SD remix pichu up air is probably my favorite but obviously thats diferent. I wish we could play SD characters in bracket. My SD Mario and Game and Watch go hard. I would also love the stage expansion stages. Maybe I should start my own local using these.
adust you are really good at drawing wacky analogies that make a lot of sense, like the gambling one and this swiss army knife one. truly the avant-garde content i subscribed for. bless.
I have an interesting topic you can talk about, ganon neutral air and how it compares to falcons in their respective kits. Falcon gets to cover a ridiculous amount of space with it since it’s very active and he has a lot of drift. In ganons kit, despite it being his fastest aerial, since he has little drift and for some reason the gave it 2 active frames for each hit, makes it way more niche. However, this allows ganon to use the first hit box of nair as a combo extender in his kit to keep punishes going, since upair tends to send opponents to far away to keep a combo going
Lmao before I even got to that part I was going to say a testament to this loves versatility was that every falco player has taken a stock with down air alone.
how on earth can you struggle to play a character that just has to throw out lasers and down airs. i dont even play him but i have a decent falco through osmosis, because there are hordes of the exact same NPC falco on melee netplay.
Meanwhile, Fox's shine is so versatile it can do practically everything than most low-tiers. It's extremely non-committal, can start combos (and even combo into itself with waveshine infinites), can apply a ton of shield pressure and can edgeguard very well. (It's even decent as a recovery mix-up.)
It’s also a defensive tool. Good oos option, can get you out of tumble quickly and safely so air dodge becomes an option again, can use it immediately after a spot dodge or wake up. Oh and it can kinda reflect shit. Crazy I know. Not particularly useful though unless you’re fighting Samus or Peach pulls a stitchy or dot eyes.
ever since i started playing 2 years ago, i ALWAYS genuinely said "Falco dair does literally everything for him" glad to see im not completely coping, as a Falcon player, fuck this move lol
I have been saying this for years. Falco Dair is the best aerial. Falco laser is the best projectile. Marth fair is also good but falco dair is just better. Glad to know someone made a video about it.
Exactly. It starts, extends and ends combos. It can be used to escape combos. It spikes. It’s safe on shield. It has an invincibility frame. And it’s frame freaking 1. Def the best move in the game
Falco's dair is just so much easier to use. Try playing Falco and just spam dair, you'd be surprised how well it can work. Shine is definitely cheap but it takes more thought than just spamming it.
@@YoyMcFroy while that is true, we aren't talking about the best move to use that's easy, just the best move period. In which case, fox or falco's shines are both decent options for best move.
Is Fox drill on shield really that easy to make safe? If a grab comes out frame 7 then it's a one frame window at -6 on shield right? And if drill is staled then it's a straight up -7 on shield
Good question and something I should have specified, fox drill can be difficult to make frame positive in shield for the reasons u mentioned, but mid or even high drill can still be safe on shield due to its multi hit nature, whereas a high or mid dair from falco will always be unsafe. Should have been more specific in my phrasing
fox shine: Combo starter, combo extender, edgeguards, combo breaker, shield pressures, frame 1 get-off-me-shield tool, used in recovery mixups. Fox shine is more versatile but i agree falco's dair is up there
dk upb may be the true #1 for versatility, especially being that its a recovery- but it is generally easier to punish. I think pika uair has a decent argument too- then the more I think, it really may be as simple as fox shine.
I think all of those have a strong argument, pika uair especially as an amazing OOS option as well as combo tool and insane edge guard option, but up air and even fox shine all get blown up by CC which is my huge sticking point considering how powerful it is in the modern meta. But I could see the argument for shine, up air and even DK up b, and ty for watching!
Banger video, great work. Falco is a fascinating character considering how many years he spent as "Fox but with lasers that stun", feels like in the last few years people have realized he's actually sick in a lot of unique ways. Especially the dair combos lol.
Great vid! So glad it got randomly recommend to me. I've only played Melee once for a few hours, but I enjoy learning all the random info about this game. Keep milking this over 20 year old gem!! lol
I feel like, especially with Dair, they just put melee Falco in Ultimate and let him use up b after side b to recover to make up for a lack of wavedashing and multishine (Fox got this too) Not Wolf tho Hah
@@danielbojkovski723Fox’s obviously. Also rest is a broken move but it’s not a versatile move. For Jiggs I’d say for versatility back air would be my pick
I played an unrank game and there was a falco who just spammed Dair and Fsmash,When I gave him a homie stock he started spaming taunt and T- bagging. I think the worst thing about the hordes of falco players is not only how special they think they are, but how they think their character is the most honest thing in melee.
Fox has shine, drill, up air, up smash, one of the best recovery in the game (with multiple angles on up, and mixup on side b) and he is the second fastest character. No losing matchup.
@@tkienjoyermaybe he's not the absolute number one most fragile but it feels so much more intense because of the contrast his offense has. Too 3 character in the game until you grab him and he dies at 40 off a DI mixup
switch army knife? that's a new one
LOL just realized this typo, proof I’ll read anything off the proverbial teleprompter, good catch and ty for watching
Bone apple tea, my brothers.
Malapropism is the apparent term for this. :)
It’s pride, it works, and im unironcially going to start saying this lmao
such cases are diamond dozen in this doggy dog world
The Switch Army Knife is pretty good, but the more you use it to whittle, the more it drifts
If Fox had Falco dair we would've abandoned this game by 2005 🤣
Have you seen that one vid where the guy mods falco dair and laser onto fox, its gross

Falco shine shares many of these properties.
What a coincidence im looking for what to do against that with Samus.
6:20 if you full hop nair it's actually much harder to punish because she double jump out faster than you'd think. Maybe do a waveland to top plat idk
