It's heartbreaking. It's such a beautiful building with frescoes that need the attentions of artists, art historians and restorers. It's not just any old house where a troop of hod carrying monkeys can walk in and wreak havoc. Unfortunately, that's probably exactly what will happen. Another piece of European Heritage will be lost.

Ok I watched this a third time and have read some of the comments saying it will take a million dollars to fix it. I think it’s livable as is and with some elbow grease and paint it would be perfect. I have redone our home while living in it with a family. This place is just amazing WOW

@SuperDagod1 OH my, please don't change the front door. That would take away a good chunk of the history of this amazing home. IMHO every effort should be made to preserve and restore this place as close to it's former glory as possible. Scouring the local antique shops to find gems to put in this place. Wow what a dream come true if only I had the money.

A Yorkshireman lost for words. Now, that is a wondrous thought 😂. I'd buy this astonishing dwelling for my personal enjoyment. Every day would offer a surprise. Okay I'm back and completed the whole video. The chapel pushed me over the edge I am an extremely religious woman and always wanted my own chapel the frescoes the beautiful dining room the kitchen. I had to chuckle my dog and my cats would be lost... Living in this place you could go on an adventure every day. Let alone get exercise daily discover new things every moment period for my little feet to walk barefoot through this Palace would be a dream. I bet these walls do talk the feeling you get is so alive in every room. The wearing of the steps and the frescoes that whole Palace unbelievable heaven on Earth and the gardens I'm breathless.. I cried through most of the video the beauty is beyond belief. I wouldn't touch anything the history of the wine barrels and the bottles and the rooms every room has a story. I am truly overwhelmed. To live in all sections of this house would be like going on a vacation. Because of its enormous size I didn't have the feeling of being a haunted Palace I felt such a warm Happy feeling oh how I wish I was younger I am 74 years old now. Though I am in good shape I don't know for a second I keep saying to myself just do it so what to live out my life in such a place with gorgeous panoramic views unbelievable. Likely 35 artists would be able to showcase their work in ongoing video ads. My stunning home would be complete in one year. The artists could pay a lower or no rent in exchange for running classes in art, whilst the enrolled students pay a higher rate for rent. Several artists of different media forms could be there at the same time, presenting a range of classes and therefore having time to do their own work and exploring of the locality as well. ❤ 🌈 🌄 🎨

Yes, but who could afford to live there and stopping the decay that is obviously happening and maintain it as it deserves? Besides, that town looks like it needs a fresh infusion of cash. Developed the right way, could produce a jewel for the town and a lively new environment, without really changing its grandeur and stateliness.

    • @lisbondiaries9212
      @lisbondiaries9212 Місяць тому

@@rosemarienin9823 Disgree…an American, correct? That is an American mentality. AIrBNB’s have destroyed our housing here in Portugal. Continuous protests about housing have occurred, which finally changed the laws to limit any new AirBnbs and certainly not in the main cities of Lisbon and Porto. This thought that foreign money can infuse good things in the country is a form of neocolonialism. You want to invest in the country? Invest in the culture, the people and the economy… create jobs that don’t exploit workers but pay a living wage. The quick and brief infusion of cash doesn’t help local people, but it exploits them. That mentality is profiting those who do Airbnbs…not the local people.

So from my perspective, I think in addition to the $275,000 price, one would need to invest an additional $1.5 to 2 Million dollars into this "Palace". First thing, would be to remove every bit of furniture, boxes, crap thrown around, completely thrown out. then walls need to be painted. plumbing work needs to be re-routed to the bathrooms that need to be GUTTED and install glass walk-in showers. All bathrooms need to be gutted. the kitchen needs a MAJOR UPGRADE, with major new appliances . All fireplaces need to be converted to gas. Wood Floors need to be re-installed, the roof needs to be completely replaced, along with installing a new furnace

Wow David !!! An incredible property indeed .. and for the right person I really believe it could remain a family home (albeit a gigantic family home), but how amazing it would be. Like nothing I have seen before .. for that price .. and I’d definitely want to see how the new buyer puts “his or her” touches to this stunning property ♥️

My word! A mini version, please?! with similar interior court with its arches and REALLY elegant capitals, lovely original floors, stately doors...I could go on and on. This Noble House is not a dream, it's real! but sadly for me it is only a fantasy to live there.

Oh My God! The house is Stunning. If I had not purchased already. I would be combining everything I have to get this home. If I remember correctly. We were in front of this home when I was on the tour in January. I didnt know that It was so fabulous on the inside. Wow Wow Wow. That would be such a fun Home. The entertaining you could do. The Gardens. I would have it as a Home. I would respect it's past. Sad the furnishing are mostly leaving it. Wow Wow Wow. That is all I can say. Great Home Dave and Co.

If I were not in my seventies with difficulty taking stairs now, I would seriously consider snatching this place up to become my personal one woman Palace.
The decadence of being able to have a room dedicated to every conceivable purpose, starting with libraries & music rooms, to art studios, game rooms, dressing rooms, dens, formal reception rooms and guest suites, etc., not to mention (as you say they currently do) having seasonal beddroom suites, would be like living in a fairy tale come to life.
And I would leave that gorgeous garden, currently unspoiled by any unnecessary manicuring, just as it is.
This is definitely one of your most incredible tours and leaves me absolutely entranced.

    •  4 місяці тому

Well, Rocky, you'll need a lifetime to whip this heap into shape! A proper home, indeed. Now, the question is, how will you deal with the area's obvious riffraff pawing at the doors & windows day & night? You must have heard by now~ LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! I don't know about YOU, but I got a good look out that window and what I saw, most certainly, did not impress me one bit! As a matter of fact, I'm a little concerned for the old woman's safety in that place. From the looks of it, most, if not all the good stuff has already been absconded from the "palace."

In days long gone by..palaces/castles..had different accomodations for family and visitors... depending on the importance/rank/ or favor of the visitor the size of the rooms...the suites/apartments generally included a setting room and bedroom..only in the most luxurious was a privy/wc included...the small rooms/cells had only the bed areas and small area for the traveling chest of clothes...yes all traveling servants were housed with the estate's staff as they might find room to sleep..if not with an important personage...
Life in times of royalty was .. different...the hosting households were expected to absorb the costs of Royal or persons in high standing visits..even at the cost of the village they presided over...many took their beds and bedding with them on these jaunts so the host couldn't outfit the rooms some visitors would expect to use...this lead to many rooms being unused until etiquette demanded them to be opened...
This Palace no doubt has stories none of us will ever know...
