I'm a single mum who became a homeowner last year. It was a huge milestone for me! Having suffered large impact from covid ,On top of that, I'm also fortunate enough to have a pretty decent monthly income through my successful strategic investments. As a result, I have carefully planned for my retirement after my kids are done with college.
Wow, very intriguing! Currently, I am looking for investing ideas or recommendations. Earlier this year, I hesitated and did not take any action till now. However, I am motivated to try something new because I am quite open to other investing opportunities. I want to retire in my forties or fifties. I sincerely wish I could achieve what you've accomplished, and I believe it will happen.
It's essential to comprehend the complexities of investing. Having a trustworthy support system, such as a financial adviser, who can advise you is crucial, especially when choosing assets.
Thanks for the advice but it's hard to get a trustworthy financial professional around here. Seeing what you have accomplished I would like to know your specialist.
In general, investing requires higher knowledge. For this reason, it's important to have a solid support structure to guide you through especially in asset picking. I operate with (Alex martin tarlor) an investment specialist who partners with a licensed wealth management firm.
Thanks for talking about your financial consultant. I will definitely look him up and get in touch with him
Things my friends and I do as single moms to save money:
Trade services: example; I do cut and colour on a friend and she does my taxes
Babysit: take turns watching each others kids instead of paying a sitter to get your errands done
Pot luck party with your friends and everyone bring containers to share leftovers after
Books, toys, clothes swap
Great tips on trading services
love that! even those who aren't single mums can learn from this and save money
These are fantastic ideas!
Libraries are a great place for FREE entertainment and learning.
Free books, movies, activities, and lectures. Some libraries have quiet study rooms that can be used.
Darling, please re consider on taxes. To decline professional service, it means you "leave money on the table". It is far too expensive to consider doing this. For example, did you get the Saver's Credit in 2023? Ask the nice lady what the dollars are? Is your business a hobby or actual business? If it is an actual business, can you use Form 8829? Oh, you can? Does it help you by reducing tax? Believe me, over time, you can improve but not by someone trading for cuts and color.
That $35 Amazon cart thing is how I get free shipping. 💰
I am terrified at not having enough money to survive. That motivates me to save money and life is very good for me financially-:)
I'm the same and if you don't have it you dont spend it haha....common sense!
Common Sense rules in this world that we live in-:)
This is very true.
I like how you point out that breaking down the $500, into $17 a day may seem more doable. Psychologically, it made it feel much easier to accomplish for me. Great tip!
You can do it!
I do that. How? I have two bank Accts from two different financial institutions. As soon as I get paid I go to one bank and withdraw a large Amount of paycheck (leaving some for everyday bills). Then I go to the other bank and deposit it into a savings I never touch. This way I have less cash on me for, and more savings for real needs and cannot buy much. And doing this, I am about to become debt free after being over 20k in debt
I have $500 a month automatically removed towards a TFSA. I don't make that much money as a retiree, but I am able to do that. 😊
I cancelled Amazon prime today, because of poor packaging of my purchases. I was spending 800 a month extra on stuff I didn’t need.
There is a high price to pay for convenience for sure. Once you start seeing your money grow it's a great incentive!!
$15 dollars for Amazon prime , it's 8 pounds in UK.🇬🇧
Holy smokes! I watch A LOT of videos on this topic and you covered so much in a very organized and concise manner. I like how you don't hold back - for the most part, we are responsible for our situations. I also like your energy and tone - nothing more irritating than an annoying voice!
Well done!
Thanks so much!
I'm doing it thanks to you, you made me think about the fact that I don't need to continue to buy things that I don't even use, I had a hording problem actually and it made me very depressed all did was buy things thinking it would make me feel better it did for a moment then it wore off, I even wanted to buy a classic car a fifty nine Cadillac but friends and family talked me out of it thank Goodness..I don't want to ever do that again because it made my life hell.😓😓😓.Im glad I realized it's okay to not have everything!!😁
Wonderful video! So true about Amazon Prime. I had that very experience recently of looking at my order history and thinking I could have lived without so much of it. I'm trying a no-buy year for 2023. In just 2 weeks there have been so many times I was going to buy something but then didn't. Very eye opening. Congratulations on the continuing growth of your channel-well deserved!
This is actually something I might write. I have wasted so much money with Amazon and eBay that when I look back through my purchase lists I cringe. The positive is that I have stopped buying unnecessary stuff that I wouldn't have given a second thought to in the past and, like you 2023 is a No Spend Year!
I smiled at your comment about making a grocery list and sticking to it. When we went through the covid lockdown I stayed home as I have health issues. A friend took my lists and bought the groceries. After a while I realized I was saving a lot of money. She was sticking to the lists. Evidently I hadn’t been doing that.
You are right. The small amounts add up.
It is the little changes that become routine habits that matter. I regularly pay in cash and empty my purse each week of coins and save them up - this makes a couple of pounds a month! I liked your point that if you have treats all the time, then they cease to be treats. I like real tea (not tea bags) and coffee (not instant) , for example that I make at home. Recently, due to being mega busy, I ran out. Felt very deprived for three days - yet it had got to the point where I didn't realise how delicious it was. Rather than order it and wait a day or two for delivery I actually drove the shop (in another town) to buy some more!
Your videos keep getting better and better!
I appreciate that!
Yeah they are great 💙
Great message Nicole. It's definitely a good tip about Amazon Prime! Most of us really DON'T need it. Also really enjoying the b-roll in this video 😍
May I add to your list, do not save your address and credit card / debit card info anywhere. Make it so you have to find the card and retype the info for every single online purchase. Also, see if your grocery store has an app with digital sales flyers / coupons. I plan meals around the weekly deals.
This was honestly way better than money saving tips videos from big finance channels. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I like how you broke down things by percentage of income
Wow when you put it in the perspective of “that’s a lot of money to be lighting on fire every month” that really resonated with me. My issue is eating out too much. Like @thats a lot of money to be literally flushing down the toliet every month)
I am fairly new to budgeting my money and also downsizing stuff. I wish I would have been open to this years ago. Better late than never, I suppose. With the help of my hubby, I am now on a budget and can see my actual savings. This inspires me to do little money challenges to save even more money. I appreciate your videos and helpful tips... Kris
Nicole, not to be corny but! You have inspired me to actually make changes in my life more than any other person on this platform. I love how practical your advice is. You just make it seem so doable. Love your whole approach to things and the vibes??? Immaculate ✨
Hey Nicole, your channel is new to me but I love your content. I’m hooked watching something of yours almost every day. I’m 64 and have learned more from you than all my life living! Lol! You’re smart, funny and I love your no nonsense approach to everything. Thank you! Keep making your videos! I also love your little buddy!🐶
This is timely, I was just trying to figure this out last night❤🙏🏻 I just switched car insurance went from $70/mo to $47/month🙌🏻 big deal for me. No smoking or drinking, but I need to let go of the $5 coffee 😬 but I stopped my prime membership today.
Just paused the video, cancelled amazon prime, and came back. Thank you!
Hell yeah 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I have cut £50/month in subscriptions and I am minding my groceries and avoiding spending on unnecessary items. Just these costs together will save me £135 monthly. In a year, £1620. Money is like calories, if you don't watch out closely, you pile up the kg quickly.
That’s a great way to look at it.
This is so simple, but so brilliant!
It's easy to forget what a massive impact our mindset can have👍
Thanks N! I do $13 a day my lucky 🍀 number 😂 … I totally agree about prime got rid of it a few months ago what a colossal waste I don’t even need it I realized!
I just did a minimum spend January. I don’t have mortgage or debt etc but food in the U.K. is so expensive. meal planned around a freezer full of food. Surprising what you can live in. I treat it as a game where it’s me versus the greedy.
Super good advice! Yes, lots of little adjustments we can make each month to get more $ in your pocket. Idea: talk about teaching kids about money with your kids and helping them develop good habits.
She's actually helped me so much just by watching her video, simple things that might seem so simple that are not so simple are put in more perspective and clarity
I have $125 taken out before I get my paycheck each week so I really don't miss it
The budget class we never knew we needed. And we get a great teacher. Thank you!
Yay new video!!! Been waiting before going to bed. Watching from Philippines 🇵🇭
By the way, it's 11pm now in my Country🇵🇭
Using an inexpensive bicycle to get to and from work has saved me a lot of dough. And if I'm too tired or the weather is $hit I just bike to the train station and use mass transit.
When I lived in Seattle I barely used my car, I saved time and money using an electric bike to get just about every where in the area it was amazing!
Overall I'm pretty happy with my budget but. ..Definitely over spending on snacks and fast food. I work alot and my work can be stressful so I think it's due to stress eating and feeling I never have time...😩
Very good info. Thank You!
Great video Nicole!
Good video thanks for the information.
Keep up the good work!💪💪💪
Great vid! Thank you for those tips.
Great video!! ❤️ Keep them coming!
The breaking it down into small numbers is great. It makes it seem possible rather than big numbers that seem so unreachable. I am sort of becoming obsessed with these videos to help me keep this modest spending going. Between these videos and the Ramsey show, I am realizing I don't need what I want most of the time. I am loving going to a store to buy something and only leave with that something, this is hard for me at a grocery store but I managed that yesterday. I always find myself wandering around and then buying stuff I didn't plan on buying and don't actually need.
So happy your channel is growing! You and Levi deserve it! Much love from AZ 😀
Another great video Nicole !!!!👏👏👏
This is a wonderful video. Thank you for posting
Omg! I canceled my Amazon Prime membership! I don’t even know how many years I’ve had it and they charge my card annually and I don’t realize it until after the charge, yet until now I hadn’t made any effort to cancel it. It is now canceled!!! It feels like a weight lifted off me! I wasn’t even using all the stuff that came with it. Netflix is next. Thanks for these great tips!
congrats on the 10k. you have a great backlog of videos for us new subs. hard work paying off.
My addictions stop me. Smoaking and drinking. But I plan to get a less stressful job and quit or merely use them way less to save more. Your vids are so inspiring and well made. Thank you for your contributions
Great stuff. I love the mathematical breakdown this helps out a lot.
I love these type of videos. This and your minimalism videos are the way to my heart.
You're putting out the best content Nicole, I'd love to see more videos of you talking about your philosophies!
Hi Nicole. What I like about your videos is that not only do you give practical tips but you hive mindset tips too. You are very encouraging. Thank you.
Great video, as always, thanks Nicole! I came across your channel a while ago and I highly respect your lifestyle, character and priorities.
You inspired me so much! I immediately opened my calculations and edited some of the numbers and subscriptions. Thank you!
Nicole, you could totally do a TED talk and become a famous influencer! Please think about it.
Nicole you are wise beyond your years! You give me hope ! Thank you ❤
Thank you Nicole, I absolutely love your videos. Lots of love to you and your furbaby. 🌻
Great goal. Thanks for sharing.
I've been binge watching your videos. You are so young yet have so much wisdom. Love your channel and Levi
Just started following you recently and I’m enjoying your videos. I find our mindsets to be similar in many areas. ❤
Great channel. Useful and informative with a dash of humor. I've been learning a lot. Thanks, Nicole!
Congratulations Nicole! You hit 10K Subscribers! 🥳Love your channel and Levi🐾, you make so much sense to me. Love from Australia.❤
Love your videos learn so much 🤗
You are excellent and always entertaining. Such good advice here.
10K!! Congratulations Nicole!
thank youuuu
Wow I live in Europe and it is crazy for me to think that people pay for Amazon Prime if you can have free delivery anyway. In my country we have a different marketplace like Amazon and you have to pay like 10 USD a YEAR to get free delivery but for orders above around 10 USD. Also, you can invite around 8 or 10 people to that so they can have free delivery over 10 USD to and still I know more people who don't have it because they don't need it than people that are.
I thought Amazon Prime is something similar. 50 dollars a month? what a waste of money!
I am 52 and wanting to semi retire this year , only work part time, and I am saving about 350 a month at this point for my retirement. Thanks for the ideas.
👏👏 great motivation… I like how you go towards the philosophy rather than specific tips 🔥
One thing about Amazon I noticed too is that it's easy to accidentally sign up for prime. I'm usually very careful about that kind of stuff, but something must've gone wrong & I had to have accidentally clicked something. Fortunately I realized it & canceled immediately, but it made me wonder if anyone else has done the same & didn't realize it in time (or ever).
Im transitioning in careers and this advice is inspiring
Your channel is great. I watch a lot of these channels. This has something new for me. I liked the % viewpoint and the Amazon section. Ta.
You rock. Love your opinions and experience.
Wow! You're good. Nailed it!!
Hi, Thank you for sharing your knowledge, suggestions, ideas & facts. You are a very smart young lady. So happy to have found your channel. TFS ✌
You have inspired me!
Thank you Nicole…..from Melbourne x
I like your videos cause u explain the info in easy digestible bites I also like the fact you are so authentic I think your channel is great I love your content!
Very helpful and insightful.
My fav part was when Levi was activating his power saving mode! Even he is practicing saving! 🐾
He's too cute 😄💝💝💝💝
Thanks Michelle. Just want to say Thanks for all the info. I agree with the blunt label you gave to the car ins co. I approached the last company I had several times for a lower price. (I had no accidents/offense: a clean record) Same old song and dance no results. When I decided to go car less, I dropped them with no explanation. It was two policies, renters also. They continued to send me their brochure even now 4 years later. They did me wrong, I didn't owe them an explanation.
I don’t have a car now but keep up my driver’s license for $8:00 a month. I have a clean record & would have to go back to zero if I didn’t keep it open.
Money mom talked about your channel. You have such a great perspective as a young person. I'm learning so much.
Good video. I'm pretty sure I am not your target audience but I shared this with my oldest son and hopefully he can put some of these tips in place. Keep up the good work!
Great video. Thanks
Thank you for another great video, Nicole!
Thanks for watching!
Good video. I totally agree with your comments about Prime. It’s far too easy to impulse spend on the internet generally I feel.
Great video!🎉
Great video - again! 😊 Heading towards 10.000 subscribers! I remember on 22 December 2022 you had 5.000. In term of percentage it is 100% growth! Very impressive!😊
Oh you are so right. Amazon prime really kicked my butt. Thanks for the 35.00 tip, I did not know.
My voice is on a budget, I’m only saying two words, “excellent video,” thanks so much for posting.
Thank you. 2023 is the year I want to take charge of my finances and stop being a semi responsible adult. Your tips made complete sense.
I love your videos. You have the wisdom of a much older person. Your channel has helped me to save money too
I have a written budget and track all my extra spending. This really helps me save more. I look at my budget every morning.
There are also apps like shopkick, fetch, and ibota to help us see a small return on our purchases. Just don't buy stuff you don't normally buy. Great vid, Nicole!
I got into fetch last fall and I am challenging myself not to cash In points but to save them up!
I really like your videos. You provide a ton of info which is very timely for me. Your enthusiasm is contagious, something I need. Thanks
Thank you so much! I am living on a low income. I am also a single mother of two teenage boys. I have been trying so hard not to spend money that I don’t need to
I agree with cancelling Amazon prime and comparing insurance costs. Also Sam 's club and Costco.
To save on movie subscriptions, I get a free month of Netflix/Hulu once a year and binge on the shows/series I want to see, then cancel before they charge me for the next month.
Same 🙌🏼🤣
Thank you for this video
I just like you so much, Nicole! You always get right to the point, and it's extremely refreshing!
