#TommyBoyRecords #HipHop #GoldenEra #HipHop50
One of the illest one-hit wonders in Hip Hop history. A stone cold classic in the UK.
Yep
🎉I remember going all the way to Holborn London to buy this record! I clutched it with both hands all the way home. Owning this record was such a proud moment for me. To have a copy of this incredible literary and vocal hip hop masterpiece gives the same feeling as owning a huge lump of precious gold! ❤
Sounds as good as when i first heard it in 1989
“I’m on a roll and ready for combat….” that loop was sampled by the Lootpack for Laws Of Physics.
2020 and still sounds as explosively aggressive and funky as when I first heard it!
I wasn't there... But this hasn't aged.
It doesn't even sound "old" productionally.
That funk guitar is dangerous.
Face melter.
Old school hip-hop uptown dope on plastic music
Uptown is the same rapper who later made an appearance on Music Evolution by Buckshot Lefonque in 96/97
SL2 's dj take control got me here ... xl recordings
Kool and the gang give it up
I'm wondering if Tommy Boy put up the costs or something because nobody samples these drums now.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHEEEEEEEETTTT! I haven't heard this since I was like 13 or 14!! I'm 46 by the way! Thanks for post!
When trax had Real bass, and slick bars, spitting on point 4real
Wheater Experience by Prodigy is made after this song)))
And before is Kool and the Gang - Give it up 😉
Sheer intelligence I must manifest
Sounds like Lord Finesse!
HIP-HOP 🎶 🎤 👍
Rough beats....takes me back....

Old school
COLOMBIA PRESENTE
Y'all some snakes for not paying De La Soul.
"Tommy ain't my mothafucking boy, when you fake moves on a nigga you employ" -GZA
just was BAN FN NANAS WHEN THIS FIRST DROPPED. forever my jam. listen to that crunch. chills listening to this
Choon!
Tommy Boy can't do no wrong💚
Mark Gillan Tell that to GZA, Capone-N-Noreaga & De La Soul... (ALL screwed over by TB and they aren't the only ones I'm sure)
@@forcedtohaveahandle And Uptown from this track as well. They took all the publishing from this track and he (real name Raie Dacosta) understandably fell out with them. They then shelved him for the remainder of his deal and he was unable to record with any other label at that time when he was at his peak. One of the reasons he only had this one hit. Undoubtedly he would have had more but Tommy Boy stitched him up!
This is the SHIT!
👍💘 really Loves TommyBoySongs \\ Hip hop too👍💘
don’t go plastic
Go! Spastic

I remember buying this on 12", Tony's Records on Park S.t Bristol England, U.K 89!
Exact same place I got mine in '89 too. Used to get a lot of hip hop from Tony's, good time in hip hop.
@@leerog1 I miss them days. I'm 47 now, back then the scene was amazing. I think my mate brought our tickets to see KRS ONE at the Thekla from Tony's Records in 1988. London Rhyme Syndicate and She Rockers were on the same bill. Fantastic experience.
Would jump the train from Bath, I brought many imports from that shop.
My mates Dad at the time owned a sweet shop and he spent a fortune on records.
One day he said to Tony I want every 45 King record available, 900 Number e.t c and he duly obliged, I never forget that time!
I remember the Special K Cafe with the Graffiti afterwards where we went for cheese sandwiches and Lucozades and be in awe of our new imported vinyl!
My favourite purchase ever was , Tuff Crew album Danger zone.
I had that album on permanent rotate lol
I have new releases from uptown from latest album back in the line up hit me for exclusives
Still have my 12” of this. Kool and the Gang samples abound!!! Uptown had masterful flow on this, even pointing out the number of syllables versus beats right after the previous lines (9 13 9 the rhyme count)! Fire!
Cooollll
Yes yes yo!!👌👊👊👊✌😎
I'm on a roll, and ready for combat!
Djs take control / Weather experience
The Dirtchamber
This is 50 styles the unknown soldier Raie DaCosta. He was on the project buckshot lefonque with DJ Premier and rapped on songs like breakfast at Denny's and music evolution
Are those clicks and pops from artifacts of the MPC chopping? Or are they pops and clicks from the actual record he sampled?
it became a noise you wanted or added for a period
@@gratefulkm right, but im asking if anyone knows if they're (the clicks and pops) from the MPC or are they from the record that was sampled?
Vinyl solution brother@@dpalaoro
@@dpalaoro It's the record that was sampled. Kool and The Gang I think? Might have sounded a bit different on the original. UA-cam, and MPEG compression in general, doesn't do well with vinyl surface noise.
@@totallypixelatedua-cam.com/video/Ddku_z9p4HM/v-deo.htmlsi=-d8dGXvEv3QwJCHe The instrumental gives some more clues.
Still the shit!!!!!!!!!!!!
SL2 and The Prodigy!
Кто здесь после The Prodigy presents the Dirtchamber sessions?
What happened with this guy ?
I have latest releases from this artist hit me up for exclusive
(╹◡╹)
Fake MC Shan.
Giving me MC Shan vibes
“Heyo Dante”, if this was to ever made into a music video I like to imagine that Dante Alighieri is in it.
He’s referring to Dante Ross who was A&R for Tommy Boy records at the time.
@@Stevieboy74 nevertheless would be cool
