I have had the Fujifilm X-100T for a couple of weeks now. At first I found it awkward to hold even with the extra grip included in the box. I have now added the Kinokoo bracket (from Amazon) which makes the camera a delight to handle. I found this video excellent as it reminded me that there are a lot of features I haven’t explored yet and the photos and videos Kim has shown us are terrific. I enjoy Maarten's videos and now look forward to more from Kim! (Yes they have a similar way of speaking which is attractive to listen to and very clear!)
Hi Maarten and Kim, nice tutorial and well-done thanks. This video helped me understand the Fuji XT100 camera. I saw it a few days ago in a shop in Dubai and didn't have the time to learn about it. It looks like a vintage camera but delivers great images. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
did you find auto focus to single pt is slow compared to other mirrorless cameras? For quick street photography mostly in aperture mode, will it slow me down? thanks for the video.
Great video. Always wise to give camera some work, So that you can enjoy the vacation better. But I do have one question. In manual mode, shutter and apature can be assigned to 2 dials in the right. like wise where can ISO be assigned? Hope I am making sense..🤭
Hi Maarteen and Kim, thank you for the tutorial. Please help me decide on a camera. I want a camera that can give me a better image result than my Iphone 8. It will be for travelling and photography mostly. I am interested in Fuji XT100, but your review said that it is hard to focus on moving objects. I am a mother of a 2 year old toddler, and she's at her super active stage right now. Would you recommend the Fuji XT100, Lumix GX85, Canon m100 or Canon G7X m2? Or even any other camera that is suitable for my needs that costs around these cameras. Thank you.
It’s a pleasure to read your kind words. I’m not sure that any of those are much better than the X-T100 - that is the reality of cameras in that price range. For top of line focus features, either the Fujifilm X-T30 or the Sony A6400 would be better. They both identify faces so quickly it’s amazing - but although they are mid-range, that may be out of your budget.
There is no general "best". There might be one that specifically best for you, and what you need a camera to do, or what kinds of things you intend to photograph. All three could be good choices. If there isn't one that specifically have features you want, then let your wallet, your hand and your heart decide.
Hello mam I am not able to share some images of my xt100 camera to my smartphone with Fujifilm Camera Remote app.. When i connect the app with camera some images are shown in smartphone
you are both great communicators, I find this video extremely inspirational. Kim takes amazing photos. sometimes it's good to make composition and timing our only concern, and let the camera cover the technical part. thanks!!
Thanks, we appreciate the kind words. That is an excellent philosophy - however, you should be able to make the adjustments needed when the camera doesn't provide what you're looking for .
Just picked up an e-m10 mkIII and am torn between keeping this camera or going with the Fuji. Love taking photos but am a novice at best and have had issues with blurry photos and not locking into slow moving options. Would the Fuji's larger sensor help with image quality and focusing issues. Both will initially be with the kit lenses. Thanks!
It would help with image quality, to a certain extent, but not necessarily focus issues. While I can certainly recommend the Fujifilm camera, I could also recommend that you spend some time playing and taking photos to start to improve your skills with the camera.
Set the shutter to 1/60, and the aperture to F4, then finalize the exposure with the ISO. Use the film sim you prefer (I like classic chrome). If you feel the image is a little contrasty turn down the highlight and shadow to suit. If you are holding the camera at a constant distance use manual focus set to the that distance. If not, best use AFC and wide. Set a white balance appropriate for the scene. Hope this helps.
Finally a comprehensive review! Loving this review and actually I have the intention of buying XT100 but other reviews just barely convinced me. Mainly because they have problem with the autofocus especially when the subject is moving. Some friend trying to lure me into Sony A6000 and Olympus OMD EM10 Mark II or III constantly when I'm into Fujifilm cameras. May I have your advice on this? Is XT100 worth getting? XT20 is out of my budget range so I won't consider it as an alternative and I'm not into other brands.
Thanks for your kind words. Yes, the autofocus is slower than some, but much faster than any camera from even a few years ago. Unless you have high focus demands (sports, etc.) you won't be disappointed.
very informative & clear explaination ! thanks ! just a question about the kit lens : is it good lens for interior or architectural photography to begin with to avoid very expensive lenses in beginning ?
Thanks for the kind words. I don't know how you define good enough. To some people, a phone is good enough. I would suggest that for high quality architectural work you purchase a wide angle prime lens, many of them are affordable.
Very Good review...I’m new in the photography world i know nothing about cameras So I would need help from you. How would you set this camera for street photography thank you!
I recently bought this camera. It's my first Fujifilm . I had a certain expectation from the pictures taken on a Fujifilm camera. After my first few days with it i would say i am slightly disappointed. Sometimes i feel a phone camera would take as good a picture as this . .... Maybe i need time to figure out the perfect setting for the kind of picture i want to take.
You could buy a lens with a wider aperture - Fuji makes several excellent lenses for portraits. But you should be able to get a blurred background just by zooming in all the way and keeping your subject as close to the camera as possible while your background is as far away as possible.
This is the review I've been looking for! I just bought Xt100 last week and I've been wondering how the camera settings really work for a beginner like me. But would you be kind to help me about taking a video in XT100? I noticed that if it's on video mode, the brightness is low. What setting should I use for video? Is it manual? SP or I don't really know. Your response would really help me before I get to travel to Macau & Hongkong this June. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words, glad to hear you found my video. For video, I would primarily use manually setting, with the shutter at 1/60, and the aperture fairly wide (say F4-5.6). Then, to set the exposure, I would let AutoISO do the work if the lighting is changing, or set the ISO manually to the level needed to properly expose the image. That might sometimes be too bright outside, so close the aperture as needed, or use an ND filter. I hope this helps.
As with many things in Canada, it's probably salt. Apparently for most fast food products, there's more salt in the Canadian version. That sounds like a good explanation. Thanks for your kind wishes - same to you, and hoping for our health and happiness next year.

Hello, can someone help me? I just bought a x-t100 with a Fujifilm Fujinon XF35mmF2 R WR but i dont know why every time i want to take a picture it looks like it’s zoom in and honestly i do not like it, can someone tell me if it is just the camera or if I’m doing something wrong?
Not sure what you're seeing that feels like it's zoomed in - can you explain? Does the image change after you turn the camera on? Are the photos zoomed in or just the view? Are you using manual focus (the camera zooms in automatically when using manual focus). Or are you just reacting to the 35mm lens on a crop sensor providing a field of view equivalent to 50mm?
Maarten Heilbron yes, every time i turn the camera on to take a picture i have to step back a few steps because it automatically zooms in, do you know what I’m trying to say? Is like i want to take a picture of something and i have to step back a few steps in order to capture everything i wanted to take, to compare it to my phone , if i want to take a picture the image looks good( its not zoomed in) but if i want to take it with the camera from the same phone i took the pictures with my phone, i have to take a few steps back in order to capture the same picture as my phone,

how do you change the shutter speed in manual mode
the large main command dial on top in manual, the smaller up-facing sub-command dial on the back in S shutter priority
Could one change the exposure compensation by rotating the top right dial, all the while looking through the Electronic Viewfinder in the XT-100?
Yes, it can be used to change the EV and/or the shutter speed.
