    The writers definitely want us to think it was Vernestra's light whip that gave Qimir that scar; especially since Qimir implies that he is way older than he looks (as is Vernestra).
    Of course, that does not mean Vernestra is secretly a Sith, in fact, she may have tried to kill Qimir (presumably her padawan) when she realized he turned to the dark side.
    Though, it could be a misdirect and the scar could actually be from some Sith lightning.
    In any case, The Acolyte is shaping up to be a much more interesting series than most people would like to openly admit.

    • @ichigen511
      @ichigen511 7 днів тому +5

      Great points. It's either the whip or a misdirect. We've had plenty examples of both in this series. Clues and misdirects.
      To your final point. I agree. I go into every Star Wars show hoping for the best and watch them glass half full. I halve been let down a couple of times but I am mostly enjoying the direction Disney has taken. Star Wars is a complicated franchise and everybody has an opinion of how it should be. I totally agree though, this show is probably being enjoyed by many a fan who openly pretend to hate it. A lot of UA-camrs can no longer enjoy Star Wars openly because they have monetized their hatred and if they actually openly enjoy something they will lose followers and more importantly, they will lose money. It's a sad reality.
      I'm 52 years old OG Star Wars fan 5 years old when Han shot Greedo first in 1977, the spring/summer before I entered kindergarten with an R2D2 dangling on a gold necklace I wore first day of school.
      My opinion of The Acolyte? This shit is fucking dope. It's mature and nasty and complicated. I fell like Leslye Headland took a PG-13 Star Wars show and told Rated-R Game of Thrones to "hold her beer".

      I’m not afraid to admit I am very interested to see where this show goes and what they reveal about Qimir, I find him intriguing in the same way how I found the portrayal of the Empire in Andor so fascinating… it’s like getting a glimpse of the dark side of the moon.

      @ichigen511 7 днів тому

      @@TheAsheron Nah. I grew up in the 70s. Have you ever watched The Good, The Bad and The Ugly spaghetti western by Sergio Leone starring Clint Eastwood? It's literally the slowest burn you might ever witness in a movie but when the shit hits the fan a couple hours in you witness something that only cinema is capable of expressing. Arguably the best movie of all time. It's a slog. Said nobody ever.
      The "nothing in between" is the way you build energy to get to the payoff. The payoff does NOT exist without a slow build.

    0:17 I don't think so. I've seen whipping scars that look almost nothing like one. Especially since if we're assuming it was the light whip, then it should like a mix between a burn scar and a whip scar. But it doesn't. Besides, unlike a rigid saber where you can control how far the blade cuts into someone, you don't have that control with a whip. Especially a laser whip that can cut through almost anything. Why wouldn't it just have sliced through his back? Unlike a normal whip, which would be somewhat cushioned by the skin it's hitting, the light whip would just cut right through it.

      You’re exactly right, unless of course the whip simply grazed the skin. Assuming Vernestra did attempt to kill Qimir after he turned to the dark, there is no way you miss a killing blow as simple as that with a lightsaber whip. I don’t think it was caused by a whip either

    • @ssj2gogetto268
      @ssj2gogetto268 4 дні тому

      @ppppppppp64 Yeah, even if it had just grazed him (which honestly would have taken a lot of effort and conteol given the nature of the weapon), it still doesn't look like a 3rd degree burn scar. It looks more like a cut. And given all the interviews I've seen with Lesley I have reason to believe he was literally stabbed in the back, along with metaphorically.

    Also don't you see in Ep2 Qimir called out Sol on using "memory wipe or whatever", in Ep5 Mae called out Osha on being "brainwashed by Jedi" and Ep6 ends with Sol looking like he's about to brainwash Mae? Didn't George Lucas said Star Wars is heavily inspired by Kurosawa's movies? Didn't Lesley Headland said The Acolyte is heavily inspired by Kurosawa's film Rashomon? Didn't Rian Johnson said The Last Jedi is inspired by Kurosawa's film Rashomon too? Don't you know what Rashomon effect is? It's only us audience understanding what really happened by learning points of views from various witnesses, each giving new puzzles and contradicting each other.
    The Last Jedi gave us Luke's first POV (that is entirely a lie and people still believe it's truth...), then Kylo's POV (truth but from his perspective) and then Luke's second POV (truth but from his perspective).
    In The Acolyte what we learned in Ep3 is a entirely lie made up by Sol. What we will learn in Ep7 is the truth but from Sol perspective and the truth but from Qimir perspective. It's our task to know what is real and what's not between Sol and Qimir POVs.
    Just to remind you, Kurosawa's Rashomon has 4 witnesses, so 4 half-truths. Star Wars makes it less complicated by one full lie and two half-truths. The fact that people still absorbs the first full lie like a full truth is laughable to me.

    Is Qmir's seacondary weapon really a shoto? It looks damn short, even for a shoto. I mean, it's all a matter of personal preference, it's not the way it's built but the way it's used that makes a shoto a shoto (that's why I don't understand people calling Yoda's lightsaber a shoto) so if Qmir says "Ok, I like my shoto ´to be very short but I'll use it as a shoto" then it's a shoto. Qimir was a Padawan, maybe a Knight even, that got too curious about the ways of the Force and the jedi cast him out, maybe he had a moment of rage, lust, envy, etc and fell shortly after, then Darth Tenebris found him and was trainning him to be his apprentice but was disappointed by something he did, maybe the incident on the lesbian witches planet, and punished him. My ideia is that he revealed himself to the jedi, putting in risk around 900 years of Rule of Two planning, so Tenebris learned of even taught the witches to create life from the force, a feat he to some degree performed later to create Darth Plagueis.
    In short, Qimir is trying to train an acolyte in order to prove himself to Tenebris, and then defeat and take his place as Dark Lord of the Sith, making his acolyte rise into an apprentice and keeping the Rule of Two cycle going.

    Meh. Subtle foreboding is not a thing for these writers... Set up and payoffs are so transparent it's almost painful. Yes, the scar is from Venerstra or whatever the name of that plank of wood is. What likely happened, she was his Jedi master, he turned dark, she thought she had killed him but "somehow" he has returned and went on to study the sith ways on his own - which means he might be a self-taught Sith, not one of the two hiding in the galaxy at the time (assuming the writers care about the lore in this case - we know they don't give an f otherwise)... He indicated he might be older than he looks so there's that too.

      Absolutely, there's no subtlety in the writign at all. I'm surprised they didn't say anything like "these scars... look like from a whip..."
      As for Venestra, I don't even think she's corrupt. She's probably doing what she thinks it's best to protect the order or whatever her noble cause that makes no sense will be. I think Jason will turn out to be self-taught in the sith way after being kicked out from the order and possibly left to die by Venestra. He has no sith master, he thinks he's the first sith in a thousand years and he's looking for a pupil.

    *Manny* *Jacinto* 🇵🇭
    Unpopular opinion and maybe I’m being biased because Manny Jacinto is Pinoy like me, but I think Manny comes off more MASCULINE than Hayden did in the Prequels and Adam in the Sequels.
    It’s very much like Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister. Manny can come off charismatic, brave, and still be sexy. Not of a lot of actors have “it” when it comes to being both manly and hot. Iron Man is my all-time favorite movie character but Robert Downey Jr. can come off sounding gay because he can talk so fast.
    Boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao 🥊, is only 5’5. My mom is taller than him. But Manny Jacinto is about 5’11, maybe 5’10. We’re actually similar in height and weight (157-160 lbs) but I don’t have the biceps and torso as Darth Biceps himself. Same fair skin though as if we can fool for a Chinese. Manny is only an inch shorter than Hayden and about 7 years younger.
    My biggest problem with Hayden is his voice. It sounds whiny. It sounded better in Ahsoka but I never got that ALPHA DOG in him like Manny has shown in this series. There are very few actors who come off truly alpha. Like The Rock can be alpha scary on camera and in real life. I heard Sean Connery was very alpha. Used to be a bodybuilder. Beat up a group of guys while Michael Caine held his coat.
    The Acolyte’s Episode 6 might be the first time we ever see a male character sexually seduce a female character. Anakin didn’t really seduce Padmé. He gave her stalker eyes in Attack of the Clones and cringey lines written by George Lucas like…..
    “From the moment I met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when I haven't thought of you. And now that I'm with you again... I'm in agony. The closer I get to you, the worse it gets. The thought of not being with you- I can't breath. I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me. My heart is beating... hoping that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me... what can I do?- I will do anything you ask". 🤮🤢
    Simp talk from a virgin boy. 😂
    “From my point of view, the Jedi are evil.”
    followed by…
    “Don’t make me destroy you.”
    Obviously, Hayden is portraying the better and more legendary character. The Jesus Christ of Star Wars. All Manny is portraying is online nicknamed Smilo Ren. But I’m only comparing the actors’ performances and manliness. I never found Hayden to come off all that masculine. It’s like Jackie Chan trying to be masculine. Nah. Jackie has a face mostly for comedy.
    Even though Manny is Filipino, he can play tough Asian gangsters like Triads and Yakuza if he wanted to. He has the muscles for them too. People call him Asian Ezra Miller but I think he can come off way more masculine than him. The polar opposite of his goofy FOB character in The Good Place. He’s acting like Asian Fez from That 70s Show in The Good Place. Manny can be masculine, vulnerable, sneaky, funny, sexy, and still be creepy and dark. Think the late Brandon Lee in The Crow (1994). I never saw that same range from Hayden.
    Finally, two male Asian actors 🇰🇷🇵🇭 carrying Star Wars considering the Japanese samurai influence George Lucas took from Kurosawa to create Star Wars. Lee Jung-jae is the first Asian actor to be a Jedi. The first choice for Obi-Wan happened to be Toshiro Mifune from the Kurosawa films. And he was asked to be under the Vader costume as well but declined. We finally have Asian guys carrying Star Wars when Asian culture helped influenced it.
    Star Wars implying sex or nudity doesn’t bother me. Didn’t Andor start off in a brothel in Morlana One? Didn’t Bix and Timm hook up one night? Didn’t Cassian have a vacation hookup after he succeeded with the heist? He was ready to take a shower with some hookup laying in bed. Andor was also the first to ever say “shit” in SW. I know Star Wars is catered for 12-year-olds as George said, but it’s NOT okay to imply nudity or sex but it’s okay to watch characters getting their heads chopped off? I don’t mind Star Wars exploring more adult territory.
    I think Manny Jacinto is going to be a Star Wars icon 20 years from now. The Acolyte is being hated now but the same negativity was being said about the Prequels about 20 years ago and now people call Hayden and Ray Park legends. Ray Park was barely in TPM and he’s already regarded a SW legend. Will happen for Manny Jacinto in 20 years. The power of one, the power of two, the power of Manny! 💪🏻
    Allen Xie should be proud of his Asian brothers carrying this show! Be proud to be Asian. We finally have Asian faces carrying Star Wars as our cultures are the root of what Star Wars would become.

      TLDR but Manny Jacinto is the only interesting character in this show right now, and one of the only two good actors. The other being the Korean fella. They both give it their all despite having a super weak script to work with.
