Hi, I left some stuff on the comments section in the other 6R80 gen1 2nd design video, I'm stuck with this transmission because the overhaul on the gearbox and the valve body didn't fix the issue.
I had a 07 Expedition bought new from the Ford dealer 6R80. The SUV was ok but the transmission was a big pile of junk. Did not even have it 24 hours and already had transmission problems. Took it back to the dealer and they said that it needed a "reflash". It did work for about 3 months then started doing the same thing. It would start in second gear instead of 1 st gear. Every time I took it back to the dealer, they insisted that it was fixed. But only for a while. Then the problem returned. I got tired of going to the dealer and just learned to live with it. On extended warranty then it started having other problems. Driving down the street the transmission would start banging so loud it sounded like someone was running into me. This time I took it to the Ford dealer on extended warranty that I paid extra for they finally fixed the problem. They said that the valve body was defective. They replaced it and then it ran just fine ever since. Basically, I bought a new valve body through the extended warranty to replace the defective valve body from the factory. I learned since that dealers use the "reflash" as a crutch just to get you out the door instead of actually fixing the problem. When you hear "oh it just needs a reflash" demand a real repair and don't let up until they actually fix the problem.
There are certain instances where a reflash does work. What you had sounds like a lead plate problem. They are horrible about failure. So much so it is hard to get your hands on one. Been that way for a couple years now. Can take up to 7-8 months sometimes to get one. Just depends on when they get a shipment. May have been what you were dealing with. Putting you off until some came in. The aftermarket ones IMHO are just as bad if not worse.
Hi! Happy new year! Is it ok to have some air sound when air checking clutches? Or there must be no air escaping sound at all when hard pressing the air gun on the hydraulic holes of clutches?
Hi, Thank you so much for the information. I am working on a 17 f150 6r80, changing the lead frame on it. Im replacing with a new OEM part from the dealer. the truck was running and driving drive and reverse with just an intermittant p0720 and p0722 codes. after replacing the lead frame the truck would not engage on reverse. the indicator show R and live data as well. its just not moving in reverse at all. Do you have any idea what would be the possible cause of it? thanks in advance
Sounds like there is a problem with the tube seals that seal between the valve body and the center support. If they fell out you may have put one in the wrong spot. The late model only uses 3. One of the ports is blocked off.
@@CurmudgeonTransmission Yes I do have 3 of them and I looed at a couple of videos to compare. the are the same. do you think if they are pushed in axtra would let pressure escape? when you push them into the transmission do they have a stop of they can be pushed in more than they should be?
@CurmudgeonTransmission thanks, by the way do you have facebook account? I am planning to rebuild my 6r80 diy only, your video is a great help for diy'ers like me.
Thank you bro
Welcome
Great video sharing brother

There will be some on the low reverse circuit.

@alibaggio They should be sticking up past the case.
@@CurmudgeonTransmission mine also are but can they be pushed more than suppose to?
Yes, they will be pushed up by the valve body.
What grease are you using?
Is that grease you putting? What kind of grease is that?
