Kevin Conroy is the definitive Batman actor. I don't think anyone will ever top him. He and the animated series helped redefine the image of Batman for a whole generation, and continues to influence future generations even after it's ending and Kevin's unfortunate passing. Rest in peace.
The best "detective" stories were when he laid out a trap and 100 cops were surrounding the super villians in a poker table while Batman was disguised as Croc, he got himself out of a dream trance because dreams come from the "right side of the brain" but cannot read letters and none of the books had sentences, and escaping a Riddler trap inside a safe and later Riddler goes insane yelling at the Asylum "how did he escape, I NEED TO KNOW!"
10:24 I 100% agree with you when it comes to this. As someone who’s has through a personal tragedy in the past it made me find Batman inspiring and relatable. But some of the current continuity and even New 52 issues are so hard to relate to, due to the fact that I don’t understand a lot of the stuff he’s saying. What Bruce will say in certain comics can be so unnecessarily scientific and I’m just left there feeling like an idiot😭. It can make you feel attached to the character in those moments.
Batman TAS is the greatest superhero adaptation. It strikes a balance at being its own thing but a great take that honor and distills the best elements of Batman from every generation at that point and redefining elements that were largely ignored at that point too. All while providing arguably the best versions of these characters to this very day. Rest in peace Conroy.
Love the show. Grew up on it. Same with the Spider-Man cartoon. 99% of everything that came from this is FANTASTIC. What hurts it for me is the context of knowing Bruce Tim’s, Batam/Batgirl fixation. Which hurts the rewatches for me sometimes, especially when characters involved are on screen. But overall almost a perfect depiction.
The only thing about the Batman animated series as a whole(including new adventures) that I wish it could've never happened was the relationship between Bruce and Barbra. The entire series is phenomenal and still till this day top 3 greatest cartoons of all time for me, but seeing Bruce involved in a relationship with Barbra who was dating Dick and they still went along with it didn't sit well with me and was also weird cause he was sneaking around with not only his Son girlfriend but also Gordon daughter and they're suppose to be friends so.... yea
16:08 Okay, that actually is a common misconception. Drawing the episodes on black paper is actually something they stopped doing less than halfway through the show because the fumes from the black paper were toxic to the animators. They stopped using that pretty soon in development and there was practically no difference in the end product.

I never watched the series, but I watched some episodes of the New Adventures of Batman. But the infamous Batman/Batgirl comic thing left me with a bitter taste knowing it's connected to the series, so I couldn't get into the show, maybe one day XD (I did watch the JLU series fully).
I think that the trauma that Bruce experienced, led him to a personality disorder…but he is so mentally disciplined, he understands that he has a disorder…so Batman and Bruce Wayne can coexist simultaneously and work in tandem. I think that’s why in Batman Beyond, Bruce said he refers to himself as Batman…and he sympathizes himself with the villains because they have their own personality disorders but don’t have the gift of will to deal with it like he does. Just like regular people of Gotham don’t have the finances he was born with to help fix their own situations. Bruce/Batman is self aware and trying to help as best as he can in both personas.
My favourite episode in BTAS is Robin's Reckoning Part 1. My favourite episode in the entire DCAU however, that is more difficult to pin down. If I had to choose I would probably say Divided We Fall from Justice League Unlimited. The scene of Wally tapping into the Speed Force to defeat the amalgam Lex Luthor and Brainiac is my favourite scene in the DCAU.
I think for me one of the few major instances where BTAS didn't quite meet the mark was how It incorporated the Bat-Family. I definitely think it could have been done with more care. It wasn't until The New Batman Adventures that they started becoming more essential and even then it was too short lived. Other than that, probably the only negative I have to say is that the fight scenes BTAS were always very poorly choreographed and Batman never quite felt like a master martial artist. The fight choreography was one thing I always appreciated about The Batman 2004 series.
I love the dcau, I've been binge watching it lately, I finished Batman, superman and batman beyond. I am now watching Justice League. It was so good to discover this version of batman, especially after being exposed to the Nolan movies and Matt reeves batman, it became my favorite ! like you said, everything is so good about it. But, to be honest, my favorite dcau show is batman beyond, I love the cyberpunk world, the charcters and espescially the maturity of it ! Way more dark and violent than batman tas, I mean, they talk about drugs (way more than it predecessor), you have clear mentions of torture (like this episode with the young troublemaker center, I was litteraly shocked by this one), personnal vengeance (from the hero and others, like the ending of the episode with surgeon that give power boosts), and the movie "return of the joker" ! this movie is so good I maybe prefer it than "mask of phantasm". I would love if you talk about Beyond more than you did in the video about the next batman

Definitely, at least as equal to Arkham Batman to me. Arkham Batman and TAS are basically one and the same, Arkham is just darker and I guess up to date. Those two are my north-star when it comes to Batman, and I agree that The Batman is the closest.
Arkham and BTAS are sort of opposites to me. Bruce is angry and bitter by the end of the DCAU. He almost seems like a different person from BTAS to TNBA. In Beyond we see he’s all alone and the Bat family hates him. Arkham started off angry but by Arkham Knight we see he’s part of a family.
Batman: The Animated Series is a huge part of my past. It's where my interest in Batman started, and it's also my favorite Batman. I can't wait to get this whole series this Christmas. My second favorite version of Batman is Christian Bale from the Dark Knight Trilogy. Bale was able to balance the personalities of both Batman and Bruce Wyane. You knew he was Bruce Wayne and when he was Batman, you believed he was Batman.

Grayson barely enough time to shine imo. It’s not through ignorance tho as Timm said he doesn’t like Robin. Hot take: While BTAS alone is the best Batman show, voiced by the best Batman, I think the 2004 Batman is a better Batman than the one in the rest of the DCAU. BTAS wrote Batman as a broken man who tried to make the world better, and tried repairing himself in a way. He was able to smile and crack jokes while it counted, and you could hear the sorrow in the late Kevin Conroy's voice that fit that Batman. But as he continued to exist in the New Adventures, JLU, etc., his humanity declined, and the less soul he had. He became more stubborn when it came to opening to others, and had less and less emotion as he went on, to the point where the closest he sounded to having a soul was in Ace's final moments in Unlimited, and very few sarcastic moments. 2004 on the other hand was the reverse. He was very much a loner in the beginning, and when he finally felt ready to share who he was to someone, Ethan got kidnapped and turned into Clayface. But by the end of the show, he adopted Robin, trained Batgirl, and joined the Justice League, even recruiting Superman, who was the loner this time around. Being part of a new family helped Bruce regain his humanity, which is what I love about Batman. A broken man who manages to repair himself in a profession that no one would have expected to happen.

I grew up watching Batman TAS in the 90's, but The Batman show is more enjoyable and has more replay valuability. I liked how the episodes were continuous, the designs were edgy, the hero and the villains were powerful, the action was better, and the colours were more pleasurable to watch.
I can't remember who said it but someone said "if you can't imagine your batman comforting a child then you failed the character." Or something along those lines

His relationships with everyone are shaky and by Batman Beyond we see he’s all alone. No one wanted to stay with him. I prefer Arkham because of this. I think Bruce deserves to be happy.
