The Alpine MRV-M500 has been around since 2012, but now is available at a discount on Amazon. These amps usually cost around $250, but now are available at $129 for a limited time. I picked up one of these due to the popularity and deep discount. I figured people may like to see more about this amp and how it performs. Make sure you watch all the way until the end so you see additional tests!

Have you ever tested the power acoustik caliber 3k?
Test the taramps 15k pleaseeeee
I have one of these from back in the gap, not sure if it even works but will be sure to find out now!
Williston Audio Labs are MRVs better than the older ones from 2007 yrs MRPs just wondering ?
Williston Audio Labs I just picked up a ultra linear ul600hc amplifier . Tried too look up the specs but couldn’t seem too find any good info on it , any ideas or info you could toss on it ???
Ya boy!!! This little thing is a beast. I got some extra fuses let’s roll baby!!!!!
I bought some exkra fuses too... I’m part of #TeamBlowFuse 👈😜
Beast Mode for sure
Rookies! I run resettable fuses.......
@@johnwilliamson2393 they're crawled breaker switches not resettable fuses but I get what you saying
You can never go wrong with alpine! Well trusted well-engineered audio equipment.
Only ever been disappointed in their stock systems. My Jeep Alpine system says 500 Watts; I say nuh-uh. But I'm disappointed in pretty much all stock systems. But I've never been disappointed by any of their aftermarket stuff.
@@robsolf Same with all the other big brands stock systems, Sony, Bose, All of em....
Anything Alpine I’ve ever had has been great, including my mrx-m55 which is a level up from this amp.
I have had trouble free Alpine ownage for more than 30 years, But i have actually ran into ONE Alpine Product that was pure junk, the KCE-635UB, an USB player, it overheated, the OS froze, and it ate my memory sticks (rendered them impossible to read or format)
Most Review`s i have seen indicate that this and its predecessor was a flop quality wise
I have both mrx-m55 and mrv-m500. I'm lucky to have both of them.
I purchased a Alpine MRV-F405 amp in 1996 and still running it today. Love Alpine gear!
I still have a MRV-F250 I bought new back in the day....still works. Also have a T300 and a F400 all purchased second hand from eBay....all work like they are ment to 👍
Owned 2 of these amps for 7 years now, one of the best amps I’ve owned!
Is there any way to run two of them one amp to one sub?
@@markisrweese8909 what
@@analogaudiorules1724 he’s saying if he has 2 subs and 2 amps he would run 1 of the amps to one of the subs and same to the other. he’s asking if its possible
@@markisrweese8909 of course it's possible
Only one left at that price. Big D is Amazon's number 1 salesman.
😂
@@wal I was going to say the same thing he beat me to it
Yes agree they need to be giving this man truck loads of money if they ain’t.
Was always curious about this alpine amp, thanks for the video
I've been running an MRP-M1000 for years pushing 2 12" Rockford P3's.. It's always performed strong. Been waiting forever to see one of these amps on the dyno. Thank you!
I've been having this amp for more than 2 years. Very very good it suprised me on how it sounded. I'm also pushing 1 12 massive audio gtx122
Say whaaaat is correct. A quality piece to this day. Elna and Nippon Chemi Con (or United) capacitirs, clean, simple layout and the proper amount of power for 80% of the public. I bought the older release of this used off of eBay in 2007. I love this amp. It is indeed perfect for an 8, 10, 12 or pairs of any size. I am kinda pissed. Mine was lost by my mother in her basement. It is in a cardboard box...somewhere! Too stoked to witness it double its rated power. A simple legend!
I had no idea these have been around for so long. We are getting old 😝
@@wal DOH! I truly am getting old! It was a MRP-M350 that I havd - originally released on 2005. Well, that amp model is badass Alpine too!!
@@wal yup buddy of mine got a older version in 2002! We damn old, good old reliable amp! Still works fine! Pushed a 12" alpine R type then onto a 8" JL w7 in a stealth box, rated for 700 watts rms at 2 ohm and only 500 rms sounded pretty good I was impressed.
Finally, one of the legendary names in car audio!
I am so glad you have made these video’s!!! It’s good to see all different types of amps on the dyno!!! It would be awesome to see the new Rockford prime amps if you get a chance! Thanks for the vids and keep them coming!!! Congrats on the 150k!!!! 🎉
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Awesome! Thank you! I think there are a lot of us that want to hear about Alpine, pioneer and Kenwood
Leaving comment prior to watching!
I had one of these and loved it for my first system! I thought it beat down hard as hell. I think it'll do what it is supposed to
Good guess!
I don't think I've ever seen a dyno test like that that was amazing great job Big D Wiz👍👍👍
Nice little amp. I had an alpine 4 channel MRV amp back in the 90's and it was a beast. It still works to this day in a friends vehicle...
Just what I wanted to know. Excelent data man!
Great video, love these entry setups. Lots of fun no stress setups.
That is a true value amp for sure. It does everything it says it’ll do and do it with ease for a great price. I don’t run any Alpine gear but if I was looking for an amp within these specs I would certainly be checking this piece out, discontinued or not. Great video “D”
I had 2 alpine mrp-m500 amps 500rms each loved them great amps for the price you wont be disappointed in alpine quality
👌😬👍
I used to have one. Ran a JL 12W3 in a high output ported JL box, among other things. Sold it to a friend who ran the original Sundown SA-8 ported. Great amp!
I have watched a lot of your videos. And I have seen a lot of underrated ant put up big numbers. But this is by far the most impressive to me. Given the size of the amplifier, cost and how cleanly it counted up. Nice win there👍 I would run this thing on a resistive 1ohm load confidently.
I've had one of these in the old impala running 2 polk audio 10s for 5 years and before that it was in my Nissan Sentra on 2 10s for 3 or 4 years. Still going strong. 💪 Great lil amp.
I love Alpine. I use this in my pops 63 old ‘s convertible on one 12 type s. Hits good and pairs nice with their 6 1/2 components. I’ve got the pdx line with type r’s in my 56. They hit hard and get low. Great video big D
I still have 2 of the Polk Audio amps you tested that I bought for $50. Keep finding the good deals!
This guy deserves a sub, great source for a new amp.
These are great little amps, I think I've had mine since 2013. I have the MRV 500 driving a single kicker 10" 2ohm dvc shallow mount , and the MRV300 bridged powering a pair of JL C3 650 components in my regular cab silverado. Perfect for a daily driver work truck.
Thank you Williston, All covered in one video.
Great video, sir..bits too funny, I just bought one locally for $60 bucks. It didn't have box or the side rails, but works great for a 12" 500wrms sub. Giving it to my nephew for Christmas, his first system setup.. keep these videos going, we really appreciate your work. Have a blessed Christmas and New Year.
Thanks brother, here’s wishing you a Merry Christmas too 🤪
That has to be in the Top 3 best Budget amps of 2019! Thanks Big D
Budget and quality
Great video, as a lay person that doesn't understand the in's and out's of the audiophile world, you explained everything so well. I actually learned something.
Nothing but great comments with alpine from me.. I bought an alpine V12 600w 2 channel amp back in 2002 from a friend who worked at a local car audio shop.. gave it to me cheap as it was the last of the stock.. that thing was built tough and would give alot today's amps a run for their money.
One of my favorite amps I owned was an Alpine MRV1000 V12. I had nothing but good luck with their amps.
LOVE the Alpine gear! Thanks for testing that amp, could you also test at some point the MRX-M240?? Curious to see what you can pull out of one. Love the channel by the way.
You can’t argue with the value on offer in the Alpine amps... this is a perfect example.
My PDX-V9 is similarly a beast, with 100x4 + 500x1 RMS @ 4ohm claimed and it certainly achieves great results
Alpine FTW 🤘🏻
I have this amp pushing an old 12" Treo in a sealed 0.85 cu. ft. box, it can bottom the 4 ohm 300rms woofer out if needed, it's in a trucks backseat. Super clean sound, this amp has always caught my eye from it's price/output/brand name ratio is o-so sweet.
That's MIND BLOWING to get that power out of that amp and have it run so cool. We used to do the same stuff back in the 80's with an old Linear Power 500, running 1100 watts RMS in mono. After a while that amp would COOK! Class D amps make such a huge difference.
Yessir!
Great amp had a few of them over time.. once ran it on 2 type s 10s and another time on a type r 12.. both sounded great.. alpine for the win
Would love to see you test some of the 1st and 2nd gen V12 amplifiers!
Yayy finally you read my mind!! You can buy these and older mrp m500 version for $80 on eBay
I’ve had this amp about 5 times in my life, favorite amp ever back in the day because it always seemed to produce that power.
Awesome 👏
@@wal thanks big D!
I just bought 2 kicker q class L7s and a JL 900/5 for my new whip this summer, just waiting on the courts to let me drive again!
I've always enjoyed my Alpine amps. I've tried the m5 m55 m500 and all were trouble free except the m500 has a wine noise at idle but since it's going in a trunk build it won't bother me as bad. Keep up the good work
My s-a60m does that too, for whatever reason pushing on the power terminals stops it but once I let go it comes back.
Now that’s what you call a true budget gem!
For $125 that’s a freaking steal for a quality amp that has real power!! 👍👍
Been great for decades
awesome video man most informative i could find on this amp i just bought it and really happy about it and i seen a video were a guy was saying it got hot but i couldnt find any other examples of it getting hot if you did that for an hour ill be good with my 2 10 alpine e series and this amp thanks very much big fan of all ur vids
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have one and love it! Been running it for a couple years
I’ve heard so many positive things about this amp! 👌
I have mrp450 and it satisfies for sure. Another great video Big D
I have owned one of these for years now I’m playing it one the first edition type R 10 it sounds amazing great great buy
Keep up the good work man. Can you try the mrv 1200 next
And the winner of the big things come in small packages today goes to the Alpine amp! The crowd goes wild! Got a winner here! Hello, anybody home? Loving the BMX thing on the front! Go BigD!😊👍🏻
Great budget amp...THANKS BDW
Thanks for watching and commenting!

Ain’t gotta lie your bmx intro makes me want to watch RAD, I’m starting too feel old lol 😂 thanks for the dyno....
Does it have good sound quality, is it clean?
I have this amp and I've been using it for a couple of years now with an Alpine 8 inch sub and it's been very reliable
I’m buying this amp rn to push a single 10 or 12. As always thank you for your videos
I have the same exact amp and I'm VERY impressed by it
Just bought the MRV-M1200 the other day, now I'm really curious what that can do compared to its little brother! Great video Big D! Keep the Alpine stuff rollin in
Awe yeah!
A feel good test to end the year.
I hope to have a few more vids released by the end of the year 😬
@@wal Yeaahh boy! Thanks Big D for a fun year.
WOW that things amazing. Hella impressed it didn't go into protect. Excellent review. And THANKYOU for replacing fuses till it went through. Im a bigger dummy n would've kept going, least one of uses the melon on the shoulders
Had this one and it’s twin 4 channel amp for about 5 years now still sounds like a champ
Awesome feedback 👌
Look how clean it was built!!
I like these amps I've had both syles the older style "v power" M500 one and now one like this. They are beasts.
Good channel subscribed here from philippines thank you dude
I push 2 15 kicker comp r's in sealed boxes and it sounds wonderful.. dont sleep on this little beast
Got an mrv m450 for about 8 yrs now and still going .purchased 2 mrvm500 for 2 clients....i have to say they're badass
Wow, so nice too see the reputation still holds, those 1 ohm tests were insane!!!!!
Thanks for not spoiling the results by posting the numbers 👏
@@wal whoops, hope I didn't say too much!!!! Thx!!
Very under rated.
Have had this exact amp for like 9 or 10 years now. Been powering a 12 Alpine e then a shallow mount 10" Rockford when I downgraded for space. NEVER had an issue.
Blown away at the ending.. WHOA!
Me too...in a good way!
Crazy results from that cheap, little thing!!!! Awesome!!!!
This amp is absolutely killer! If only it could safely run 1Ohm loads, I would definitely buy for an upcoming build! But great video as always, and awesome shoutout to Alpine for making such an awesome amp! Keep up the good work man!
With music it should be ok to run at 1 ohm. I blew fuse with brutal uncertified test, but you’d likely not have that experience with music. At your own risk of course...
By the time you get some box rise, and as long as you don't overgain the amp you would probably be able to get away with a 1ohm load. Take a lesson from the Taramp a few weeks ago and underfuse it until you find the sweetspot!
Agreed. I used to run a Infiniti Kappa at 2 ohm bridged, it was only rated for 4.
The only time it ever went into protection was when playing heavy bass music for a long time, on a hot day.
I purchased a used one of these from a pawnshop. It looked brand new to me. No scratches or missing swrews. I haggled and got it for $65 out the door. Extremely happy with this amp.
Great dealio
Those are solid amps. I had one in a single cab chevy truck. Had it on 2 10" Alpine bass line subs. Sold the amp to friend, he put it on 2 Alpine type s 10's in a ported box. It was twice as aloud as it was in my truck. Those amps sound good and get loud...
Interesting 🧐
I had this in my Vette pushing a 10'' Type-R, loudest & cleanest bass ever. No issues, no complaints.
Nothing but warm fuzzy feelings when it comes to Alpine. Had a pair of Type R that destroyed my trunk back in the day.
Hell ya one great ass amp thanks buddy . Used to have a arc audio amp would love to see what they do
Love the MRV Amps. Great job to Alpine
👌😬👍
I have this amp in my Jeep Wrangler running a 10 inch Rockford. I have been happy with it. I didn’t want to spend a lot of $$ on the system since you can just unzip the windows and take what ever. Thanks for the review bid D.
I think we get caught up with all of the multiple thousand watt amps at times and forget the average person doesn’t want or need all that.
Williston Audio Labs I think amps like this sit in a sweet spot.
Not surprised at all. Alpine amps have always been underrated. Ran dual Alpine amps back in the late 80’s/ early 90’s and they were bullet proof. The 100 watt amp running my subs would blow its 40 amp upstream fuse but never blew its 30 watt onboard fuse.
I was out of the car audio game for about 10 years but I got that itch again after all these years. Recently I bought this amp and paired it to a JL Audio HO110RG-W3v3 in my Tesla and it absolutely pounds! It feels good to be back!
I just bought the MRV-250, basically the 250 watt version of what you got. I don’t know if the 500 watt is the same, but my 250 watt has been recently discontinued. I’m not worried about that, I know just a newer model has been released. But will I still get the warranty you think?
@@damon323 i believe its 2 years warranty from time of purchase.
I have this amp pushing two Polk 10's at 2 ohms in sealed enclosures. I have run it pretty hard here in the Arizona desert for about 5 years now with no problems.
Bought 1 of these after this video. It has no problem pushing my Pioneer Premier 12s
I have a mrp m500 and mrp m1000 and these amps are incredible
These are great little amps. I have a version of this amp in my wife’s exploder hooked up to massive gtx 10
I have that very amp pushing two oldschool Kenwood Typhoon 12s in a single cab truck and does pretty good. I also have the 4 channel version on four 6x9s and it does well. Solid amp for the money.
I started with alpine decades ago. Alpine, DEI, crossfire.
Never had a single piece of alpine equipment fail, or degrade. The old mrd m 1005 was my favorite of them all. Still banging today, after a decade plus of hard abuse.
Couldn't say that about the most popular brands today.
I have used these little amps for quite a few years in different vehicle still own a couple and there great amps for the money.
I want that amp for sure!
I am surprised. I've seen several of these amps blown up. (Not by me)
I've had a ton of the mrp-m500's, they are good. The mrv's are smaller and lighter. After this test I want to give them another chance. Thanks again Big D!
Yeah boi
I'm a professional installer, and I've seen a fair number of these amps blown up... Always accompanied with a blown sub. The really fun part is I've now seen 3 of these blown up in a way I've never seen another amp blow up... The amp powers on, no protect light, but it has 12v DC on the speaker terminals!!! I watched another tech swap out a blown sub, and immediately blow the new one because of this! He hooked it up, turned on the key to test it, heard a "thwip" sound, ignored it (derp), tried to play music and had no bass, then smelled that lovely tell-tale smell coming from the brand new JL W3 he just installed. *Sigh*
@@VintageandVoltage ya that don't seem to be a good way to fail!
I have one of the MRP models. It bumps, I've been running it for 6 years, and bought it used for $30 and it came with an old school 50 W lanzar amp too. Best $30 I ever spent
I love alpine quality. Still rocking my old school alpine cda105. Only complaint I have is they will not run long at all at 1ohm. But as long as you load amplifier according to specs they last forever. I've had the mrp850, mrp1000, and still have 2 brand new mrp 2000 in their boxes. Someday will run all alpine build.
I've got this on 2 10" rockford fosgate r2d2's and it's awesome
I’ve been running out of time from back in the 80s they had to Alpine amp that were plugged in to the alpine radio that would give you an 18 x 18 Rock Amplifier and that they would put out 75 watts i’ve also had eight R Type alpine on 4 Alpine 1000s watt amps in a Chevy suburban! I love Alpine equipment! Very strong amps and speakers
Alpine sure has passed the test of time. The best bang quality for the buck!
👍🏻☺️👍🏻
I have a 10 year version of this amp and it still slaps
Great test and anp. I like the older models with the subsonic filters a little better, all in all Alpine makes good amps
👌😬👍
i have a friend who own one of these amps. he got it off another friend used and he daily abuses it. It is mounted in the trunk under a floor board with no air circulating at all and he beats on it @ 2ohms on his stock electrical (lights dimming and all) and it never goes into protect. It was bought at 2012 and still bumps hard to this day. crazy relaible and very compact great for someone looking to bump a single 12 or 15 on the daily
That’s awesome 👏
I have this amp pushing a kicker L7t 12” in a .6 sealed enclosure and it rocks!!!
I bought this in 09 for the same price and it’s definitely worth the money, pushed a Orion 10 hard and survived me mounting it to the box and a T-bone crash when it was loose in my trunk
I got a second hand Alpine PDR-M65 for 50 bux, its tiny but it will slam out over 750wrms at 2 ohm, I've got some really big expensive gear, but this little thing is awesome, I ❤ it
