    While they may not "do well" some of us really do enjoy the hell out of the viper videos! Some people cant seem to understand that cars do more than straight line 1/4s and 1/8ths. Do what you love and the audience will follow!

    Adding the silicone bronze over the top also changes the harmonics / vibration that cause the cracking with a dampening effect. The stainless is hard and relatively brittle compaied to the softer vidration absorbing bronze. Using both also gives the fully welded strength of the stainless penertrating weld and the vibration obsorbing effect of the brazed bronze. Great idea.

    What’s going on with the stainless nuts is the act of tightening the nut rubs off the oxide layer of the metal and the pieces being up against each other no oxygen get in between and creates more oxide the pieces cold weld because the electrons can flow freely between them .

    • @young11984
      @young11984 3 роки тому +2

      On mine the stainless crimp nuts actually gall themselves to the thin stainless where its tightening against, one never even took up the slack before it self welded to the companion metal. After that every one since gets plain washers, anti seize and double nuts to lock it down, i dont even use the nuts that come with them anymore but keep them for emergency track use where i always manage to drop at least one

    Imo some narrative over the viper racing videos explaining the lines, braking points, and driving strategy to set up a pass would make them way cooler. Along with identifying rivals and competition so the viewers can get a feeling for what the goal/suspense is.. Tell a story like Taylor Ray does in some of his videos, but that's just me.

    I love all the “construction “ content. But the road racing support content is just as interesting as well. The in car camera (both forward and rear facing views) superimposed on the track position indication is very enjoyable. I enjoy the lap time/speed/track position juxtaposition interesting. My only suggestion regarding the time lapse montage, would be that you could add some voice over that talks about the work you are doing as it happens, or even sidebar about the car etc. You are great at explaining things and watching you tinker and diagnose is fun to watch. Some insight on how your mind is working would be awesome.

    Loved today's show, ive noticed you actually make endurance drag cars, this is just what I've noticed, you had mentioned you had did some endurance racing and also your work on the viper in multiple lap racing you carry a lot of this over into the cars like mullet. In my opinion I think its real good engineering, remember I am coming into all this at 53 years old but with a fresh mind, I have a little mechanical knowledge. I love this as I am learning and thanks to you understanding so much, to learn how to do something is good but to understand why you need to do it is fantastic. Thank you for the education and that was a beautiful dress the little one had on, my youngest is nearly 20 but still likes her sparkles when going on a night out on the town. Hey Kevin,
    Tell me about your thoughts on ‘back-purging’; I’ve noticed that you do it, but there’s heaps of conflicting information.
    Also noticed that the headlight covers could do with the same Autosol treatment I recommended for the Viper windshield: trust me I did the same thing on several different cars & my son’s car failed a w.o.f., meaning it couldn’t be used on the road without either repair or replacement. Took it back for the ‘re-check’ & the guys couldn’t believe that I hadn’t replaced the headlights!!!!! The guy brought all the Tech’s out to see!
    Anyways, Kia Kaha,
    Grant from NZ.

    You could also use a spring washer between both nuts & instead of normal standard nuts you might want to try flanged nuts that have a knurled surface on the flange & then lock both flanges at each other with the spring washer in between then it should lock up & not come apart under severe vibration.
