Quick correction. You don't need the 12:36 VIP Fun Fright, just the normal fun fright, which means that it is even easier to get that budget armour! The VIP ones are for layered armor. Hope this helps someone.
When using a bowgun like safi aquashot for the sticky you also get access to para and sleep ammo. While the monster is stunned you can inflict a status since ko doesn't apply while the monster is stunned. Then when the monster is paralyzed or after you wall bang it after the sleep you can sticky and ko it again before it gets to move. The same can be done with traps. Lots of free damage for you and anyone else who might be hunting with you. Slugger is definitely worth getting in my opinion. It's also very easy to fit wide range in without losing out on huge amounts of damage if you're interested in it.
I'm a casual MHW player and lance main getting into the bow guns for the first time. Thank you for your budget builds. I have no plans to take on fatalis so I really appreciate the cheap versions.
An easy workaround the 3 attack jewels+: replace the charm for the Attack 5 charm. That way you will only need 1 Attack Jewel+ 4 and 3 Agitator Jewels+ 4 instead, which are a bit easier to get compared to the Attack jewels. Damn, I never wrote "jewels" that much lmao 🤣
I always love me a good, sticky build. The high-end one is VERY close to my already existing build, except i go all in on Knock Out. I use the Frostfang legs that give you 3x Slugger, lol. A lot of monsters you can nearly KO them in their KO state. Stand up, fall right over. Rinse and repeat. It's cheesy, but it's fun to see how many you can string together.
I’m pretty sure you are well over sticky damage cap with that build. All you really need is peak performance 3, artillery 5, and 3 or 4 attack boost. Combine that with feline bombardier food skill and buffing with mega demon drug, demon powder and might seed and you are at sticky damage cap. It gives you more flexibility so you can slot in slugger 5 and even tool specialist for mantle cooldown and even more survivability. But overall really good video man!
After playing 3000 hours with melee i made my first HBG build today - damage is crazy! I dont care if it trivialisize the fights, that feels good for a change ❤ Already fought everything in the game wity other weapons now im in HBG comfy mode 🎉
Hey, kinda late to the party here but i wanted to point out a detail about your lbg sticky set. Basically sticky ammo has capped damage, and the damage cap varies depending on the raw of the weapon, so for the safi aquashot full awakened in attack + 1 attack augment the skills you need to reach the cap are (considering megademondrug, might powder and might seed, eating for attack boost xl and for felyne bombardier) Attack boost 7, peak performance 2, and artillery 5. That's it, all the offensive skills you need. By maxing PP, agitator and also using coalescence 3 you are doing the same amount of dmg but also losing a lot of quality of life skills AND really important skills needed for the sticky ammos like Slugger 5, you could also fit in Earplugs 5 getting rid of the rocksteady mantle for impact mantle, also you could fit in recovery up to maximise healig from health augment and have 100% uptime with peak performance. Just use frostfang barioth greaves + 4 pieces of fatalis b and you should be good to build the true meta set of sticky ammo :)
Really enjoying that Shield HBG build atm. Long time Lance main so it suits my playstyle very well, and I automatically felt at home tweaking the deco choices to suit each hunt.
Tbh I’m at the point where I run glass cannon/heroics builds almost exclusively but it’s still nice to go back and see actual comfy builds once in a while lol
If you’re starting out rn,I’d recommend helm and legs of nargacuga, raging brachy b chest, raging brachy a arms and demon lord waist for free element and safi aqua with nargacuga essence, recoil and the rest are attack
Safi Burstcannon HBG is just stoopid good. Literally can farm Day of Ruin in 5 mins average while using 3 kirin 2 furious rajang set for that extra drop at the end. Best part is as long as you don't mindlessly click dem fire button you essentially can't die with it specially with a high level vigorwasp palico.
FYI, for the Sticky LBG set you're overshooting (lol, pun not intended) the sticky damage cap a fair bit. I'm not gonna run the numbers, but Agitator can definitely be dropped, and possibly even Coalescence as you're running Peak. The Attack 5 charm is better off in the Sticky Aquashot set. I've used it to run Fatalis a few times, so it can definitely put in work! I'd also suggest dropping 1x attack 5 awakens in place of a recoil suppressor awaken and swapping 1 recoil mod for power barrel instead if anyone is looking for more KO potential. Obviously Slugger 5 is good here. Ignore this for pure deeps and always eat for bombardier either way :)
I just got into Monster Hunter, and honestly, I would love to do a full playthrough with every weapon, but I don't even know if that's possible. I'm 60 hours in and still on early-ish high rank on my first playthrough
Don't do full playthrough woth each weapon, just switch weapon and build up from zero with the same acc, there are so many contents to complete it just such a waste to start a new, just do side quests and switch around, or do something like build early set up for different weapons then walk your way up to investigation, optional quest or replay main quest till you satisfied
I made a mistake of starting new game when i wanna switch weapon but it just became a burden if you didn't have enough time to play or didn't want to commit fully on mhw, now i focused on one account but built my arsenal and resources so i can comfortably switch around build & weapon freely, doing quest that i find fun while learning weapons/build instead of starting from 0 again
@@Apudurangdinya honestly, that's what I've been doing tbh mostly because I didn't know which weapon I liked best. Honestly, that's probably the way it was intended. It's why loadouts are a thing after all

@BloodTide76 was lucky enough to get a wildly good lbg the other a hellshot I believe but auto reload spread 2, sticky 2, paralyze 2, fire ammo, multi shot normal, and icing on the cake 😏 auto reload slicing. And like a base pierce ammo 5 and 4, sleep 1 and 2 ammo 12 and 10, just wild. Now if only I could find a group to grind safi some more lol
While I dont MAIN bow guns, I do enjoy using them from time to time... So thank you for allowing me to absolutely nuke some monsters in low rank. Or high/master rank. Mainly low rank though
24:13 Also, consider using offensive guard, yes it’s only 5% at lvl 1 but you don’t have to faint for it to trigger. It’s what I use personally and have found it to be very comfy on HBG 🙂
If you run a lot of slugger, you can run around 6 solo K.O’s against monsters. If you don’t have Safi Aquashot, get Taroth Blitz or Lightbreak for jewels and run exhaust ammo too.
What'd you do to get the attack jewels? I've been grinding out the tempered kushala quite a bit and have yet to get any at all, so I wanna make sure that my luck really is that bad lmao
They have a 0.267% drop chance from sealed feystones. "Day of Ruin" the tempered Teostra Event Quest gives at least 3 of them. "In the Tempest´s Waste" has the same chances for sealed feystones, but for me Teostra is easier/ less annoying than Kushala.
I’m on the ps4 I get diminishing returns if stack more than attack 3. I used similar build that is better for group and solo hunts. Fat depths and fat4 piece armor. Brachy chest piece. Agitator 7, earplugs5, artillery 5, evade 4, divine blessing 4, stun resistance 3, free elem up,blight resistance 2, crit eye 2, destroyer or peak performance , phoenix2. Slugger3 The phoenix decos really amp your ko. Really great for Kulve Tarroth in the last 3 phases.
I'm personally a big fan of the HH, since i enjoy both doing support things, and absolutely obliterating the faces of monsters. Would love to see both strong and fun builds for the HH, i have only recently beaten the Iceborne story so i have plenty to fight and plenty left to learn ^^
Just so you know, sticky ammo has a finite damage cap, with all your mods and pills/seeds/feline bombadier you are probably over it. To test it take your buffs and shoot an unenraged monster, if you see 144 damage you have hit the cap - note you can see higher damage with some modifiers e..g . some enraged monsters have a 1.2 damage modifier. If you are exceeding 144 dmg then drop some attack for another skill (e.g. slugger) or replace some of the augments with something with more utility e.g. health augment
I want to love the bow guns but I can’t get used to the radial menu and having to craft ammo mid fight, (I will admit part of it is I don’t really feel like going through the process of getting used to it 😅)
Hey, I was working towards your Loyal Thunder build but was a ways off then this comes out at a perfect time, been using the intro Spread build and its a lot of fun! Just wondering, besides the obvious Spread 3 do you make much use of the other ammo types on the Mightning/LT? Just curious if any of them are worth using over just constant Spread.
Whatever you do. Do not try to tank Rajang's super slam or his fist ground thunder attack without full health. Those two attack eats through your shield regardless of 5 guards and 3 shield mods. Anything else Rajang throw at you is manageable.
