Yes there is. Steve Perry quit the band & the band wasn’t making money without him. They found a guy in the Phillipines who blew my mind. A lot of us had no idea that the new guy wasn’t Steve. His name is Aman, you can look it up…you’ll be amazed.
Steve Perry( one of the greatest technical voices in the history of music ) singing " Mother/ Father will absolutely blow your mind ( Live version ). I promise you !!✊🏾💯
Fun fact: People always assume that the lead singer Steve Perry wrote this song. Actually the keyboard player, Jonathan Cain, wrote this song about the challenges of being a married man on the road in a rock band.

Not like they used to. In Steve Perry's era they easily sold out an entire concert season in advance within hours. I still talk to younger fans who got hooked on Perry's Journey and they learn he's been solo for a lot of years now. Still has that PDC voice and he's 70 now.
This is early 80's (1983) ....... one of the greatest voices to ever sing. Steve Perry AKA "The Voice" . IMO the 80's had the best music ever...... Great reaction guys !
People seem to forget that bands like Journey, Van Halen, The Cars, Blondie, The B-52s…began releasing albums in the ‘70s and lump them into the decade of the ‘80s…I don’t.
Journey is still my favorite band to this day. I saw this very Frontiers Tour in 1983 in my hometown. They did 3 back2back sold out shows. They were massively popular back then. The song “Don’t Stop Believing” was inducted into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry just recently in 2022. This means that this song will be held there on the registry for 1000 years. This makes this awesome band and their music truly timeless. You really should react to Mother Father Live in Houston 1981. You will not be disappointed. Journey On.
Steve Perry has said that Sam Cooke was a huge influence on him. You definitely can hear it. JOURNEY: "Wheel In The Sky" "Patiently" "Winds Of March" "Sweet And Simple" "Where Were You" "Lovin' You Is Easy" "Walks Like A Lady" "Do You Recall" "Lights" "'Feeling That Way/ Anytime" "Stone In Love" "Edge Of The Blade" "After The Fall" "I'm Cryin''
Steve Perry (The Voice) is Portuguese, with Journey from '77-'87' & "95'-'98. He went back to full-time singing in 2018. The filipino singer didn't join Journey until 2008.
When I was a kid in the 80s, I thought it was hilarious that Journey made a song called “Oh, Sherry.” If they got married, she would be called Sherry Perry. LOL.
Every voice coach has studied his voice because of his register, tonality and range! You are born with your range you can’t learn no matter how many voice coaches you have you cannot learn a vocal range! Even classical vocal coaches are in a awe of his voice! His breathing techniques, and the muscles in his throat, not as larynx, his throat and his lung capacity you will never hear him gasp ever in any of his music. Amazing.🍷🇮🇹💋
This man was blessed with an incredible voice. And thru luck or chance the band "Journey" split up in 1998, but after a lengthy break, Steve got back into music again. In an interview he was quoted as saying "I rediscovered my love for music" He just released an album in 2018 including original songs he'd written over the years...and his voice is just as powerful and sounds just as good as it did before. This is one of my favorite song by them and one from the bands early years "Journey - Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' (Official Music Video - 1979)" Enjoyed you reaction fellas, thanks for sharing
Journey's music video for "Girl Can't Help It" is awesome because they recorded the track live for the video and it features Randy Jackson who played bass for the band on that tour,.
This song was called the greatest power ballad ever written and was a major influence for Prince's "Purple Rain". Some Journey background for you: Steve Perry was influenced mostly by Sam Cooke. He brought an R&B / Soul / Gospel sound to the band. Guitarist Neal Schon joined Santana at age 15 and was only 19 when Journey was formed. Journey has recorded hard rock, soft rock, pop rock, blues-rock, jazz fusion, latin-rock and psychedelic rock. They were the first band in history to: 1) Have a corporate sponsor (Budweiser) for a tour. 2) Use live-feed video screens in concert. 3) Use computerized lighting in concert. 4) Have a video game. 5) Create a side business that designed concert experiences for other artists (stage design, computerized lighting, video, props, etc.). 6) The first and only music artist to have a documentary filmed by NFL Films and narrated by the legendary John Facenda... "Don't Stop Believin'" is the most downloaded song from the 20th Century. They still hold sell-out records for several venues across the country from the early 1980s! Their Greatest Hits album (1988) has been on the Billboard Top 200 Album Charts longer than any other artist except Bob Marley's "Legend" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon".
If you want to see the greatest live performance of all time, check out Journey's "Mother, Father" live in Houston. The musicianship and Steve's voice will blow you away!!
Two guys....Freddie Mercury and Steve Perry that you can't mistake for ANYONE ELSE when you hear that voice. So unique and so awesome. Epic voice that still holds up today, easily
Fellas, Journey's got great hits that U guys have to react. Here's a big list of their songs. 1)Separate Ways (Worlds Apart); 2)Open Arms; 3)When You Love A Woman; 4)Anyu Way You Want It; 5)Who's Crying Now (My Favorite); 6)Send Her My Love; 7)Wheel In The Sky; 8)I'll Be Alright Without You; 9)Stone In Love; 10)Lovin Touchin Squeezin; 11)Lights; 12)Girl Can't Help It; 13)After All These Years; 14)Only The Young; 14)Why Can't This Night Last Forever; 15)Feeling The Way; 16)Just The Same Way; 17)Mother, Father; 18)Be Good To Yourself n many more to go. Now Fellas, Steve Perry the lead singer left the group to go solo n here r some great songs from Steve Perry. 1)Oh Sherrie; 2)Foolish Heart (My Favorite); 3)Missing You; 4)You Better Wait; 5)Strung Out; 6)She's Mine; 7)What Was; 8)Don't Fight It featuring Kenny Loggins; 9)Listen To Your Heart; 10)Captured By The Moment; 11)If You Need, Call Me. 12)You Should Be Happy. Those all the greats hits from Journey & Steve Perry.
This is probably my most favorite Journey song of all time. Listen to Separate Ways, Only the Young, Wheel In the Sky. And Steve Perry's solo song Oh, Sherrie.
FOR 40 years this song has seen play time on the AM/FM radio, Casey' Top 40, Television shows, Solid Gold, shopping malls, elevators, doctors clinic, dental clinics, Valentine's parties, birthday parties, wedding parties, at funerals, rock areans, stadiums, country fairs, sporting events, beaches, piers, boardwalks, lake resorts, amusement parks, airports, train stations, turntables, casettes, 8 track, walkman, boombox, grocery stores, mini marts, gas stations, train stations, bus stations, airports, the Grammys, class reunions, gyms, track meets, bowling alleys, arcades, bars, clubs, dance halls, casinos, promenades, cafes, pavilions, food court to name just a few. Such an iconic song!! And this is the first time you are hearing it?? One of their most unheralded songs IMO is Dixie Highway. The best version doesn't have a music video like this. It was only recorded live, on their Escape album. Absolutely amazing musicianship, great transitions, and of course-The Voice!
I went to Journey 1983 concert at the LA Forum. They were perfection!!!! You would like the intense vocal range in "Mother Father" from 1983 concert video.
Loved your reactions!! 👊 Corey, no Rocky for Journey that I know of anyway. The band Survivor had that covered with: Eye of the Tiger and another song Burning Heart. You guys should react to those. 👍 Steve Perry is a HUGE FAN of Motown music and Sam Cooke was a major influence for him! Great to hear all of you pick up on that aspect! ✌️
I always get goosebumps watching Steve hold that note. And when you asked, "Where are they?" as a South FL native, they looked like they were on a causeway near the Keys.
Journey started out as a 'jam fusion' back in the early 70's. Neal Schon (like the name Sean) formed Journey with Greg Rolie (like rally, keyboardist) and Ross Valory (bassist). They weren't going anywhere with their music. The record company told them that they are about to be cancelled, unless they find a lead singer!! Their manager found a demo tape he remembered he had. Listened to it again and had to find that singer!! Talked with him for a while and invited him to hang with the band in Denver, Co. Where this signer and Neal sat together and wrote a song called 'Patiently'. That singer was Steve Perry!! Neal at that time wasn't crazy about having a lead singer. However, in 1978, they recorded their first album together 'Infinitely'. They hit the radio waves!!! And their rock-n-roll careers took off!! After that they had alot of hits and the tours were getting alittle crazy. The video you just watched was from the 1983 documentary called 'Frontiers And Beyond'. It's a really good documentary, where it shows you life on the road for both band and their road crew. After years of touring and personal issues. Steve Perry needed to take a much-needed break. Where he walked away from the band. In 1984 Steve put out his very first solo album 'Street Talk' which featured the song 'Oh Sherrie' and his then girlfriend Sherrie in the video. And in 1986-87, where Steve walked away. He removed himself from all kinds of music. And then in 1994, he released his second solo album 'For The Love Of Strange Medicine", which featured 2 hits 'You Better Wait and Missin' You' In 1995 or so, Steve reached out to Journey about getting back together. The album is called 'Trial By Fire', which featured their only hit and the song was up for Journey's first Grammy award, 'When You Love A Woman'. Journey was getting ready for their world 'Reunion' tour. Steve was in the mist of getting himself ready as well. He went to Hawaii, as he was in the middle of hiking. He notice a sharp pain in his hip. He called the manager and told him, he was on his way home and was going to the doctor to see what was going on. Turns out that he needed some major hip surgery. However, Steve took his time looking around for other opinions. Which took away the time Journey would have been on the road. Sadly during that time, one of the members called Steve and pretty much told him to ..... 'get the surgery so we can get on the road or we're going on without you!' That right there Steve wasn't having it! He told the band to go on, and to change the name of the group. (that's a whole other story!!) After that Journey went out on the road with Steve. Journey has had many singers and finally ended with Arnel Pineda. During Steve's absence Journey has a 'Hollywood Star' and was inducted into the 'Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame" The next song you guys really should react to is 'Mother Father' from the 1981 Houston concert! It's a Masterpiece!!
I always find it amazing that so many "miss" the most obvious here (besides the voice of Steve Perry and the magic that was Journey)... To think where we would have been had Journey not penned the most beautiful song in Faithfully ... and inspired another young musical genious.... There is a reason why Prince contacted Journey to ask their permission before releasing Purple Rain....listen to the tone, the guitar...especially the solo....
I was just a kid but my older cousin was into Journey, and would listen to them all the time. I loved all thier songs, and been a fan since. Steve Perry's voice is ridiculous, man!!! Then. . . one day, the band broke up and Steve Perry went solo. Journey tried touring with other singers, even singers from other famous bands, but was never quite the same. Decades later, Journey would find Arnel Pineda (from the Philippines), who shockingly sounded like Steve Perry ("LIKE", but not exactly). There is a documentary I highly recommend watching, on how they found Arnel (on "UA-cam", of all places), called "One Man's Journey".
It's hard to picture this recorded in a studio. It is so big and loud. 80s rock and power ballads were made for stadiums and big spaces. I can't imagine this confined to a recording studio
As a white GenX girl you cannot overestimate the impact this song and others like it had on my formative years. I'm so glad you listened to this one. I never, ever, ever get tired of hearing it.
Rock n Soul 😂 I love it! Don't Stop Believing is so overplayed that I cannot listen to it anymore. You guys should check out "Who's Crying Now," "Send Her My Love" or " Stone In Love." ❤️
I saw this concert in Casper Wyoming. In fact the concert arena being shown is the Casper event center. The tunnels they drove through are just outside of Rock Springs Wyoming. It was a fabulous concert ❣️
The good old days when people actually sang! Miss the 80s
Damn right❤love it

And don't forget Foreigner's I Want Knoe What Love Is". Georgia Mass Choir made a Gospel version.
This was the biggest band in the world at one point, and they earned it.

Thanks for the heads up. We are new to Journey besides obvious hits

(that's a whole other story!!)
After that Journey went out on the road with Steve. Journey has had many singers and finally ended with Arnel Pineda.
During Steve's absence Journey has a 'Hollywood Star' and was inducted into the 'Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame"
The next song you guys really should react to is 'Mother Father' from the 1981 Houston concert! It's a Masterpiece!!
❤ this is got to be one of best ballet songs ever written!
One of the most legendary rock voices ever heard.
I saw them back in the late 80’s during their Raised on Radio Tour at the old Checkerdome in St. Louis!❤
Wowww, I'm a HUGE Prince AND journey fan, and I never noticed this! Even the whoooaaa ad lib crowd singalong part!!
I saw journey in 1986 boston garden!! Legends.
There is a documentary I highly recommend watching, on how they found Arnel (on "UA-cam", of all places),
called "One Man's Journey".
I saw this concert 4-4-1983 in a blinding snow storm in Denver Colorado at McNichol's arena!
It's hard to picture this recorded in a studio. It is so big and loud. 80s rock and power ballads were made for stadiums and big spaces. I can't imagine this confined to a recording studio
Journey when you love a woman...is great
Open arms they had many great songs and a video game
perry on lead; schon on guitar and smith on drums - 3 of the best ever at what they do.
AMEN
