  • Them nasty clunks? Wasn't the 3 shot motor mounts OR the strut tops - nope! Control Arm Bushing! More "fun" on the PTSD Cruiser.

I got my Pt Cruiser little over a year ago. I rebuilt the whole front suspension with all new parts. Even new struts with springs.

    Junk car whisperer here.
    Greetings.
I love this series, it serves to constantly remind me that I am blursed (blessed/cursed) with being responsible to wrench on my friends 2007 (?) zero miles PTSD cruiser.
And it was starting out to be such a beautiful morning…

I've seen vehicles that looked better in all those "lets see if this tractor that sat still for 12 years will start" videos.
Love the channel, you seem like a great teacher :)

Have a esoteric suggestion since I have one 1998 Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero diagnostic. First they use oddball diagnostics OBD1/2 with mut. Thirdly there seems to be Evo scan out that will do the deal. I have not see a good tutorial on these. And Many 4x4 are being import ed to the states now under the 25 year rule. I am fortunate the dealer is willing to touch the 4x4 still.

    Good job!
In college I found a cure for a few rattles and clunks was louder exhaust or a better stereo system 😎👍
Now I’m dealing with a Subaru Forester clunks and rattles, so I feel your pain 🫣

You're right...this is the same setup as the Neon. I don't have a press, so replacing the bushing alone might be a lot harder to do on my own. The complete control arm assembly is available, so I might go that route. Meanwhile, there is an obnoxious rattling coming from the right rear of the car and I think the culprit is the shock. It's leaking and not doing a very shocking job. Time to get the tools out.

Great job! I'm currently doing the A-Arms bushing on my 1991 Jaguar Sovereign (XJ6, XJ40 generation). A big job but hopefully the car will stop eating its front tires and be possible to align for real.

Hahaha I had a PT Cruiser and remember those death clunks. It wasn't cheap (and I was young and didn't know better) but the dealership sorted it out.

Great video and entertaining as well. We are working on the exact same thing. Did you sort out the clunks in the rear end of your PT? You'd be surprised how many shops cannot fix these cars right.

My car makes a click sound when i accelerate the first time, and then click when in reverse again. Balljoint is new , springs are new, tie rods new, bushings new on both fronts. The sound is from the left side. Could it be the Ping Bolt that holds the cv joint, or shaft in the hub??? That one is new also, the bolts has to be replaced upon removal, since it gets stretched...its so annoying. I did lubricate the outer left (driverside) cv joint and it didnt click for a while..then it came back. Same trick didnt help afterwards..

    Any tip would be appreciated.

Can you have someone shift back and forth from reverse to drive and back and you listen to see if it's a motor mount?

Hi there shop teacher guy, I notice from time to time that you use the word "wee" when referring to something small. You don't happen to have any Scottish blood in you by any chance. I enjoy your videos immensely, so keep em coming and for my part, I'll keep on watching.
