- Another build for Exploration Brothers team. This time more challenging and at the same time very exciting project. Challenging because even though the van we chose to transform is under 4 and a half meters in length, we wanted to integrate all of the main commodities for comfortable living onboard. This would include a water system, electricity, heating, spacious sleeping and decent working spaces.
The final version of this camper van has 50 liters fresh water tank and 10 liters grey water tank. An extendable, one and a half meters, water hose that allows you to take a shower outside. Great for outdoors and beach trips.
The side sofa can be transformed into a full-size bed that can comfortably fit two people. Its size is 200 by 100 cm. Longer than a lot of the camper’s beds. You can adjust the width of the bed based on how many people are sleeping. After testing on his solo trips, Andriy was just slightly extending it for comfortable sleeping, for sleeping in two you would need to extend it all the way to the kitchen.
Two solar panels with total maximum output of 280 watt charge a 100amp lithium battery; along with the engine alternator while driving. Due to the low consumption (there is no fridge in the van, just a small fan, led lights and USB chargers), the battery can last forever, so you can spend even a week in the shade without the need of moving to recharge your battery. There is a controller with a dedicated app to track how much electricity you have left.
The swivel passenger seat gives extra living space while parked. There is an openable table on the side of the kitchen that can be used as a working or cooking space. Not the greatest for working but perfect to have lunch or just a cup of coffee.
In this build, we introduced a lot of new techniques and tools. Probably the biggest improvement regards the paint job. With a proper paint room, compressor and professional paint gun, Max managed to achieve professional final result for all the panels and furniture. New Makita router and biscuit joiner made some difference as well. We started using 3D printer for customized small parts you wouldn’t be able to find on the market.
The van is done and has been already tested for several trips. Most of the things work great. The heater is a lifesaver in the cold mountain environment, fan and hatch are doing a great job of keeping the van cool in the summer. The next video will be about life onboard and small modifications we made after using the van so stay tuned.

Maybe, the next car will be Mercedes-Benz V-class?
