    I found the SJ9 Max for $75... They also have the 4000x for 120$ They are waterproof without a case and they don't require a mic adapter. It will only work with the proprietary SJ Cam mic I got a $10 pop voice Mic from Amazon that works identical to the purple panda splice the two together because they have the same internal wiring with some slight tweaking to the end camera settings that took about 5 minutes it shoots beautifully at 4K 30 frames per second it also shoots 2K 60 frames per second it's almost cinematic. I used the mounts that came in the box with it I got zero complaints... I've shot some stuff for a motorcycle ministry that I'm cool with whose main video guy is a video snob and he loves it. Total cost was $100... I like the camera so much I bought another one on clearance for 50 bucks for backup... Oh yeah I got some ND filters for 35 bucks that put on the finishing touches...

    I solved the issue of rain water while using the microphone adapter. I packed the area with swimmers wax. This is the stuff my daughters used when they swam competitively to keep water out of their ears. Works great.

      I will say it takes up a lot of time sometimes. When I take a break from the internet for a couple hours, then come back to check the comments, it will take a few more hours to get back to everyone. So I try my best to “heart” or “like” as many as I can do you guys know I really do read them! Then I focus on answering the ones that warrant a response if I am able! I appreciate all the comments and feedback!

    Hi! My girlfriend and I enjoy your channel. She just started riding a motorcycle a few months ago. Just a tip, on your plug in Microphone, try the small rubber O rings. They come in different sizes you get them at an auto parts store. slip it on the plug, plug in and it in should seal it for water. Just a thought.

    Another helpful video for those wanting to get into motovlogging.
    Here's a couple tips I've come up with my trial and errors trying to get a good quality audio/visual set up.
    #1- Since I've had a habit of getting caught in the rain even with a 0% chance, I didn't want to lose the waterproof of the Gopro. Solution I have is to use a SENA 10C EVO for the audio and sync with the gopros in post. The sena does do video as well but...it doesn't have the stabilization like gopro. So you have keep your head as still as possible.
    #2- Mount your Gopro to your helmet so that the top edge is just a little above the top edge of the helmets chin guard. With it in that position you can clearly see that the red recording light is on. Nothing worse than doing a vlog only to find out your camera was not on and recording.

    • @HerTwoWheels
      @HerTwoWheels  4 роки тому +1

      The fact that the 10C can actually record the audio for you is perfect! but yeah, the regular sena's can't record audio separately. otherwise that would be the ideal solve!

      @@HerTwoWheels the good part with the Sena 10c is it's your communication device as well. You can record the communication with other riders while vlogging

    I use a Ulanzi camera cage for my Hero-8 @t, as it incorporates a mic adapter bay to keep it all compact. I use the same mic ($10 on Amazon. Just search for gaming mic. Make sure the 3.5mm plug has ONLY 2 lines!), but use the "A Girl And Her Bike" helmet mount @t , that sets the camera a little lower, with fewer pieces. Cost of these parts, is really affordable for just about anyone. Oh! I also use a Radio Shack 90deg 3.5mm adapter so I don't have to bend the mic boom out of the camera, which gives me about 1 1/4 extra inches to reach into my helmet. I secured the mic inside, with a little adhesive plastic snap hook, of the type used to hang tiny LED light strings around the wall or ceiling. Works perfectly, and will cleanly pull off if I ever change my set-up.
    Oh, nice tip, is to use Allen bolts, instead of the big plastic handled screws, to secure the arm joints. I think they are 5-23 metric, from any decent hardware store. Mine are black oxide, to look better than shiny silver.
    I mounted a USB outlet long ago, to power my phone while it's in the RAM mount. I figured out, I could use a long USB to C-type cable from the outlet, under my jacket, and back out to the Go-Pro Mic adapter, for forever power to the camera. Not only runs the system, but charges the camera battery at the same time! If you are used to being wired up for winter riding in heated gear, this won't bother you at all.

  • @rob8379
    @rob8379 4 роки тому

    I like the setup hints. Why do you use two 3M tapes? I would recommend cleaning the area that you're going to put tape on with rubbing alcohol. It helps adhere it better.

    • @HerTwoWheels
      @HerTwoWheels  4 роки тому

      The gopro itself, arm and mic adapter can get pretty heavy for just one piece of tape. I've discovered that doubling up created a vibration barrier between the two and keeps them bonded together and to the helmet better!

      I have a "chinmounts" brand chin mount (the one for the Bell Qualifier, but close enough for my Schuberth S2 with a glob of Sugru to mount it) - they are kind of pricey and look like they were just 3d printed out. And, I am not sure about safety of it after I Sugru'd that on - it is on there REALLY solid, and might not break off as easily as it should in an accident. :o I think the arm HerTwoWheels mentions looks pretty safe...should break up/away in an accident. Maybe I should have gone that route. hmm

    I use sugru instead of the 3m. I've found on 90+ degree days in the summer, the 3m weakens and I've almost lost the camera twice. I have it tethered to the helmet strap so it never fell off, just dangled there like a limp... errr.
    The mic on my action cam seems crackly though, and not sure of it's the mic or the camera. But since I don't vlog, essentially use the camera as a dash cam and the voice is for when I come up with brilliant ideas for my online stores. But when it's crackling like it sometimes does, I'm left trying to guess what brilliant idea I was talking about at the time.

    Great walk through. Only thing I would suggest is cleaning all surfaces to be glued with alcohol. Especially if your helmet isn't new and could have God knowns what on it lol. Those 3m pads work well but it's always a good idea to prevent any possible issues.

    I wonder if it's better to use a separate voice recorder for audio? That way you can leave the GoPro housing in tact and waterproof.

      Probably. I have not been able to find a good quality Bluetooth lav mic. And it just adds more wires from your body to your helmet. This setup allows your helmet to be a completely separate element you can remove it without being connected to anything else.

      @@HerTwoWheels the mic from the headset is an absolutely brilliant idea. I wish GoPro would integrate bluetooth into their cameras. That way any wireless bluetooth mic would work. Eliminating the need for an adapter and keeping the GoPro waterproof.

    Do you advise this set up with a modular helmet where the front lifts up?
