Samuel Ashton I think that’s a product of his nature. He seems to be a very private person that doesn’t talk that much in interviews, it’s not that he’s under appreciated, it’s more that he chooses not to take the spotlight. If anything they’re all pretty private.
I adore the way Jonny stays utterly mute and lets Hans and Thom talk for the entire interview, then chimes in at the end for the perfect, succinct, thoughtful wrap up.
There is a really cool interview with him discussing the Ondes Martenot, one of the electronic instruments similar to a theremin, which is a big part of Kid A.
*correction Hans Zimmer One of the most *well-known* and by a very general audience loved *film* composers in modern history. If you're talking about real composers I'm missing names like Georg Friedrich Haas & Thomas Ades.
*Hans is so good that they should start putting his name in those leafy golden brackets in the start* *Because hans zimmer composing your score is an accomplishment right there*
I feel like many of the viewers think that Hans Zimmer is the one that completely changed the song, it is different to the 2011 version, but if you watch the video of Thom playing it live in 2016 it's much more similar. I still love Hans Zimmer, he is probably my favourite soundtrack composer and Radiohead is by far my favorite band. Great video.
@carcosa it's funny how people assume 'a lot of people' is doing something only because they are doing it themselves. Guess what, all the people I know who watched the show and enjoyed it, don't get 'high'. You don't need stimulants to enjoy something beautiful, so you kind of missing the point.
@@aleynalimon7850 honestly any Radiohead song is so beautiful composed (excluding Pablo honey, lol) it could be rearranged to a cinematic theme. Btw I love Pablo honey so don’t come at me I know some people who feel that way, I don’t know why but they do. Ok done messing around
I listen to this on repeat and cry. I cannot express how much I love the beauty of the ocean, how powerful it is yet so fragile, and this complete perfect expression of everything the water on our planet is, is astonishing. Thom and Johnny's musical genius combined with hanz zimmer is simply the greatest thing to happen to humanity. An angelic voice with the crashing of the waves, the chaotic rise and fall of the music is gorgeous and I refuse to listen to anything else.

Stallone Santiago "Open your mouth wiiiide!" WTH is wrong with you people? Is this considered music nowadays. The best score would have been made by Hans Zimmer alone. The Radiohead vocals ruins the entire song.
It seems _Radiohead_ has always been a pioneer of something! And man does Hans Zimmer add class to anything with his music; guy's a legend. Good video Christophe and Gina 😄
Jesper Wiebke Oh yeah. The Interstellar score changed my life. It's not that it's emotional, it's the fact that it perfectly encapsulates that "greater than day to day" life feeling.
Two of my favorite musicians working together, this really excites me. It is also quite a coincidence for me as I have been listening to specifically just Hans Zimmer and Radiohead a lot recently, so for them to work together really is something.
I just love when the orchestra starts playing one note at the beginning of the show for them to tune their instruments. I sometimes wish they can just keep doing it the entire show, I would be completely happy with it.
The fun fact here is that either Jonny or Hans are the current frontrunners for Best Score at the 2022 Oscars, so it'll definitely be interesting to see either of their speeches and comments after the ceremony...even though the Academy Awards place in modern culture seems to decline with every passing year
So many chances for Hans, Thom and Jonny to give each other some love and share how cool it must have been for these geniuses to work together. In stead they only talk about their own contributions. Imagine this conversation if they would share each others contributions...
Man whoever edited this video was just great. All VOX videos are so well edited and how smoothly transitions are just makes me wanna watch more. I wish If I could learn video editing like this. Kuddos to editor and the whole team :)
He doesn't write scores. He writes soundtracks. You can say it's the same thing, but his mindless garbage doesn't warrant being called anything else but chord masturbation or soundtracks.
I feel like Thom Yorke and Hans Zimmer didn't get a long very well. He never once looked at Hans. When speaking, Thom felt more comfortable looking at Jonny, which is someone he feels probably more comfortable with since they are in the same band together. He even interrupted Hans in the intro during the pointillism discussion. I don't think Thom was trying to be rude, but I can tell Hans was trying to be cool with it. At 2:15, right before the scene transitions, as Hans is talking, Thom glances up toward Johnny, like "Give me a break, dude". The main difference between the two can be seen at 3:37 when, again, Thom interrupts Hans to talk about the ocean. If you notice when Hans is talking about the ocean and it's shape, Thom quickly smiles and it goes away as soon as Hans stops talking about the ocean, but the more Hans keeps talking about the ocean, Thom's face lights up, which is when we go into the discussion of Thom describing his take on the ocean, which is more poetic than Hans' version of the ocean. Finally, during the final discussion, Thom is only looking at Jonny. If you look over at Hans, I think he's wondering why he isn't included in that conversation. It's like Hans isn't ever there. At the end, Hans gives an awkward smile and nods in agreement. He laughs only because Thom and Jonny are laughing. You can see him playing with his thumb and rubbing his ankle at the end. Kind of awkward all around.
Eric Medina maybe because Hans did a great job with this composition that's why he is being praised and Thom likes to be the only one in the spotlight ... I think is more about Thom's ego
Patricia Vasquez Oh shut up, Thom doesn't have much of an ego. He has been notorious for being extremely shy and well, weird. Also, Zimmer said that he was "star struck" by Jonny and Thom. So, there are no hard feelings.
I'm here for Radiohead but I got to give huge praise to BBC, they produce amazing nature series, I just finished Human Planet last week and it was superb.
What a beautiful analogy and allegory for life itself - trillions upon trillions of life forms upon this blue planet, with the occasional one rising to create a melody, an impact, before sinking back into the anonymous background that is time. We may be insignificant, but we are all a part of the whole. 💖🌏🌍🌎💖
it's such a fascinating element of music that it's possible to make some principles behind an existing work of music come to life in a new way. it's great when a band does this (f.e. like spinning plates on amnesiac vs live) but it's even greater when another artist finds another purpose to the core musical idea.
Blue planet is a masterpiece of the audiovisual discipline. This composition is going to elevate it further. Truly an amazing human development in the audiovisual arts.

Hans Zimmer and Radiohead.
What a collaboration. Insane amount of talent.

Ivor Biggan one of the best not the best.
Love that little nod between Thom and Jonny - of knowing.
I like how Johnny brings the focus back afterwards in a complemented way
Thom Yorke: Brilliant musician, terrible judge of pants.
Right?!?! I'm pretty sure that was actually just a sweatshirt that he was wearing on his legs.
If Yorke is wearing sweatshirt pants, the neck hole alone would have many applications. Brilliant man.

Fascinating how this one song can be adapted in so many beautiful ways. The idea stays the same even if the form changes!
