You can tell the character of a man by how he treats his kids, you're doing a great job with your apprentice! Enjoying watch what yer doing, and the guys you hang with are pretty good guys as well! Greetings from the west coast and happy fathers day tomorrow!
Dubwerks returns in a cameo appearance...on the side of the road...gotta love a good friend!.....In a fix? car broke down? Who you gonna call? why 5150 mnVW of course! Happy Fathers Day!
Man this video just made my fathers day. Just remember everything is fixable. Lesson learned always inspect every inch. Still a great bug with a few areas that need attention
Thank you , yeah I saw a few solid points and was super lazy on this one ...those damn BRM's got me ! I dig it , I'm happy with it , have a great Father's day weekend Joshua.
As it is a 6 volt car & headlights. The eye brows were probably meant to reflect the light downward onto the road. I know on a 12 v, VW stock headlamps are nearly no light. I never had an old bug so am just guessing. . Am figuring either 3 1/2 quarts(or 4) to the full line most likely.
Dang I never seen a fuse box set up like that. 😳 Honestly a lot of positives to the ride! Still a nice car!! Josh checks for gas first!! Smart lil guy there!! WKRP shirt?!?!? 😁 At least it’s was an easy fix for the dub Werks!!
Here in Sweden they have trucks that drive stop start stop along the roadsides with a big magazine of 6 foot (2 m)stripey red and white plastic poles (used to be bamboo) the truck has an impact drill that makes a small hole and a robotic arm sticks a pole in.Every year before the snow and a taker-out truck in the spring. Exciting driving through snow drift country with only the tops of the poles to tell you where the road is.
I would wear ear plugs during the catsup / foil clean ! I LOVE it that your son is an enthusiastic mechanic !!! ( Whispering, "This is fun !" ) He's hooked. I also love that you and the local WKRP kid have history. Nice. My band was supposed to open up for Ronnie Montrose at the Last Day Saloon but he passed TWO weeks prior.
Well, I've spent less for a worse car - but she'll be a $6000 car when you're done. If the previous owner had to replace a qtr. of the floor, he should've just replaced the whole thing - but that horse has left the stable, hasn't it? Positives: It got home. And for Mr. DubWerks - he dodged a bullet on that unexpected oil change...but we learn something new everyday. Nice choice in oil: $1 Quaker State Peak Performance :) Thanks for havin' us over!
Good times brother, yup got yourself a little work on that red beauty... might be a good flip Beetle! Dub Werks losing the drain plug... lol too funny!
Dear 5150mxVW and son. 👍👌👏 Very well done again (rescue, video and work... uhm... pushing single cab around). ;-) 2) Your newest purchase is still a good one because the car is in a really good condition. Some things simply have to be fixed. It is an over 60 years old vehicle in the end. 3) I really hope that Dubs bug engine can be saved. Good luck to him. As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you. Post Scriptum: I simply love how your great little petrolhead son is acting. Well raised, maaan, well raised indeed. Congrats!
6:46 Sign D is very difficult to get hold of. It looks old. Existed before stickers were invented. For anyone who does not know what it is, it is the sign used on German cars fifty sixty years ago. D = Deutschland (Germany)
Well Jason, the '64 has its issues but nothing that can't be overcome, it still looks "the goods", and over here in Australia it would be worth at least $15,000 as it is everyday, who knows what when fixed up. You'd surely have a good rust free platform, a bit of "artfull" work to give it the original chassis tag number, you'll have a neat, valuable '64 40hp 1200. I'd love it with board racks, just like the one my cuz and I traveled and surfed the east coast of Australia in in 1967...
Man I hope Dub didn't hash that engine. Wonder if he saw the oil pressure light and was able to pull off or if there was another more serious symptom. The grit on that plate doesn't bode well for his chances that it's not hurt. He may have to pull it apart and put bearings in it. Definitely some Amateur Hour work on that 64 but nothing that you can't clean up. Still a solid car. That wiring, though. Yeikes. -Shane
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Muppet Show & Saturday morning Tootsie-Roll pop references.....🤣🤣🤣 Yup....someone grew up in the '70s!!!👍👍👍 (You got 10yrs on me J!) 12:04...Nice shirt Dubwerx!! (Btw....that's what I've called my VW service since 2001 when I was 19......I'm WERX/RVA now.....Vintage VW & MX.....👍dig it )
Some new floor pans in your future, and some package tray issues. But damn those body mounts ARE nice! Those "eyelids" work great to protect CV joint boots on front drive cars when you are cutting off the sway bar bushings nearby... Both you and your buddy need to get rid of those crappy 009s and get the proper vacuum distributors back on. The drivability will be much better. And hope Dub's engine is not hurt too bad, and I always was a Jonny Fever fan!
aren't those body mounts fantastic :)) ...I just got my car and it came with the 009 . Dubwerks got the correct distributor for his shortly after the vid . I think his engine survived as his oil light came on and he shut it down . Have a great weekend
Its always fun to own and drive a vw bug when u have someone to depend on to when it breaks. i dont know anything about engines but i love them classic cars :D
I’d say it’s still a good score, not the score of a lifetime but a good score. Oh look, there’s Dibs again 😂 A video without Josh just isn’t he same, good to see him as always.
$6000 is that ok for a 64 in the states ? Even tho it needs possibly new floors ,wiring and a good service that’s a decent price in U.K. dubworx tut tut but good to see you rescued him Again
Damn, How long did he drive it with no oil? by the time the oil light came on the engine is toast. You could see when he took off the old oil plate huge chunks of metal. @13:00. Who doesn't remember to tighten the oil drain plug. Engine probably has 100 miles left before grenades.....
You had it on the lift, why didn't you check out why the brakes were toast??? Go for the safety stuff first then the oil, especially if you weren't going to drive it for a bit. I can understand being worried about the engine. You might consider a compression check too. I love that you have a great little helper there who already know what the first thing to check on a stranded car. Well done teaching your son to be good with his hands as well as the noggin. You obviously are a good friend as well from the way you treated your rescue stranded driver.
You should never buy any car without checking it out. Especially from that neck of the woods. LMAO I don't know too much about bugs but it seems like it's got some good points. You probably have lots of bug parts to bring her back. Good luck!
very true , I was in a good mood haha....I saw the a/b pillars , rockers , spare tire well and saw enough ( solid )...after all the total rot boxes I drag home I was in on a runner with some paint and BRM's :). It does have some very good points and it will nice to work on it as a driver . thank you , have a great weekend
I will give you $2000.00 for it! AS IS! Lol. I saw a 65 go for over $20,000.00 and it was not in great condition, it was painted once and was stock. I thought who ever bought it was nuts! Was it HAIR OF THE DOG? Roger in Pierre South Dakota
A '64 Bug with a nice paint, nice interior and nice rims; I would have paid $6K. A patchwork quilt undercarriage, (to quote "A Guy"), just pretend you didn't see that.
Nice video 5150, and the glass is half full on the 64 for sure. What would Dubworks do without you, you’re a good friend. Did the drain plug work loose on his ‘67?
thank you AB , he's a great kid and a throwback ...yes , i guess maybe the jack ( engine install ? ) had something to do with it or he didn't snug it up ....sounds like it's all good , he's going to change the oil today but temps seem ok he said ....have a great weekend , Jason

Will your children be sad when you die, or relieved? You decide. I was relieved when my father died.
Happy Father's Day to one of the best Dad's in the world! Our best to Jen and Josh and thanks for the adventure. Man I miss New England.
Thanks for the rescue again J! Love the look of the '64, just needs a bit of help LOL '67 will be at Terryville!
I bought a `73 bug a long time ago for $300. It had no floors. I drove it home on Christmas with no plates. That was fun!
sounds like a great Christmas😁
Just Great all they VW, but the Star is definitely Josh, what a great Kid, just full of excitement being with his Dad. And VWs 😄
Good story telling man! A very enjoyable 20 minutes. Josh is straight out of central casting as “the kid”.

Your video was a great Saturday morning wake up experience boy your kid has really grown up he is getting bigger and taller

Your very welcome J. I have watched a lot of your videos lately so when I don't see you for several days, I actually miss you. Keep on pushing.
thank you ...haha! Picking up another one tomorrow and yes , i'll be pushing it into the shop ! :)

A little subliminal Tommy Boy reference as well...😂
Kid gets greasy? No problem.
Have a great Father's Day everyone!
Happy Father’s Day to you too!
So, what's the total Dad? Yeah, Josh has got your back. John here, from the back-roads of Tennessee.
haha, that was funny ...i miss the days I'd get at least 53 cents 😀
Dang I never seen a fuse box set up like that. 😳 Honestly a lot of positives to the ride! Still a nice car!!
Josh checks for gas first!! Smart lil guy there!! WKRP shirt?!?!? 😁 At least it’s was an easy fix for the dub Werks!!
Everything else aside in this video, the best take away is Josh rockin' out to Rock Candy! Better than his love of VW's IMHO...
Surprises are the fun part of buying used cars. And a car was pushed. I'm so glad I didn't know what a snow plow marker was. Great fun video!

Very satisfying to see that oil get changed. I like watching your work in action. More please.
thank you Roger , 10-4 👍
That is awesome your son just knew to immediately check the tank first that’s great starting the enthusiasm early 🤙🏻
Haha , well the last time we got called to rescue him my son checked his gas in the shop and .....🤣. The 67 1st drive vid , pretty funny 😁

Great video as usual
