A decent cam, 243 heads and an LS6 intake coupled with the standard bolt ons to this day is still a fine budget N/A street combo. If you can hook that up consistently you'll surprise more than a few people light to light.

Solid advice! I'm on my 3rd 4th gen now, I've done most of the things you talked about. First mods were slp airlid and loudmouth exhaust, then Kooks long tubes. Then I installed a Tick stage 2 street heat cam and had my 243's ported. With a tune it made 431hp and 398lb ft of torque. One other mod I would definitely recommend (especially for t-top cars) is weld in sub frame connectors. Along with a strut tower brace it's like night and day as far as chassis flex is concerned.
Thanks for watching. You got a good working car.I got the subframe connectors and strut tower brace on mine. They definitely helped but mine are bolt on.The weld in ones are the best way to go for sure.

Great video!! Just curious on what the half shaft mod is, I have a 2000 trans am and did some research on it and can't find any info on what it all entails
The throttle plate or butterfly sits in the middle of the throttle shaft with half the throttle shafts covering the front and the other half coving the back.I cut the front part of the shaft off so it just has the back part of the shaft holding the throttle plate.I don't know if I explained that too well but it is a waste of time anyways I think.I never noticed any improvement with that or the porting of the throttle body. But it was free so I did it.

No they won't.Aleast not without alot of modifications. But I believe the do sell a ypipe that will make them work with your stock cat back exhaust.Congrates on picking up such a low mileage SS.
Did you find a difference with just the intake upgrade ? was it the lsxr? bought a stock 2000 Camaro ss recently myself and wanted to upgrade to ls6 intake but they are not available.. thanks in advance !

Well if set up properly nitrous can be a easy way to add some serious power fairly cheaply. There is always a risk of something going wrong and grenading the engine but that's true with anything you do to these cars.
Well if you haven't already bought a larger throttle body I would recommend you hold off because it has been proven that there is very little to no power gains if your throttle body is larger than the opening on your intake manifold. But if you already have one then you can usually find adapters on eBay or Amazon that will work.
Well usually these cars have great throttle response so if your car is lagging or has hesitation then could be a bad sensor somewhere on the car. These issues can be pretty hard to diagnose especially if there are no trouble codes in the ECM to point you in the right direction. You didn't mention weather you have a manual or automatic but if you have an automatic with 2:73 gears they can be a little sluggish because of the gears.
Thanks.I am actually a big fan of the Gen 2 LT1.I hope to get more videos next summer on the 94 Z28 that we have on the channel.I think the owner is interested in doing some more modifications to it so we will be there to get that on video.
I have a 95 Z28 convertible, and I'm constantly looking on UA-cam for channels that have LT1/LT4 upgrades. Would you be okay if I post some of your videos to a LT1 Facebook group?
That's a good question. We are actually trying to figure that out ourselves because the 1994 Camaro Z28 that has appeared on the channel is going to need some tuning next summer because the owner is interested in doing a cam for his car. From what I can tell there is a program called LT1 edit and another called Tuner cat.We are going to dig up whatever info we can to see what's the best option. But it could be awhile before we feature anything on this channel. So my advice to you would be to contact someone who has experience tuning these cars. One example would be PCM for less.I had this guy do a little tuning for me about 20 years ago and I see he is still on the Internet.Wish I could be of more help but tuning is very new to me also.
That's not much of an upgrade. Small bump in displacement yes but the heads and intake are a very small improvement over the LS1. If your LS1 is in good shape a set of aftermarket or ported heads and cam will perform much better than a stock LS2.
This is true but finding an LS2 is the problem. They are not that common in salvage yards and I don't think GM sells them anymore and it they did it would be hugely expensive. At that cost you may as well buy a stroker motor. This channel is about getting the most out of what you already have as cheaply as possible. Of course there is nothing cheap about modifying cars but it's usually done over several years. If cost wasn't an issue then a stroker motor or an LS3 would be the way to go.
Have been beating the living shit outta my Camaro since 05' I've only had to do the brakes once, On my second clutch and trans, but I've had to swap out the 10 bolt half dozen time's. Couple times I only got only4-5 hard launches on sticky tires before they howl. $200 a pop at the junk yard! Till last few years they have gotten scarce for that price. So I did a 31spline 8.8. with 3.73s out a explorer paired with my t-56 out of a GTO that has the 2.92 zo6 gears and triple coned synchro's. Tranny shifts like butter over 7k but I don't like the low gearing with a stick car. it's almost as bad when I had 4.10s I only gained 3 10ths of a second vs 3.42s and lost half gas milage.243s are good but overrated! If your n/a Just go with 862s or 706s the smaller valve develop power faster and the better cc chamber. make more overall power and I'm comparing them to my 243's that were actual ls6 heads with better lighter stainless hollowed sodium filled valves I made biggest power gains from the cam swap and NOS!

Well I agree the LS3 is a great engine. A set of CNC Catherdral port heads will flow just as good while making more low end torque.
Swap in an LS 2.
That's not much of an upgrade. Small bump in displacement yes but the heads and intake are a very small improvement over the LS1. If your LS1 is in good shape a set of aftermarket or ported heads and cam will perform much better than a stock LS2.
@@LSxMotorsports2021 who said stock? If you are going to do bolt on upgrades then obviously you do the same to the LS2.
@@LSxMotorsports2021 To each his own. My LS2 giggles.
Gen5lt1. Go big or go home
Solid advice. Thanks for watching and commenting we really appreciate it.
Why ruin a perfect gen 1 sbc in a gen 3 platform? A gen4 camaro, yes LS makes perfect sense
Dude you don’t even have one so why talk…
I don't have what?
