I like to think that Ojamagic is mandatory as part of the running joke that the Ojamas are unliked. Like, you wouldn't want to add them, but you have to. It's not optional.
The [flip] description wasn't added until much later in yugioh history. Most of the flip monsters from the first sets pobably up til either the synchro or xyz era weren't identified as flip monsters. They state that they need to be flipped in their effects [FLIP:]
I am surprised most people aren't aware of this, is just like the /normal/ descriptor, if a card says [flip:] in the effect it is considered a flip monster, the reason why they don't have it yet is because they haven't been reprinted in a while so the database hasn't updated them either.
@@PotofDs Same thing happened during the release of the 5D's era and tuners, any card that was a tuner didn't have the EFFECT tag attributed to them. It was only with the release of Legendary Collection 5D's that tuners had the EFFECT tag.

5:20 I decided to look into this a bit more, and learned a few things: 1) Morphing Jar (but not Morphing Jar #2) is listed as a Flip monster on Konami's database 2) Cyber Jar is not a Flip monster, but is listed as one on DuelingBook 3) For obscure jars: Aroma Jar, Absorbing Jar, and Reverse Jar are Flip monsters. Cobra Jar and Dimension Jar are not (despite having "FLIP:" in their card text). 4) No well-known Jar is a Flip monster, excluding the aforementioned Morphing Jar.
aroma jar is the first flip monster to have flip written on its typings. the reason others dont have it is because they are old and released before it was written in typings
@@jimtsap04 I'm confused about the flip thing. Back in the day flip effect cards were only given the effect type so like man eater bug was a insect/effect monster. Then in the card text it would say Flip: I'm pretty sure is was only recently maybe last 5-10 years that flip was added as part so now it's Insect/Flip/Effect.
The FLIP subtype is kinda weird, but i think every effect that starts with 'FLIP:' as the first word of text, is a Flip Effect monster. So something like Shaddoll Beast is a Flip Effect monster, but Des Lacooda is not. But what i find weird, Aroma Jar actually doesnt start with FLIP, but is a Flip Effect monster because of the subtype.
@@josebuenrostro1430 So whoever updated the database with Flip tags just forgot about Cyber Jar et al? It's kind of funny that they remembered _exactly one_ of those cards. Something else to note on Comic Hand (that likely was just a mistake when Stevie made the card and not actually part of the quiz) is that it says "Equip Spell" in the brackets next to the equip icon when it should just say "Spell Card". The type of spell/trap is never indicated in the bracketed text, it is only indicated by the icon itself (or lack thereof).
Yeah, there are two types of flip monsters, the old ones that have the "FLIP:" text and the newer ones that have FLIP as a type, they both are flip monsters though
