could have just de-zoned it and all the units would have disappeared naturally
He could also just dezone the entire area, no mods required and then delete or update the roads, or just delete the roads if the entire area is being rebuilt.
Or just remove the zones
7:45 "We do care about the aesthetic design of our oil fields". That sounds suspiciously like an architecht talking! RCE, are you being corrupted?!
The first time I drilled for oil in this game I went a little overboard and ended up with booms and busts. Now I realize that I need to redefine the term "overboard".
RCE: "We do care about the about the aesthetic design of our oil fields a little bit"
That's _ARCHITECT_ talk!
i like how it went from being a rather normal city to this madness
It all started with that damn interchange
as somebody who hasn't been following this world, this was incredibly enjoyable to watch for an introduction
I love the fact that you started off with a throwback to the poo-droelectric dams. They are truly inspirational. I myself have started utilizing my sewage systems to create clean energy as well. Thank you for being so amazing.
Createing clean energy with dirty water 👍🏻
As a new roofing estimator, I completely agree that architects deserve to live 50 feet under sewage
@RCE, just start with less pomps and build more of the processing buildings so you can later on make plastic and make toy's in the custom factories (last tab in industries), also you can just build larger pumps once you leveld up, these produce more oil.
RCE's vids are so nice and chill it often surprises me when it's about to end. It's like time just flew by.
How I see a Engineer building a city: This is the perfect city!
How a Real Civil Engineer builds: Poo can save the world!
To fix oil problem you have to enable 'unlimited oil and ore mod' (comes with game) and just to be sure install the 'extra landscaping tools' mod so you can put oil back in that spot. With this you can be rich asf
WAY LESS PUMPS
For starter.
You do not need NEARLY as much.
one row of 6 to 12 will quite happily keep the industry going for quite some time.
And refining and selling is way more profitable than selling raw oil as well.
*fewer pumps
I have been spending time getting a working oil system down. here's what I came up with....
8 large oil pumps feed 8 waste oil facilities to make petroleum for 4 naphtha cracker plants to make plastic, which gets stored in one large warehouse.
The trick is creating a closed loop system of two lane1 way roads, feeding two cargo rail terminals (across the street from one another)
There should be no connection to any other roads in the city, you do not want truck traffic from the city using your oil only rail terminal.
Place all buildings there are even numbers of on both sides of the two lane 1 way, so that trucks go in and out smoothly
It will end up a complex 1 way loop system, with a branch for oil tanks and petroleum tanks as well.
This also needs mods... 'building spawn points' to create secondary cargo points outside the 'loop' for trucks to export oil & petroleum out of the tanks, and plastic out of the warehouse. (put 1 way roads on both sides of those buildings). 'building spawn points' is critical for connecting the closed loop system and the rest of the city. Make sure city services other than cargo are on the outside spawn point created by the mod, and the vehicle types are set correctly, and the (warehouse, oil tanks, and petroleum tanks need inside and outside points)
You will also need the TMPE mod to get get the trucks flowing smoothly with proper traffic rules.
It will take some 'fiddling', looping 1 ways around to get the circulation right, but with some patience, it will work. Then you can use the 'Move it!' to select and copy your working 'oil module' multiple times for maximum $$$
This method has raked in over $200,000 a week at peak output.
Hope this makes sense to someone.
PS: this all would be completely unnecessary if only Paradox/Colossal order had included oil pipelines, using probably some of the same code that the electrical system & water runs on. Using trucks to move oil around your local complex is 100% not how it's done in the real world. Look on Google Earth up in the Alaska oil fields, they connect pumps and refineries with pipelines, but noooooooooo no pipelines for the oil industry in Cities Skylines.
Good goin, devs....
It's quite ironic to think Billy Ray was the only district that never really had any problems and it's the one that gets the axe 😂
When you restricted road access, it looked like you only stopped vehicles for only one side of the road which is why it was still being used. As for the crazy mountain road, you should set that to a higher speed limit b/c touge
Nothing bad will happen going 370MPH on a mountain road
@@zsmusicmonstrosity9913 Eurobeat intensifies
An easy way to save money is to get rid of extra roadspace and water pipes that aren't needed. You have to pay upkeep on every bit of road and water pipes you install. Your mega-intersection is an easy target for revision.
Wash your mouth out!!
Woohoo civil engineer, it's 2:15am rn but i must watch!
Edit: I'm not 10, I was tired.
Man, for me it's 17:27 am 😁
Are you 10?

Ah same hahahah
The circles when you place a building has a symbol that shows what overlay it effects. The building you placed doesn't care about how far it is from the oil Wells, it just needs access to oil within a material storage area.
The circles on that will reflect the noise pollution and/or ground pollution radius affected. Unlike something like Parks, whose circle will show the area affected with a happiness boost.
I don't have all of the expansions and DLC but a few things to understand the game better...
1-Electricity travels through buildings. With that said, the buildings and sources of electricity needs to be close enough for it to travel through the buildings. If they aren't close enough then you can use power lines to connect them. When your pumps had not enough power, it looked like your dams weren't connected to your cities' power grids. All you needed to do to fix this was connect your dams to the city with the power lines and then electricity would have flown through the city to your pumps. You didn't need to put down several kilometers of powerlines. XD
2-In order to make more money get your buildings to upgrade themselves. Generic commercial, industry, and residential areas have 5 levels. If they level up they pay more taxes, which means more income. The view for this is the home icon with a star inside. To get them to level up, you need a mixture of services and high land value. Services as far as I know is basically fire fighters, police, health, and public transportation. You can increase land value by placing lots of park and recreational things. Note, unique buildings don't increase land value. Also certain things can prevent buildings from upgrading, such as noise pollution. Also industry pollution harms land value.
3-As you upgrade your commercial and industry, they will start to require people with higher levels of education. There is 4 tiers of educated, uneducated, elementary, high school, and university. So it's important to also have education available to the residential districts as you get your commercial and industry buildings to level up. Also I believe upgrading residential buildings allow them to house more people.
4-While your pumps may have some oil left in them, if they aren't extracting more oil it will run out quite soon. Your other oil buildings are probably importing oil. Industry and commercial may use local sources of materials/products if there are local sources available.
5-Certain policies are massive money drains. Notable, power meters and water meters as far as I know, is extremely expensive when applied city wide and provides little benefit. Smoke detectors are also expensive but I'm not sure how good they are. I think I may have just enabled them for my industry zones.
His videos are always funny :D
Also I hope he will play Teardown and Minecraft again because they have been updated and I enjoyed those videos

11:17 that’s about what all the oil companies say , lmao 🤣 love the video

RCE! In the same tab you saw your natural resources, the Info View Tab, at the bottom there is a Route View! Click on a specified road and it will show you where those vehicles, or vehicle, is going! You won’t have to watch them drive :) Love your videos!
City: We want to get started in the oil business and want to set up a few pumps. What's your plan for this?
RCE: We could make money faster if we set up 1000 pumps!
You should name the road connecting the left testicle and the tip the Prince Albert Bypass
*builds oil industry around cemetery* "I think that sort of things happens in real life all the time."
Sacred Native Lands: "Tell me about it"
Sadly
In my experience of more than 200 hours in Cities Skylines, when you suddenly expand your city so much, lots of citizens move in the city in a same period of time, and they die the same time as well. That's why there is so much death around the city. (Of course not having enough cemetery is also another reason)
Yup, death waves are a bit of an issue with the game. Although him pumping sewage into his water system probably didn't help either. 😅 This will likely lead to another death wave in 70 years in game as well.
but there was enough land fill , why can't they just use it...
@@monad_tcp because his landfill in way up on the mountain now and if they carry the dead body up there, the driver is gonna die in mid way as well😃
6:19 My town has a small cemetery in-between a McDonalds and a gas station across from a car wash. On a main road. Nobody wants to bother moving all the bodies, including their relatives who apparently visit it often when they go into town.
I love how you slowly go into insanity from the start of the series
Was addicted to the Industries DLC for a long time. Yes, there are way too many pumps. lul However the storage facilities will import oil (or whatever resource it's for) if it can't get the resource from your own town. Oil pumps are basically an additional source you can use for traffic management than them all coming from your highway interconnects. However this then gets into the nonsensical traffic AI that the game uses.
electricity drops over distance, but by just producing a little generation nearby, you kinda spoof the distance problem
also, there are mods that allow you to paint back some more ground resources. So you could make an oil field below your pumps in the strongest shape
I don't think I have ever laughed so hard as when you were immediately out of oil and knowing the sheer crapload of traffic you were about to cause. OMG! I almost fell out of my office chair I was laughing so hard. Great shyte, sir! Keep it up!!
I was actually just rewatching your old cities skylines videos, and it was a supringsing nostalgic-kick
I've been binging your videos the past week. Keep up the great work!
If the oil has run out, just move all of the pumps to another area where there is some left.
“It’s 2034. What sort of technology do we have? Ooh, we can get some busses and some trains.”
Guys, in a little over a decade we can expect to develop public transportation and locomotives!
in settings turn off resource depletion(called unlimited resources) so you have endless oil. then build many storage for crude oil, they provide oil to the plastics/petroleum buildings.
Yes I love it when RCE plays cities skylines!!!!
I love how you're just playing the game willfully ignorantly because the result is that you're having fun and we're having fun, and that's the whole point!
16:13 That's not a puddle, that's a.... *drumroll* Poodle!
one of my top go-to channels keep up the good work
Hi I love your videos keep up the good work I always love the moment when I see you uploaded a new video and I go get a blanket and lay back and just watch
I can’t believe you gained 49k subs in 2 days!!!! Keep it up!!!! Architects could never🙄
i never thought i needed the word combination "tidal turd" in my life, but now I have it and I can't live without it
6:25 Fun fact: When four towns were flooded to create Quabbin Reservoir in Massachusetts, their cemeteries were relocated. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quabbin_Reservoir#Towns_disincorporated
see, that happens all the time!
Meanwhile, my childhood home was built over an old cemetery, which happened to have been built on top of an older cemetery.
Hehe 3:24 "it's not even autumn" .... In the middle of October
Dude I swear you just started your channel. Holy moly. How have you grown from nothing to where you are now? I joined at around 20-30k subs.
When I tried oil for the first time, it went away immediately too. I pretty much stick to forestry and agriculture for industry because they don't pollute as much.
Rce, here is some help
First, you should turn on unlimited natural resources, as it means that you can pump oil forever.
Second, for the oil to get to the processing buildings, it need to go to the storage buildings, so it goes extraction buildings take oil to storage buildings, and then they take it to the processing buildings. You also need to create a layout that allows everyone to get everywhere in the industry area efficiently.
Also make small unconnected industry areas, or else the traffic gets really bad in just one big one
Hope this helps!
This was hilarious. Playing the game having no idea how anything work. 🙂
There is an anarchy mod you can download that will allow you to put shit where ever you want.
Your channel growth has been insane! I’m glad to be apart of this community. ❤️
From Poonama canal to oil baron.. Engitopia is really getting into shape
Remove so many pumps from the field and scatter them along the whole are of Oil Reservoir. Make more storage area and processing areas.
Btw I'm Petroleum Engineer 😁
Death waves are expected in the game when you draw big neighouroods at a time.
Either don't grow your city too fast or take mod to correct the problem. There is also an option in the options menu to make the natural ressources such as oil and mineral not deplete. The buildings cathing fire is from the base game as well as floods due to water level. The DLC only adds all other disasters.
You can add trees at will. And fertile earths stay fertile whatever you do.
Just do farming or woodcutting, they never run out and always makes a poo tidal wave of money for me
I always would love to watch kblitz play this never missed an episode
NOT GUNNA LIE THE “ BABY YODA” part made ME LAUGH HELLA HARD! Ya hella hard! I said it! Anyways creator! Your amazing and trust me you’ll conquer all your goals in the future just have fun dammit!
oh is that YODA? ( proceeds to use a starwars ad right after lol
hey RCE, the oil drills will help you get the last bit of oil or get the oil that's way deep down
I love the phrase “Tidal Turd”
I like that he gives us little engineering lessons on the side
when someone creates a machine to transport items from games and movie's to real world
america and china: *downloads games where there is oil*
There's a vanilla mod called unlimited resources, if you enable that you'll then have unlimited oil. That way we can always ensure there's black gold
Love ur content bro🎉😄
So guys, we did it! We hit 3 quarters of a million subscribers!
I like how RCE go steam and tell a qoute ' we spend more money to make more money' , hilarious and its true i think
Oil pumps don't have energy.
My stupid brain "we need to construct additional Pylons"
this was bloody funny, i couldn't stp laughing hahahahah
Now I have assembled the car - made a frame and put parts, several wheels. For an interesting game on different maps.
Finally, he's back to Cities Skylines.

imagine living in this city
I think it's going to be simply lovely.
my new favorite terminology "Tidal-Turd"
Love ur vids. Just subscribed. I can’t stop watching
Thanks!
my favorite part is when he said total turd, you only hear that once
The UPS worldport in Louisville, KY actually has a cemetery on it. They didn't want to disturb the dead. So it does happen like your cemetery in the oil field
I've got a feeling the dead are even more disturbed by it

Im so glad i found this channel omg 😂
That knot looks like the Milwaukee interchange
Omg. Tidal Turd should be 2021 word of the year.
Okay so you are way more casual with re-zoning than I am. Every street corner is precious memories!
"Tidal turd" ooh man that got me good 😂😂
you've gained 41000 subscribers from the time you recorded this video. that's a LOTA subs
I swear every video at this point is a milestone lol
Coming from watching "serious" city builders to this is wild lol
Btw, your hydrodams were never connected to the main city with working pylons :)
Fun fact rce your city can actually survive with low commercial zones even though the demand for commercial is high because the more commercial zones you have the more industrial demand you need and that is going to f**k your traffic
"Aww I thought the oil would last a bit longer than that..."
Welcome to Peak Oil
i know there is a way to use a oil resource brush so you can re-add the oil field
and there is an option to make resources (oil) infinite so that you can keep your industry
has been a long time so idk if it was with mods or not but i definitely know its possible
The entire time I kept telling myself, "wait till RCE realizes that oil is non renewable" 😂🤣
11:28 Speed limits are speed limits my mans, can't afford to lose the job
RCE laughs like Eddie in Bottom. "A lock in! At The Lamb And Flag!"
