I'd say you both would (and are) fit in well living here. Your vlogs show that how genuine you are with a sense of humour and no BS. Hopefully, that is how the majority of Aussies have come across to you. Thank you for showing me another side to the country I love and live in. PS - Yep, most homes here will have fitted sheets 👍
And if that was your worst problem you must have been scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for a problem 🤣 You've probably figured out why so many people who visit Oz end up staying
@@annajanka1124 and more evenly for wear and tear as fitted bottom sheets wear out more quickly then unfitted that are swapped around more often. Where as most families have had fitted sheets for years 😜
The reason I have been dipping in to your vlogs is that you are not only a charming couple but in a vitriolic world your positive take on wherever you are is kind of uplifting and soothing.
It’s very common for hotels to use all flat sheets including to cover the comforter. Generally people use fitted sheets in their own homes. Ask one of your hotels why they use flat sheets!
Was going to the same thing. We use mattress covers/protectors, fitted sheets, flat sheets, and then what we call a doona is similar to what you would call a comforter, hotels can use cheap thin ones. I suspect this is all because Australia tends to be hot for tourists maybe so they don't use invest in nice ones? Not sure. But don't worry, that's a hotel thing! If you did an airbnb I'm sure you'd find that you had all the layers you want.
Everyone uses fitted sheets in their home in Oz. You are likely getting flat sheets in hotels, motels etc because of having to launder them constantly. The laundry is likely outsourced and try folding a fitted sheet neatly which would not look all that great in a hotel aesthetic and would take up much more space in terms of transportation etc..
I am in Thailand at the moment, and same thing, flat sheet on hotel bed. Don't get it. Definitely fitted sheets at home in Oz, but hotels and hospitals use flat
Fantastic Q&A guys, and welcome back. By circumnavigating Oz, you'll have done something 99.9% of Aussies haven't done. How epic. Great timing heading north as we head into winter and the Top End dry season. Enjoy.
Well said Matt about the 99.9%, I live in Cairns for about a year now and still haven't seen the Daintree rain Forrest which is about 2hours North from me,I guess we can be a lazy bunch sometimes
I am Australian and met my Peruvian girlfriend here, you guys remind me of our travels through the USA, South America and Asia. We have 2 kids now settled in Australia. I was in the army Norforce across the top end of Australia, you will find it remote and very different, including the terrain. Have your car well serviced with all synthetic fluids and be self sufficient. It want be the trip from Perth to Melbourne. It’s a different world. Alice Springs, Ayer’s Rock, Tennant Creek, maybe worth a look this time of year. Take your time and go on safari, but stay on sealed roads and find out and understand outback driving skills. Meet the real locals. Happy to support your guys.
Welcome back. By the way, that's the first actual KEY to a hotel room I have seen for many a year. Have a great time on your lap of australia... You seem to have left out TASSIE> You can't do that..... Tassie will knock your socks off. The roller bags were one of the first things I noticed, other than the key thing.
Quick tip re tummy upsets and food poisoning. Many years ago I read a report about pro and prebiotics and have eat prebiotics and take occasional proviotics which are a better probiotic. If you carry them with you and take occasionally you will be doing your biome a great favour. If you get tummy upset or food problems you only need to open 3 capsules into a small amount of water it will not mix but helps you keep it down and works like magic within half an hour then do same every 2 to 3 hrs and I can promise you , you will over come the stomach bug very very quickly. I have friends and family that travel and do this all the time and my hubby and I never travel without them. Kimchi and sauerkraut are all prebiotic and kefir is excellent drink that is prebiotic in most dairy sections of the supermarkets I know and buy the kefir from Aldi it's much better than yoghurt. We love watching your adventures and we are from south of Perth glad you enjoyed your WA trip. Stay well and safe guys.
Great Q&A. That's weird about the fitted sheets ...or lack of. I've never known that to be a thing (Aussie beds not having them). All mine over 40+ years have had them. Though I'm not a huge traveller / user of hotels (generally only 2-3 per year).
I think hotels prefer flat sheets cos they're easier to change, clean & store. I'm Australian and I've only ever used fitted sheets at home so they certainly are a thing over here.
I love the way Tia is always on the edge of a smile or a laugh... you're a great couple! Really enjoy your videos and hope you can make it up here to Queensland.
I really hope you take a day trip east of Melbourne to the Dandenong Ranges before you leave Melbourne. Clearly you guys love nature so it would be perfect for you guys to explore the area.
Your videos came up in my homepage before my first trip to Japan, when you guys were there. I admire you for not choosing the safe path in life but doing what you love and truly passionate about. You guys are lucky to have each other. Keep killing it!
Firstly, I didn't know you had wedding plans - even if 'down the track' - but you two come across as THE most compatible, single couple that I have come across, whether in videos or in real life. Your obvious love for each other comes across strongly and it is beautiful. Now, re 'Blueberry', I have a Mazda 3 too, though a somewhat older model than yours (2005), and it is the best car I've ever owned - and that despite my having to replace the engine a couple of years ago. It was going through oil at a rate of knots; it was a manufacturing fault. I haven't watched ALL your vids yet but I hope to get there eventually. I'm just amazed that you have the time to do it all, especially as you have a blog, too! Your budget figures have convinced me that I have no chance whatsoever of travelling around Oz; just the cost of fuel would kill any budget of mine in no time flat. Hopefully, you will reach the point where you've just done your last segment and it's time to call it quits; I wish you well for what follows that point. Best wishes for your second 'bite' of Australia!
I need to answer the sheet question and I am sorry if someone has already said this - in hotels and air bnbs it's typical for them to use a commercial laundry - they can't process fitted sheets and the doona (comforter) covers are also not economical to process - so they service all flat sheets - in a standard Aussie home fitted sheets are absolutely used 😊
Hi guys. Enjoying your vidoes. We do have fitted sheets here in Australia. My guess is that the places you stay at are being practical, as flat sheets can be used as bottom or top sheet. Fitted sheets only on the bottom, and when worn out would make the flat sheet then redundant. Enjoy the rest of your trip 🇦🇺
as someone who has done both trips, I strongly encourage you to take the inland road between Sydney and Brisbane, it's a much more pleasant drive with more to see and better scenery. The coastal highway bypasses all the towns, it's just a super busy multi lane highway. Inland you get spectacular scenery and a quiet highway that passes through lots of interesting little towns. Only thing you're really missing by not taking the coast is Byron and the Gold Coast really. Both are expensive and overrated - the Gold Coast in particular, if you aren't into strip clubs and the casino and expensive nightclubs there are far better beach spots elsewhere. In any case both could be done as a side trip from Brisbane
I agree. There's not a lot of value in going the coastal route once you get past Sydney as the highway doesn't actually put you in most of the coastal towns anyway. There are some beautiful spots to divert to if you have the time, but the inland route takes you directly to some pretty sweet little towns
Agree and would also suggest you rather than following the coast, you go from Melbourne to Sydney via the high country/snowy mountains, Cooma, Canberra, Batemans Bay and head north to Sydney. Much more interesting route and lots of interesting things to see and do.
Ummmm, what about Tasmania? We moved down here last March, after visiting the place back in 2012. We live in the North West of the state, and we absolutely love it here. You guys will be astounded with this little piece of paradise, so much to see and do. Please come on down, and spend at least 2 weeks here, as I do believe it will give you enough time to see all of what our new home has to offer. Cheers
Your honesty and sincerity are your greatest tips and gift! 18:50 100% The "she'll be right" is ok for those Unicorns and Angels people who have other people looking out for them, but that's why you love them. You have restored my faith in the average American, as I spent a lot of time in the 80's travelling over 26 states and was blown away with the generosity, but the political factions and divisions of the last decade have made me sad and worried for the future. United we stand, divided we fall... 🙃
The dynamic duo is back , fantastic Q&A session , i am just happy to feel your positive vibe enjoying your trips and seein both of you safe , happy and well
So glad you get off the beaten track. I love to see all. Capitals and rural. You can see so many pictures and vids on Capitals but your videos on - for example - the Nullabor - The Grampians, the Great Australian Bite etc have opened up this Aussie's eyes to my country.
Podcast recommendation while you’re in Australia - Hamish and Andy. Two very popular entertainers here that have a great podcast. Starting from ep one you will have many many hours to listen to!
I love that you're sticking to going to the places that's bringing your joy. I know most people search for the main cities, but it's the smaller ones that really make the trips. Thank you for going to the little cities and showing them! I'm definitely creating my route according some of yours!
Great to see you both back home! 😉😁 Really stoked to hear you are doing the whole coastline 😎 What a brilliant adventure!! Jealous AF! See you both in fantastic Freo at some stage👍 Keep safe guys! ✌️❤️
I love that you didn’t change your content to align more with what will generate more views. Although it was fun to see your take on our capital cities, I think showing smaller towns and more out of the way places was far more interesting. And let’s face it, there are plenty of videos on larger cities anyway. You guys show what else is out there, which can also teach us locals a thing or two about our own country!
Tia and Cheveyo, welcome back to Melbourne. The "BIG LAP" around Oz is going to amaze you. Travel Safe. If you continue to travel you MUST consider at some time to see New Zealand, both North and South.
@@OnePackWanderers we just completed a 15 day drive in April, Queenstown to Auckland, magic weather and visiting Whanau on the way. Needed another 10 days 🤙🤙but next time.
I am so jealous of your plan to drive around the country. Very very few Aussies ever do that. Technically, I did when I was a little kid, but not as an adult. I have trouble imagining my parents' commitment to do that in the 70s in a VW Kombi -- no airconditioning! You will see many amazing things, but miss out on the biggest thing! Somehow we need to get you to Uluru/Ayers Rock in the red centre. I was there a week ago, and it was awe-inspiring. Please please let us know if the videos how we can arrange that for you. Sadly, Blueberry will probably not cut it driving there. It is even more desolate than the Nullarbor.
Great to see you back in Aus. I have done two circumnavigations of Australia by motorbike - Canberra to Canberra. First in 2016 and went all the way to the tip of Cape York (which you won’t be able to do in Blueberry) ; and the second in 2022, sticking to asphalt all the way. The roads in the northwest of WA were quite recently very badly damaged by floods so you will need to get good local advice about road conditions when you get there. Happy to provide any tips/advice as may be required.
Great video, your honesty, randomness and just being so down to earth makes you very likeable and i think that, on top of your awesome video footage you are capturing, is what is bringing you so much success. Greetings from Perth :)
I think the fitted sheets is a hotel/motel timesaving cost saving thing because I've had them even in Perth WA (WA stands for wait awhile 🙃) since 1989 when I first migrated here... What I hate about hotel/motel sheets is the hospital tuck coz it gives me foot and leg cramps, and first thing I do is pull the corners out!
The fitted sheet thing is so very weird and that would annoyed me too. I can tell you now that 100% of most Aussie homes use fitted sheets. Its so random that the places you are staying don't. I can only assume there are reasons. LOL Maybe they don't like folding them 😂Flat ones would store better. Maybe the bottoms ones wore out? Yeah odd Hopefully someone can enlighten us... I think you need to show us the sheets on all the places you stay in now lol.
I was thinking the same thing. I've always had fitted sheets and have never seen a doona with just two sheets sewn together. That smacks of serious el-cheapo bedding to me.
I've stayed in a lot of Holiday rentals (mostly units) and caravan parks (cabins) where they don't supply sheets. In the units they'd supply the blankets and comforters and in the caravan parks nothing. We always took our own. I haven't stayed in enough motels to have noticed the bedding.
Your a wonderful couple to follow on your journeys, Tia is a beautiful spark. So glad your enjoying Australia and will enjoy following the rest of your videos. 👍🏼
Guys if you're going up north... Hit Cairns and the Daintree just north of Cairns.... That place is ancient and majestic and you won't regret it. The scenic railtrip from Cairns to Kuranda and the Sky rail cable car are some of the best things to see as well.
My wife, who works for Nature Parks, thinks you should have another go at seeing the Penguin Parade. She says there are ways to get good shots during the day, and you shouldn't miss the show, (which isn't a show, it's the little penguins' natural behaviour to flock in just after sunset, every night). She will message herself, but is now there at the parade, and was worried you'd leave and miss the opportunity. I'd also like to agree with comments about your charm and positivity, don't know why hotels don't have fitted sheets or doonas (as we say in Oz). I also agree about circumnavigating Australia. We started last year, but decided diesel was too expensive, so just traveled Phillip Island to Margaret River/Fremantle and back, following the coast. Looking forward to the final two thirds of your trip around the mainland. Have fun.
Tia!!!!! I live in Australia and I agree with your rant about the beds! That is in only in hotels and I complain about it everytime I’m in a hotel!!! So dumb and annoying!! 🥴🥴🥴
Being Winter you might miss some of the vibe that is more present in the warmer months in the small coastal towns, but at least you'll also miss the holiday crowds and get off-season pricing on camp spots. Also it'll be the dry season when you make it to the tropical north.
absoutely enjoy both of you, your enthusiam, funny encounters, and your adventures spirit. looking forward to that trip around the circle of Australia. Enjoy and be safe and look forward to the next vid. Always enjoy!!🙏
Wow roundtrip around Australia is quite the adventure! 🤩 And makes sense to switch to a rolling suitcase when your back is hurting. I guess it will be more difficult to tie to the back of your motorbike though 😆
They just need to "swipe" a couple of those luggage size metal test frames from the airport 🤣 (but seriously any welder could make one) and get someone to weld them into panniers for the bikes, combined with a stretchy strap problem solved. I've seen 10+ polystyrene fruit boxes stacked on a 50 cc bike held on with rope in Indonesia so if you get creative anything can be made to work, depends on the country and how strict the laws are.
Welcome back! Please tell me you’re going to take the coast road from Melbourne to Sydney. The south coast of NSW is spectacular- this is where my family are from and I know it very very well. Some highlights:- Merimbula Narooma Bega cheese factory Mogo Pebbly beach (Zillions of kangaroos!!) Berry Enjoy!
Dad is back! LOVE IT .... !😂🥰 You guys loved it on the bikes in Vietnam, glad to hear you all are back on the bikes again in Australia ... but on the opposite side of the road. Want to hear your father's perspective on this fact! Tia, please have your own bike ... you did great in Vietnam!
Because our agents are still hammering out the details of the contract, I cannot talk about the next guest appearance on WPW's channel (yet). But I can say that it's not Australia. Note: We have neither agents nor contracts. lol.
Fitted Sheets in rentals not being a thing, reason laundry. Fitted sheets drying and folding are time consuming compared to just sheets. The Comforter is just a light cover for a bed, again the reason in rentals is laundry. We have Duvas at home because you do not have to wash them consistently as you are the owner, also it is usual to have covers that you change with your fitted sheets.
Q&A very informative and honest 👍. Us locals all have an opinion on where to go next feel, for you on how to choose. It would take a month of Sundays to see everything. I am sure you will have a interesting experience no matter which way you go and we in turn will be happy to watch. Your family and friends pics were lovely. Enjoy yourselves T&C😜
So great that you are doing the full " lap ", so you will get to experience all our wonderful diversity....Sorry that we are so expensive...I guess our small population and enormous distances contribute to most of that....but I hope you feel it's worth it though ? You need to see Australia's High Country....so just head up the Hume Hwy from Melbourne....toward Canberra, you can't miss it...haha. I know you hate the cold, but it will be worth it...the scenery is amazing.
Hiya… the fitted sheet problem is only a problem in hotels or commercial accommodation. We all have fitted sheets in our homes. Why wouldn’t you. Lol. Don’t forget to get to an AFL match at the MCG while you’re in Melb, and take Blueberry to the Dandenong Ranges, and do the 1000 step walk. . Safe travels.
I'm so happy you said you would want to live in Perth as most people would say Sydney or Melbourne, we're usually the forgotten city 😭 hope you come back to Perth soon!
there's some medication (over the counter) you can get that may minimise or avoid food poisoning. That reminds me - I need to purchase this before I head to China. we have fitted sheets - i think it's some accommodation that's styled this way. We have flat sheet and fitted sheets.
Hi guys, I like the new rolling luggage that you got. The sheet thing is weird to me too. I'm in Thailand and they use a fitted sheet and a comforter, no flat sheet. I'm from the USA and used to having a flat, fitted sheet then a blanket or comforter. No biggie, just something different.
When you buy sheets in Australia, the come with a fitted sheet in the pack. You're just staying at a cheap hotel that saves costs by not having to keep track of a pair of sheets and instead has hundreds of the one kind of sheet. ;)
Wow what a great video nice to know what is happening around where next how u get along and of course the budget It's great yr fan base is increasing You need to know that older people watch yr adventures and it is as if we are there esp filming while driving but yr off road hard to get to places are a wonderment to me and I love it I esp loved u coming to Adelaide wat a buzz U guys are great to watch and I feel like I share every time Tia give Chevo a little kiss ❤ I'm a life time fan although a newbie and I've watch all yr back videos Keep up the fun and good work u do a fantastic job 🌻🌹🌻
At home most people use fitted sheets and what u call a comforter we call dooners. Hotels often don’t sue fitted sheets and also often don’t put the sooner in a cover just to save time for the cleaners to come in and change them
I know you've already been to Perth but north Western Australia is unlike anywhere else in Australia or even the world. The nature in areas like the Kimberley and the Pilbara are like a different planet and would highly recommend if you find yourself up there.
So i guess we can say you are a fremantle supporter. AFL Freo versus melbourne game today & freo won! Whoop Welcome back, looking forward to seeing the rest of your travels in oz. 😊 FNQ will be amazing .

Not realy, I've never had that problem, that one you showed us didn't even tuck into the end of the bed & that's not on. Good luck next time 😀
I suppose in hotels, the way it is, makes it easier to change the sheets regularly. More quicker. Than with fitted sheets.

I'm only a recent subscriber, but I'm so glad to hear that you're both fans of Josh and Chuck from SYSK.
Yay🎉 Oh wow you're dad will love it here I'm sure.
Great to see you both back home! 😉😁
Really stoked to hear you are doing the whole coastline 😎 What a brilliant adventure!! Jealous AF!
See you both in fantastic Freo at some stage👍
Keep safe guys!
I love your channel, you are a great couple - positive, cheerful and with a good sense of humor 😄
Tia and Cheveyo, welcome back to Melbourne. The "BIG LAP" around Oz is going to amaze you. Travel Safe. If you continue to travel you MUST consider at some time to see New Zealand, both North and South.
NZ is 100% near the top of our list. We're keen to visit in the summertime, though 😅
Yeah odd
Hopefully someone can enlighten us... I think you need to show us the sheets on all the places you stay in now lol.
I want to know why the pillow cases in the US don't have the extra flappy part to keep your pillow in :P
Maybe laundry services only use flat sheets?
I was thinking the same thing. I've always had fitted sheets and have never seen a doona with just two sheets sewn together. That smacks of serious el-cheapo bedding to me.
I've stayed in a lot of Holiday rentals (mostly units) and caravan parks (cabins) where they don't supply sheets. In the units they'd supply the blankets and comforters and in the caravan parks nothing. We always took our own. I haven't stayed in enough motels to have noticed the bedding.
My guess is more budget places would use fewer sheets and not fitted.
Your a wonderful couple to follow on your journeys, Tia is a beautiful spark. So glad your enjoying Australia and will enjoy following the rest of your videos. 👍🏼
Highly recommend Hamish & Andy’s podcast!
Handy helper for me for avoiding food poisoning - GSE drops (grapefruit seed extract), or oregano oil capsules.
Yeah we use fitted sheets, certainly at home. I suspect hotels might not coz they are more expensive? I'm not sure.
In Australia, when I was in Scouts, we all learned to do "hospital corners" on normal sheets but it's common to have fitted sheets these days.
Guys if you're going up north... Hit Cairns and the Daintree just north of Cairns.... That place is ancient and majestic and you won't regret it. The scenic railtrip from Cairns to Kuranda and the Sky rail cable car are some of the best things to see as well.
Love the suitcases and so glad Dad is joining you once again enjoy the rest of Aussie regards Dave Perth Australia
Sheets, sheets that are.. fitted! Holy moly that sounds like some kind of wizardry there.😂🤣
it would be an idea to go to CAirns and see the Greast Barrier reef.
Have fun.
Just watched this now, and I've watched every one of your vlogs in Australia, and must say I'm in awe of your pursuit of travel and happiness. ❤
Tia!!!!! I live in Australia and I agree with your rant about the beds! That is in only in hotels and I complain about it everytime I’m in a hotel!!! So dumb and annoying!! 🥴🥴🥴
Welcome back to Oz. Great to see your smiling faces again.
If you get to Sydney before the 17th of June you’ll be here for Vivid which is AWESOME!
We've been hearing so much about Vivid, can't wait to experience it 🙂
Wow fair play for the transparency on how much you're making from UA-cam!
I have had flat sheet instead of fitted sheet lots of times in the US too. It’s a hotel thing.
Thank you for being you.
Welcome back! Please tell me you’re going to take the coast road from Melbourne to Sydney. The south coast of NSW is spectacular- this is where my family are from and I know it very very well. Some highlights:-
Merimbula
Narooma
Bega cheese factory
Mogo
Pebbly beach (Zillions of kangaroos!!)
Berry
Enjoy!
We're convinced the only reason Perth isn't world-famous is its remoteness. It has the climate of Southern California with none of the drawbacks.
@@OnePackWanderers Shhh! Don't let everyone in on our secret. We like to keep it on the down-low here in WA 😉ps.Loving the vids, guys!
there's some medication (over the counter) you can get that may minimise or avoid food poisoning.
No biggie, just something different.
what do you meaaaaaannnnn. We have fitted sheets in Australia. Probably not in fancy hotels, but definitely in homes we use them.
If you ever move to Freo , I'll give you some Fremantle Dockers tickets 👍
Perth is the best place to start a family
& a beanie & scarf 👍⚓⚓⚓
When you buy sheets in Australia, the come with a fitted sheet in the pack. You're just staying at a cheap hotel that saves costs by not having to keep track of a pair of sheets and instead has hundreds of the one kind of sheet. ;)
wohooo your dad is back in birth country VN and now home country... started following you guys from VN
Good stuff - kudos to your amazing life - Ciao!
Mazda's are super reliable and more fun to drive than other reliable Japanese brands. Thats why they do so well in Australia.
What ever you two do, please drive from Walhalla to Marysville. World class forest, that you will never forget, through Yarra Ranges National Park.
Freo has a vibe all of its own cant explain it maybe because i worked there and spent so much time there everyday 🤷♀️
I think the next country you visit will be the land of the long white cloud, I am so glad you are going right around this great country of ours.
Your cute little niece is absolutely adorable! 😃♥️XO💋
Great to see you back in Australia how long are you in Melbourne . Try and go to Mount Dandeong about1 hour east of Melbourne.
So glad to have you back in Australia. Love the vlogs. Nice work from a very real and entertaining couple.
Welcome back! Can't wait to see your vids of the rest of your travels.
Definately take the coastal route!
Glad to see you're coming back to Perth! Hit me up when you're back for a meal and a tour!
Hotels often don’t sue fitted sheets and also often don’t put the sooner in a cover just to save time for the cleaners to come in and change them
I've never slept on a bed without a fitted sheet on the mattress and as well as a top sheet, then the other layers on top of that etc.
If you go to buy bedsheet set - they consist fitted and flat sheets then pillow cases That’s a basic and standard.
you should go to Tasmania for a couple of weeks. Its a bit cold atm. You won't be disappointed
I know you've already been to Perth but north Western Australia is unlike anywhere else in Australia or even the world. The nature in areas like the Kimberley and the Pilbara are like a different planet and would highly recommend if you find yourself up there.
Make sure you visit Far North Queensland it's paradise!
I can’t wait for you to see northern Western Australia.
So i guess we can say you are a fremantle supporter. AFL
Freo versus melbourne game today & freo won! Whoop
Welcome back, looking forward to seeing the rest of your travels in oz. 😊 FNQ will be amazing .
