    72 years old. Started with Faber all in one book and just bought Pianoforall yesterday on sale for roughly 75 dollars Canadian. I am using both books together. I found I was able to breeze through book one and am just about to start on book two. Sight reading is coming along quite well as I took up guitar 12 years ago, and same with rhythm. Your appraisal is spot on as far as I can see, I only wish other online courses (hello Pianote) would lower their prices.

      Pianoforall is a pretty awesome value, and yes Pianote has a fair bit to offer, but it's not cheap. Check out Blues Piano Academy courses they're not expensive and they are fantastic. I did a review on an intro blues course here: ua-cam.com/video/MOEromJJPHU/v-deo.html
      But they also have a FREE intro to chords course, and a fantastic (huge amount of material) chords course as well as sight reading course etc.

      @@PianoTone you mentioned Steve Lundgrin. I purchased his Deep Dive course less than 2 weeks ago. I'm on day 13 of his 4 week crash course. And it is fantastic! I just happened to come across his channel by accident. The Pianoforall course will follow thanks to you. Now subscribed to your channel.

      @@PianoTone I always thought jazz would take years & years of practice to play. My goal was never to be the next Bill Evans but just to play jazz at a decent level. I am so looking forward to your review of book 6. And book 7 too on blues.

    Hey thanks Toni for another great review. Since I paid quite a bit for the PI21 days ultimate course and feel it was worth it, this course for $39 is no brainer. I’m thinking this should be a great course to build on what I learned inPI21 days. Looks like there’s a lot more information to learn in this course.

      @PianoTone  2 роки тому +2

      @@blankfrank361 Unfortunately no :( I sold my P-125 a few months ago, and hadn't gotten around to making a full Smart Pianist review-it is an awesome app though, it adds some major functionality to the 125 (unlimited user registrations are a big one). There are lots of tutorials online though if you search you should find some helpful ones . . .

    Very interesting review, thanks Tony. I'm always tempted to buy such courses but then I remember that I still haven't finished the latest version of the Piano in 21 day course!
    I guess I spend too much time learning new songs and not enough on real courses! Maybe this will be one of my goals for 2022 :)
    Anyway I'm always impressed that you take so many classes so seriously!

    Courses like Piano For All are all about accompanying your singing and maybe one day being in a band. What if you can't sing over chords? I can sing passably if I'm playing the melody but when just playing chords I find myself too often singing the top note when very often this isn't the melody note!

    • @PianoTone
      @PianoTone  10 місяців тому +1

      You are correct, courses that teach in an accompaniment style focus on the chords not the melody. You can also try to integrate the melody into your right hand playing (you can do this a bunch of different ways), and while it doesn't REQUIRE sight reading that is usually how people do that. Pianoforall does have some sightreading training and modules that could be of help; another course I recommend on my channel is the Piano Man Approach; his main course is 100% focused on playing accompaniment style with chords and improv; but once you have completed the main course he has an add on course teaching you ways to incorporate the melody into your right hand playing (sometimes inserting it in between chords, or quite often the melody note WILL be a note in the current chord, and if you play that chord with the correct chord inversion you can get the melody note on top which makes it stand out; this sounds super cool but it takes a lot of practice!). Example of that - your current chord is a C major C-E-G and the current melody note is an E; you can play that C chord with G-C-E to get the E on top and it stands out.

    I have a question... if i have pianoforall, do i need pianoman?

    • @PianoTone
      @PianoTone  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there! Pianoforall is awesome, but you will definitely get some significant new content and skills to practice from the Piano Man Approach; I like Pianoforall because he does use left hand rhythm in his teaching which is very important, but the Piano Man Approach takes that to a new level.
      Steve teaches left hand rhythm patterns to match the "feel" of different genres of music (syncopated feel, country feel, straight feel, waltz etc); so you can have songs that you play sound much closer to how the whole band sounds (the left hand mimics what the drums and bass do in a band). Steve calls it "become your own rhythm section". My playing improved dramatically after Steve's course, so yes I would recommend it highly!

    I was impressed by your review and tried to use your affiliate link to purchase but my payment card is continually rejected with the message "Your payment was declined. Please check your information or try another card to complete your purchase". There is nothing wrong with my card or the data I entered. I checked the BBB review on the payment provider and see I'm not the only one having troubles purchasing, for the same reason I was given. How did you manage to purchase the product (or did you get it for free due to your review)?
