Today, we are going to make Lentils the Moroccan way with onion and tomato sauce flavored with cumin. This is a very popular dish in Morocco, especially during winter time, and can be served as an appetizer or main dish. Either way, this is one simple dish to warm you up in the cold!
    * If you'd like to watch a Dada (traditional Moroccan cook) make this dish, check out this video: flavorsofmorocco.teachable.co...

Actually there are different ways of cooking lentils in Morocco. This recipe is a basic one. We cook it with potatoes, or with some pieces of meat, or with dried meat (called algaddid), or with Alkhli3 (cooked dried meat which can be kept for long time in jars)and pumpkin. All of them are delicious and very tasty.

We eat this dish a lot in Spain too during the winter. Almost every single child hates it and then you grow up and somehow you love it!

But in Spain traditional lentil stew is made with carrots too and spiced with bay and smoked paprika.

of course it's different I hadn't said otherwise ;) As paella is cooked differently depending on what region you live in Spain, but the name is still paella.
