I remenber the game like it was yesterday . The best StEteinne no dought but also the end of the great St Etienne after that game. Les verts would never be the same

Me and a mate thumbed a lift and ended up getting to the ground at five o'clock! Thousands of green and white scarved Frenchmen were already there. The noise on the Kop doesn't come over at all on this video. When Fairclough scored, I went down about fifteen rows without my feet touching the ground. I remember all the experiences like it was yesterday but hardly anything about the actual game!
This is the greatest club football game of all times.
I was at that game and for pure joy and excitement it has to be in my top five of all LFC game I've been to. JFT96
Hi i was 11 years old i reminber watch that game on tv in France , Liverpool and Saint Etienne was a great team in Europe at this times .and i guess for ever
Every Liverpool Player BRITISH, wages nominal, it was ALL about the passion playing for LIVERPOOL FC & there supporters. Today is just a Farcical Money Circus. I paid 50p to get into that game, mitched off school travelled 300 miles in a crappy old motor with my older Brothers & started queuing at 12.00. The KOP was jammers by 6.00. My most memorable Liverpool game EVER. Thankfully the motor made the 600 mile round trip. Those were the days.
Me dad took me out of school at 10am, we went the twelve miles to Anfield, on his motorbike, we was amongst the verts in anny rd end.

Liverpool lost the away game 1-0 so when St Etienne equalised we had to score two more to go through. St Etienne were a very good side, so comfortable on the ball. I was in the paddock for that game, to the left were a large contingent of French supporters "ALLEZ LES VERTS!!!!", and, of course, the KOP was to the right. What an atmosphere, of all the games I've seen at Anfield that one stands out - and you can imagine the noise when David Fairclough scored that vital third goal.

St etienne were a fantastic football team then and went toe to toe with us all game.And its a shame you dont see football like this no more because football has changed so much over the years and these days players are wrapped up in cotton wool.And the health and saftey fifa mafia are ruining football with all these nonsensical rules and regulations and we need to go back to pure football...

St Etienne était un club top top à ce moment-là et il a produit beaucoup de grands joueurs. Je suis un partisan de Liverpool. ;)
***** Et tu as vu le nombre de supporteurs stéphanois aussi ? Et si tu regarde attentivement, il n'y avait aucun grillage pour séparer les deux camps adverses. Même si il y avait une zone réservé pour les supporteurs de l'équipe visiteuse. Une époque ou les gens se respectaient encore. Mais en 8 ans, tout a changé puisque il y a eu le drame du Heysel.
Oui Stephane, d'accord, maintenant le respect est parti, et Heysel était un désastre imminent. Un grand match de la Coupe est un décrépit, stade dangereux.
