Great little submarine.I never built a summer ring before, but that looks pretty cool.Might have to try that keep up.The good work always enjoy to watch your videos. Can't wait for your next one
A submarine subject for the next project and why not..This looks a good kit with great detail, though a little warped..looking forward to your build of her Johnny..All the best🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
Hey Paul, that's right, why not!! I like to mix things up, keeps me from getting bored, and keeps you from thinking "another tank, oh joy", LOL. Hope to have this one done quickly, a nice little fast build really helps the mojo! Thanks for watching buddy, have a great week! Johnny
An interesting choice of kit, Johnny. You will have great fun getting untwisting those parts, especially given the small scale. I'm looking forward to seeing how you deal with it and looking forward to the build. Keep safe.
Fingers crossed Gerry! these parts are very small, I'll have to be careful with trying to get that warpage out, lol. Thanks for tuning in my friend, hope your weekend is a good one! Johnny
Hi Johnny, you definitely have a challenge on your hands here. Not sure if 'warpage' is a word? Possibly a hillbilly word😂. But there's alot of it to iron out. Those PE rails are really delicate too. Looking forward to this one, see you next week, stay safe my friend 😊
Hi Ian, we never run from a build, lol. Don't know if I can get everything straightened out but we'll give it a try! Take care and have a great week my friend! Johnny
Great start I cant wait for you to begin! Do you have a video on your completed kits in a display case? im sure they would be cool to view ! Have a great weekend brother ✌Canada✌
Not yet! I just use shelving, no display case yet, but I would like to get one James. Last year I started doing an end of year video on builds completed and I'll keep that going. Have a great weekend my friend! Johnny
In the end you will get me interested in U-boats hahaha! Kit looks good, but lot's of warped parts, i am sure that you will figure something out for sure bud. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend!
Looking forward to seeing what you do with this kit. I have a question for you, do you wash all the sprues before a build? As always , I enjoy your channel and look forward to watching it every Friday morning. Thanks Johnny
Hi Sal, yes, I wash my sprues on every kit I build. I know there are some modelers out there that say you don't need to on modern kits, but they are mistaken. Even the kit manufacturers tell us to wash them to remove residual release compound, so it's always a good ideal. Thanks for tuning in my friend, have a great weekend!! Johnny
This should be a fairly quick build. I guess, the only tricky part will be the PE, it looks kinda frail! I am most interested in how you gonna paint and weather it. I have only built one sub in my career, and if I recall correctly, it was the "U-47 Günther Prien", which was a side cut-away with full interior and some figures. Ahh, fond memories of the late '70s 🙂Have fun modeling, Johnny!
Fingers crossed Mike! This is a really small kit, sort of a warm up for future plans, lol. I hope it is a quick build, I like it when things move along. Thanks for watching buddy! Johnny
My favorite thing about Friday's, a new Hillbilly Modeling video and the start of a new modeling project. I am curious, what's your decision process for choosing your modeling projects? I look forward to seeing how you tackle this AFV Club Gato. I tried to build their German Type VII U-Boat and it did not end well. I really like the variety of subjects.
Process? LOL! I'm an armor modeler at heart but that would be boring for me if that's all I did in every build. So, I like to through in aircraft and watercraft to help me keep my sanity, sort of, 😁 I'm not real sure about this kit though, we do have some warped parts to try to fix, but we'll do the best we can and maybe learn something in the attempt. Thanks for watching my friend, enjoy your weekend! Johnny
Hi Johnny, now what are you thinking? This does not have track or a turret, but whag the hell, you are the one making the decision, happy sub building, best regards from Australia, Les
Hey Les, I like to change things up, all armor all the time would get a little dull for me, so variety is a good thing! Thanks for watching, have a great weekend buddy. Johnny
Thanks for another instalment of Hillbilly Modeling, Johnny😀👍 Enjoy your weekend 😀
Thanks, you too Vincent! Take care my friend!! Johnny
A Sub! Wasn't expecting that! Should be an interesting build 👍
I like to mix up my subjects, keeps me from settling into a rut, 😎 Thanks for watching!! Johnny

Thanks Raymond, it's a small kit but I think I can manage it, should be fun. Take care and have a great weekend my friend. Johnny

Wow! That's gonna look great, Johnny! Can't wait to see more! Waaaaay too small for my shaky hands though! Too much caffeine and alcohol in my past! 🤣
A few warped parts to take care of, should be a quick build though. Thanks for watching buddy, take care and have a great weekend. Johnny

Hey George, yes, the worst thing about this kit is the warped parts, everything else is fine with it. Thanks for looking in my friend! Johnny

Have fun with the Gato class sub. Submerging the parts in hot water and gently twisting it back into shape should fix the bowed pieces.
I'm going to give that a try David, hopefully we can get the warp out of them. Thanks for giving it a look buddy! Take care and model on. Johnny
