Thank you for this. It's true, most build guides for every game (not just D2) focus on endgame. Which I personally don't care as much about. I don't like re-doing everything, but with bigger numbers, or infinite dungeons. Once I finish the story, I either go again with a new character/build or move on to another game.
for the barb, if you hate the degen from Malice you only need to pick 4 chipped skulls then use the cube to upgrade into 1 flawed then socket the 2 skulls into a 2 socket cap that you can buy from a vendor, this cap will now give you +5 life regen and will zero out the degen from Malice Runeword.
A long time ago, (v 1.09 was live) I decided to roll a strafe zon. I put 5 points into str to wear equipment, and put every single other point into dex. I maxed out valkyrie so I could occasionally survive a bad group. I don't know that I did a significant amount of damage over a properly built zon, but I did manage to progress pretty well with her.
With D2:R offering shared stash, equipping new characters is way easier now. This gave me the chance to compare a little, and i noticed that "Life replenishment" on items is better for stand-off character builds while "drain life" is better for melee ones. The distance fighters usually get less beaten up so time auto healing is sufficient, while the "vampirism" type leeching skill makes brawlers much more enduring.
@@Alzorath I did not get anything with "Life per kill" until now, bet yes, i would consider it another vampirism skill and a great advantage for melee characters as well.
@@kristopherleslie8343 not specifically - just use it! You can use it with any necromancer build - whether bone spear/spirit, poison nova, poison dagger, or straight summoning, it's always useful.
go with steel weapon made in a flail for fast attack speed and build into holy fire and synergies to it. Put only 4 points in zeal and start maxing out the holy fire aura. Around lvl 30 you switch to holy shock and its synergies and same points in zeal. This can carry you to early hell without any sweat. Then you can rock hammers. Or go hammers from ~lvl 24-30. Its up to you. The good thing about building a paladin as an auradin at the start is that you dont need a good weapon with high damage but only need attack speed and you have no mana issues at all. The only con i could think of is no life leech because of the low phys dmg.
i went for necro 100% summon … and besides the bossfights .. its a blast …after assembling my army i have to do nothing … but crush my enemies with my army .. xD … the bossfights can be tricky though …but with portalscrolls its easy .. but time consuming ..
It may come a bit late, but it may be helpful for others reading this: just use decrepify on bosses instead of amplify damage and they are just as easy. They can still take a while but your summons will survive.
@@Alzorath yes that's right, if you are a new player and don't know what you are doing you will never be able to beat duriel or Diablo with a Fishymancer
Early barbarians don't have to use a weapon mastery. Bash+double swing is good enough and offers flexibility in weapon choice. Especially when switching into Steel or a crushing blow weapon for boss kills. Later, when weapon choice is more apparent a respec can be used to skill into the correct mastery. Also, if damage output is really low - for whatever reasons - a triple Tal (or emerald) bow can take down bosses. Has the added advantage of killing from a distance.
@@Alzorath by just eye judgments alone . The damage ratio between bow to spells is like 1 :8 while bow to melee is 1 : 5 . I suggest the ratio between melee is 1 : 3 and between spells is 1 : 5 . It would be a good balance for a “ safe “ play style like the bow .

There is no name for it, as it's not a proper runeword, it's just an extremely common rune-combo that's effective (like the "Tir Helmet" is just a Tir Tir Helmet)
I made a stupid mistake about leaf runeword, In my understanding, I can use is as long as sorceress can equip it, I have two 2 slotted weapon, a clasped orb and a mace, I'm thinking of a higher base weapon damage is better, so I slotted it to my mace, and it became gemmed mace to my dismay, If I chose the orbs, is it considered as staves too? Or I need the Two handed staff to use it?
@@Alzorath I just recently got back to Diablo 2, the last time I played was 2013 but have no experience in using runewords because I only farm for magic items, I was using a summon necro hell difficulty in act 1 and I noticed I was overwhelmed by some bosses. It's intended for players who have hit roadblocks in normal, and are looking for easy methods to get past those roadblocks, there are videos planned before release for even more basic information, but I haven't had time to make them yet.
It was a fairly late addition, had several 95+ characters before it was introduced (I usually don't bother with going for 99, since it's only a minor bump in power for a LOT of work)
Fishymancer is decent, but not recommended for new players since for the vast majority of them - they will struggle and get frustrated at bosses - and that struggle is brought up about as much as the fishymancer itself in comments and messages.
Do you want to kill Diablo and Baal in Hell with minimal resistances, stupidly bad weapons, and just enough armor for people to think you’re playing a female character? Do you want to still park any to pack a decent amount of magic find during this? Then, my friend, you have come to the right place!!! Let me introduce you to the broken character that is the Druid!!! Just kidding.... it’s the Hammerdin. I’m talking about making a Hammerdin......
The only one I disagree with you is the Bone Necromancer, especially during reset, his clear speed to mana consumption ratio is one of the worst in the game. Even if you get +10 bone spear early on which is possible, you still not doing anything in a big party. His support counterpart with summons and curses will speed up the process for everyone involved. If you talking about single player, sure, but not in multiplayer, god no, one of the worst things you can do. Perhaps I misinterpreted your intent though, by new player I thought you meant new character, not noobs XD. Noobs should just play Trapsin XD, even if they suck they will be the best player until hell. But even if you are a new player, I think Bone build is going to be too confusing to you, knowing that you need 40 mana pots everytime you go back to town to do anything.
