The very best of the very best singers all time. Hands down. In any genre. Overwhelmingly beautiful. Effervescent, powerful, heartwarming, soul pounding...
There’s a reason why the singer Steve Perry is known simply as “The Voice”. Check out any of his live performances and you’ll be blown away. One of my favorites is “Mother, Father” live in Houston 1981.
The keyboard player wrote this song while touring and the rest of the band really brought it to life. It's a masterpiece. Fantastic reaction, young man!
Your reaction was EPIC!!! You are the first one to catch, what our generation was blessed with, seeing, hearing and feeling Steve's passion!! Please do more reactions to Journey and Steve Perry solo!!! I promise, you will not be disappointed!!
Congratulations! You reacted to the most beautiful power ballad a rock singer ever wrote or sang. I love it when I see younger folks listening to songs like this for the first time. It was music I grew up listening to and ever time I hear it I'm taken back to another when and where.
Freddie Mercury was asked how it was to have the best voice and he said "I don't know ask Sreve perry from journey, Steve perry is know as the voice. Don't stop believing is my favourite song, hr is absolutely awesome.❤
The fact that Prince asked the permission of Journey before releasing Purple Rain says a lot....for those who have not noticed...listen to the guitar solo in both and his inspiration will be clear.
Multiple top voice coaches have studied his voice. It is amazing 100% their stunned.. this was my day I will be riding down the street in my car and it would be on the radio that you need this today talent
Steve Perry is IMHO the greatest vocalist of all time! You are so right he puts so much passion in his singing it makes you feel every emotion that he is singing. All of Journeys /Steve Perry solo songs were all written about personal experiences that’s why he is so passionate when he sings. Check out the live performance from the 1981 live in Houston it is truly amazing the entire concert. You think he is singing his butt off in that video…wait till you hear him live!! I recommend Mother Father that will truly blow you away!!! Please please react to it!! I want to see your face for that one!
Steve is a rare example of what is produced from the combination of talent and training. His father was a classically trained opera singer and voice coach. The results are undeniable.
Alaska is called the Land of the Midnight Sun. That's why in the first couple of verses you see snow on the ground and steamed over bus windows. I notice a lot of reaction videos to this song don't make that connection. I love Steve Perry. That song makes women love him.
He had a God-given range that was unbelievable that’s what you’re born with in your voice your range plus his tonality is beautiful and his register. The muscles in his mouth the control is just staggering and his lung capacity. You’ll never hear him breathe the experts have said whatever you do folks if you’re a singer, don’t try to imitate Steve Perry it ain’t gonna happen. 🙏💋
This was a very joyful and heartfelt song. Steve Perry's voice is fantastic but the entire band really brings it together with some crescendo towards the end. Fantastic song, enjoyed the reaction. (Aside: You should invest in a Zippo lighter. LOL)
Back in the day, this song was the King of closing time! When the dance clubs would play this song, you'd usually hear someone broadcast on the PA "Last Call For Alcohol", while you were bumpin and grindin whomever you trying to go home with that night! lol
Steve Perry always sings with passion and power. ❤ Their pianist, Jonathan Cain wrote the song for his then wife. Steve did help write some of it too and get those feelings out there to everyone.
I love watching these reaction videos especially with this song I just sit here and wait for the looks on their faces and knowing when the big moments of the songs are coming it's awesome to watch their reactions I've got a lot of favorite singers but Steve Perry is The Voice
Love your honest and heart-felt reaction to my favorite band ever. I had the awesome privilege to see this very Frontiers Tour in 1983 in my hometown. I heard Steve Perry sing this very song live. A memory I will never forget. This song is a true masterpiece. Dive into the Journey rabbit hole. You will not be disappointed. Steve Perry started singing with Journey in 1977 with the album Infinity and up to 1996 when he recorded his last album Trial by Fire with these original band members. I love this band. Steve Perry’s favorite singer is Sam Cooke. Journey On.
You’re the first one that I’ve heard use the word “Passion” when describing the incomparable, Steve Perry, and the band journey! That is always the word I use for every single one of their songs! They were the most passionate musicians and band of all time! Thanks for such a great and fun reaction. I really really enjoyed it!❤
Faithfully is "ONE" of the Greatest Love Ballots ever wrote, played and song!!!!!! Will always be Ranked All Time Love Ballots ever composed and produced!!! Steve Perry and Journey All Time Greatest Band!!!!
It’s his voice and no vocal lessons. He was a drummer in high school and bands after that. Journey called him in 1977. Very unique voice and can hit the highest notes.
The reason why this song is sung with passion is because it was written by one the members of the group. He wrote this for his girlfriend who was having difficulty with him being on the road. He hoped that this song would help but she left him anyway. Check out the video again. You will see just about every line sung they show it. Steve Perry is sing but it was written by Johnthan who plays the piano and keyboard.
Song was written by both Steve Perry and Jonathan Cain. This is a group that definitely sounds better live. His voice will blow you away in the live concert footage shot in Houston of the song "Mother, Father". Great reaction.
Can't say I have a favorite song by Journey. I ♥️ them all. Open Arms is in my top 3 with wheel in the sky, why can't this night go on forever and Girl can't help it. They have a huge catalog of music. Not a bad song. Steve Perry's voice is the best there is. He also had a couple of solo careers
Steve Perry is a vocal beast Neal Schon is underrated as a guitarist started playing with Santana at 15 years old need to watch them live Houston 1981 Mother Father One of the few bands that was better live than studio no auto tune no canned music
Written by one of the members of Journey and sung by Steve Perry....aka....The Voice!! This video was part of Journey's documentary called 'Frontiers And Beyond' The documentary was about life on the road. Not only for Journey, but for the road crew as well. I am forever grateful to have seen Classic Journey for this tour. Journey played 3 sold out shows in 1983, in Houston, Tx. My best friend and I were 2 of the shows!!! Best nights EVER!!! I remember the part of the song, where it says .......'we all need the clowns to make us smile'. Steve added this ......'smile for me Houston!!' So in other words, this is what we heard ...... 'we all in the clowns to make us smile......smile for me Houston!!'
Journey is pure gold and Steve Perry is the greatest rock vocalist of all time. If you really want to hear a passionate song you gotta check out Journey's hit Who's Crying Now..
I have seen them in concert in the 80s with Steve Perry. It was unbeatable and then I saw them again for years ago in Rhode Island with. I think his name is Arnel??? But Steve Perry is the all-time best every wedding, every dance in middle school and high school
I seen journey twice in concert here in New Orleans with the leasing you just seen Steve Perry live outside and in indoor stadium and I was never disappoint he sounded just like that live
You would LOVE the 1981 Escape Tour Live on youtube. Steve Perry - also known as THE VOICE - hits notes and sings like no other lead singer. It is a full video of the tour and some of the songs that show his voice the best - are ones that weren't their most popular. Trust me, you'll go crazy hearing him and listening to the rest of the band too!
Yep, that’s what we did back in the day before cell phones, we use good ole lighters. Man!! Hearing this song brings back memories,. And I’m loving your reaction too. It’s fun watching the reactions of young people while listening to what a lot of us grew up to, so much fun, thanks for this video, made my day
Yeah, big man I grew up on this music. I went to two concerts here in New Orleans to see journey with Steve Perry when he was still the lead singer for them and I was never disappointed
Love this song Steve Perry was co-writer of most all of Journey's songs. This band is amazing, but you haven't even begun to love and appreciate the amazing vocals of Steve Perry. If you think he blew you away with this first song then your in for the journey of your life. He's a phenomenal singer and just when you think you've heard his best vocals, the next one will take you to another stratosphere. All of the live from Houston the Escape tour is amazing like "Mother/Father", "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'." "Still They Ride" from the 1983 live from Tokyo concert. "Why Can't This Night Go on Forever", "When You Love a Woman". "I'll Be Alright With Out You" Your subscribers will help you out with recommendations to an amazing play list. They don't have a bad song. Enjoy the ride!🔥🎤🎧🎶✨💖
The song was written by Jpurney's pianist and sung by one of the best vocalists of all time.-Steve Perry It's only Steve's voice- no auto-tune(it had not been developed and no prodiction needd. He often recorded his songs in only one take. Steve is natural conter-tenor and can sing as high as may ladies without flaw.
He is known as the voice of the 80s or just plainly the voice he has some of the best rang of anyone and he has just enough raspy ness and smoothness and he is a true talent because he sings this good live
@Alaskanair1 1 second ago You need to Watch the video when they were in concert. I believe it was in Japan. The Whole Band was giving their absolute All ..the power they all showed ..Steve gave even more than that. Watching’s Steve sing is so emotional.. you really do fall hopelessly in love with him every time you listen to him..

Agree. The best male voice I have ever heard
In my opinion, this is the most powerful love ballad of all time. Hands down.
My husband is an OTR truck driver. I can relate to this song.
He sang everything with that passion. Listen to any of their songs and he'll blow your mind!
A critic once called Steve Perry "shamelessly sentimental." Perry said, "I'll take it."
Greatest male voice in rock history
The keyboard player wrote this song while touring and the rest of the band really brought it to life. It's a masterpiece.
Fantastic reaction, young man!
Your reaction was EPIC!!! You are the first one to catch, what our generation was blessed with, seeing, hearing and feeling Steve's passion!! Please do more reactions to Journey and Steve Perry solo!!! I promise, you will not be disappointed!!
Steve Perry is one of the few artists that sounds even better in person! A legend.
Steve Perry is amazing. I never get tired of that song.
THE GOAT! HE WROTE IT!
No Jonathan Cain the keyboardist wrote this song not Steve Perry. Perry sang it
You nailed it from the start. When Perry sings not only do you hear it, you feel it!
Loved your reaction! As much passion as the song!
And that is why he earned the informal tag "the Voice."
The fact that Prince asked the permission of Journey before releasing Purple Rain says a lot....for those who have not noticed...listen to the guitar solo in both and his inspiration will be clear.
I love this reaction. Perfect. 💛
He wrote this about him & his girlfriend. We call him the VOICE.❤️
Having seen Journey live in the early 80's, I can say you'll feel totally spent after seeing and hearing Perry's voice. Its an emotional thing.
If I’m not mistaken, Steve Perry hit the highest active level of any male singer, and could hold it for the longest time back then anyways
Go down the rabbit hole with Steve Perry and Journey. Also Steve’s solo career. Late 70’s - 90’s.
Not just that rabbit hole can’t leave out survivor if you are on board with this sound
👍🏼

The build up he has before that FAITHFULLY IM STILL YOUUUURRRRSSSSSS gets me every-time
This is music at its finest, it’s about emotion and soul not numbers…..
Anything live with Journey is incredible. Check out Journey Live in Houston 1981. Not a bad song during the whole concert so you can't pick wrong.
In the beginning this is what you say to her, but you don't really know what it means until she is still there 20 years later.
Every song on the Journey Greatest Hits album is amazing!
