I know I'm late to the discussion but I'd like to contribute. 25 years is a long time; memories fade; there are always 2 sides to every story; lines get blurred. During a traumatic time like a divorce, things are said and done, things are construed, and things are seen from different perspectives. Because the stories on both sides may be drastically different doesn't mean anyone is "lying" - they may truly remember things in different ways. Sometimes, things that are said and done may affect people differently and have greater impacts than in someone else ultimately skewing memories/truths. Give yourself time and space - and remember no one is perfect - but we all (usually) try to do the best we can. ❤

Ok so being a only child also was raised by my mom I understand how you feel. The only difference for me is that I am still to this day trying to find out who my biological father is because my mom lied to me. So, the lies is real, but I was never worried about what happened in her past and whatever mistakes she made I just wanted to know the truth. Due to her not being honest even on her death bed I now dispise her. Ok you are still young, you and your mom have always had a wonderful relationship, and your biological father is sketchy. Me looking from outside in I would have to say your mom probably is being 85% on telling it the 15% is she was hurt and embarrassed. Now your biological father man that guy seems like he has had a lot of issues and the alcohol was one in his past and you werent the only kid to suffer from it. Now it's up to you to start from the day you and your Bae met him and see if he is loyal. I still feel like your biological father has stuff going on he isn't telling so just tread lightly and don't go in full fledge so you won't get let don't again. And as a mom myself now I can also tell you that your mom didn't divulge all that you are finding out was to protect you and to not bash your biological father. The whole situation is messed up but can be renewed as long as he keeps his promise to your Bae from when they had their conversation.

En he's trying to look for where to find happiness especially from his family (you). Im sorry you are going threw this but honestly you will never know the truth or find out who is lying unless you have both sitting in front of you in person and you confront both at the same time because you can confront your mom and dad seperate but u will believe your mom more since she is the one who raised you and i wouldnt blame you either for believing her because i would do the same if my dad was not in my life growing up... but i truly do not believe your dad is lying he didnt stutter not once it just seemed more like he was telling the truth and he showed how much it hurt him to loose out on seeing you grow up he never forgot about you I just sense that he is not lying just from the video u have of confronting him i know from expirence of friend that went threw this that there are alot of moms who lie and keep you from your dad out of anger because of whatever problems they had and as you grow they just tell you they never came for you or he dont want nothing to do with you... im not saying this is the case with your mom and dad But i really hope you get some kind of closure wether it be you finding out who was lying or even if you dont i pray you can move on and leave that in the past and move foward getting to know your dad more!!! Ok so being a only child also was raised by my mom I understand how you feel. The only difference for me is that I am still to this day trying to find out who my biological father is because my mom lied to me. So, the lies is real, but I was never worried about what happened in her past and whatever mistakes she made I just wanted to know the truth. Due to her not being honest even on her death bed I now dispise her. Ok you are still young, you and your mom have always had a wonderful relationship, and your biological father is sketchy. Me looking from outside in I would have to say your mom probably is being 85% on telling it the 15% is she was hurt and embarrassed. Now your biological father man that guy seems like he has had a lot of issues and the alcohol was one in his past and you werent the only kid to suffer from it. Now it's up to you to start from the day you and your Bae met him and see if he is loyal. I still feel like your biological father has stuff going on he isn't telling so just tread lightly and don't go in full fledge so you won't get let don't again. And as a mom myself now I can also tell you that your mom didn't divulge all that you are finding out was to protect you and to not bash your biological father. The whole situation is messed up but can be renewed as long as he keeps his promise to your Bae from when they had their conversation.
