My first HTC was the HD2, which is still one of the best smartphones ever made. Not that it competes with modern smartphones, but that you could literally install just about any OS on it; and it would run.
Mine came with Windows Mobile, which was shite! Kept locking up the phone. So, I installed an Android ROM. Worked great. Upgraded to ROMs with newer versions of Android, until the phone took a 10 story dive down the garbage shute.
Many people have installed different Linux distros on the HD2, as well as stripped down versions of Windows 95 and XP. That phone just worked!
It would be nice to see HTC produce a phone that's just as robust and versatile as the HD2 was.
They are both named HTC One.

Not exactly. While the HTC M7, M8 & M9 shared similar platforms and looked quite similar to each other, the rest of the HTC One series phones were quite different from them.

Even the HTC Evo 4G LTE was technically part of the One series, as it was an evolution of the One X.
HTC hit on a good marketing plot with the "One" series, but when the phones varied too much from the One series predecessors, it confused consumers. It didn't help that HTC couldn't get a bigger footprint in markets throughout the world. They simply didn't get the North American and European market. Without a stronghold in those markets, they couldn't increase revenue enough.
They've always made good phones. Sometimes even the best phones! It's just a shame that more people weren't aware of them.

I truly hope they get back making smartphones as they did,real flagships like M7/8/9,happy to see HTC.
But the authentic HTC Sense experience is long gone, missed Sense 1~6

The most talented team in designing hardware and software since the begining of the smartphone era.If they would've had great marketing and maybe better decision factors....Only the hope remains for me to see HTC designing the BRILLIANTS again.Lets hope this is the first step.They are stratting quietly but maybe next year it will be quietly brilliant.HTC FOREVER!SENSE FOREVER!
Brilliant comment! I loved my Desire, One M7, and M8. I'm sure HTC went downhill due to bizarre advertising. They were always ahead of their time when not comes to hardware and software features though.
That team apparently no longer works at HTC because their designs have been horrible and very ordinary in the last 5-7 years
@@leebeeskee I believe the decisions made by the company inside and out created problems and also the ARMY of reviewers that affected the trust in the company.many people have a tendency to take any comment or review for granted, ultimately affecting their decisions when it comes to buying something.When HTC made the poorly M9 witch didn't "explode" like other brands, HTC never recovered from there but the one that "exploded" did recover.I've owned the last flagships 10, 11, 12 and all of them were excellent but the details witch was unlikely for HTC were left behind.The timing always bad after the M9, the OLED/AMOLED were not taken into account and other small things that sell as well. Otherwise all the smartphone above were excellent, the U11 and U12 were fantastic devices with fantastic cameras and super customizable and well backed SENSE UI and superb design.Since 2008 when I've discovered HTC with the Diamond and then the HD2 I've became a HTC fan and they have delivered with all the arguments on the table.If we take a look in the past and watch the design in hardware and software, HTC were ahead of it's time (make pertinent comparisons between HTC HD2, ONE X, One M7, U12 and other devices) SO THE EXPECTATIONS were big with every year and that is a pressure that should make you be prepared for a SLIGHT fall.I liked HTC and it will remain the best smartphone company for me but with all that is happening in the world and how the smartphone market looks right now I don't know or believe that HTC will regain serious market in order to make a top notch flagship.Sony did it with a small team and they did with a lot of patience like a real Japanese company and now they have an excellent device in the one Mark V, maybe HTC has a quietly brilliant strategy.
@@rrageneral1499 Yes, they were bought by Google and it can be seen from the first google UI software parts of Sense UI like for instance not needing to download themes to customize your UI colors and shapes.But Sony restarted their smartphone business with a small team and with a lot of hate and now they came with the Mark V witch is a fantastic device based on what Sony represents as a company.HTC never sold cameras, TV's or stuff like that but they always knew to make a smartphone that can do all when it comes to software and hardware.I still hope to see HTC a top smartphone company.

My last HTC was U11, it was really a great phone.
I was HTC's biggest fan for years. I had a Resound, an M8, M9, and U11. After they stopped selling phones in the US, I held onto that U11 until it was basically on life support. I bought a Motorola phone (that I hated) December 2020. Last fall, I switched to a Pixel 7 Pro. I like my P7P, but I'd love another HTC phone. They're the best!
Only reason why Pixel could make such a good comeback was because they bought HTCs entire engineering department

I'm a huge HTC fan too! Had the Desire 600, HTC 10, HTC One M7, and the U11+.
Awesome phones! All had magnificent experiences with them.
So happy to see this. Miss my old HTC flagships. Looks like they are taking the design back to some of their better models. Hope this doesn't disappoint! Been putting up with subpar phones for too long. Would happily switch back to HTC in a heartbeat if this turns out to be a solid build.
HTC One m7 was my second smartphone and I loved it. It's a bummer that the return of HTC isn't with a full on flagship level device but hopefully this midrange device gets enough traction for you guys to make a full comeback in the mobile space

Pre ordered mine, been using my HTC Exodus now for 3 years. Still working fine to this date 😃

Wow! Just looked at the spec sheet & the U23 Pro is really impressive for just £499!
And if the software skin on the Desire 22 is anything like the one that ships on this thing it should be a clean experience. Perhaps HTC sees the hole One Plus left and is jumping in as a contender to fill it

I have owned 3 HTC devices before: HTC One X, HTC Butterfly2, and HTC 10. Out of these 3, I only have the HTC 10 left and it is still working. Glad to see HTC is back

Me and my family had owned htc , but as for me i only used htc phones during my life until they stopped the production so i had to switch to pixel knowing that htc's developers designed it with google and here are some phones we used to own

I am so glad to see this. My first htc device was htc One X and I loved it. I have used almost 10 phones and miss none of them except the One X. It was such a clean and sexy looking phone. I regret selling it to this day. I really want htc to get back in the game and once again, dominate the market like it used to. I am sure if they launch a great phone with industry standard or better specs, the sales will sky rocket.

If HTC returns it would make ripples in the smartphone market.Because both Samsung and Apple were inspired by it and also scared by htc's brilliant design and unique hardware.
I don’t know, HTC was way ahead of Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, and Apple but their support and service sucked!

I had the HTC One and it was the best designed phone I ever owned. Would gladly use the same design with new software and SoC.
This phone looks like any other generic Android though. It's a start. Hopefully HTC tries to do something different with the designs in the future.

I just charged up my U11 and my M8 the other day for nostalgia. Both still perform smoothly. I'm saving up now to try to get this new HTC 👍.

This phone although they call it pro but lacks a lot of things like no stereo speakers, slow charging & has big bezels. If camera performance is great & it is priced competetively then may sell a few units otherwise bound to fail!

The Desire HD was my first ever touch phone. It was an excellent piece of hardware. I hope HTC makes a comeback someday soon.
HTC sensation & htc 8x were what i used, the beats collaboration they use to hav was a treat to music lovers.
I had htc sensation with beats audio ❤loved that phone best build quality best user experience loved the time and calender widget
I had HTC One E9s dual back in 2016 and was one of the best phone i ever had. Dolby audio with boom sound and a great in box earphone which was better than apple and Samsung at that time.
Looking forward for HTC to revive and come back to Indian market.
They should stop being quietly brilliant and just be brilliant. And brilliant as in make flagships with amazing designs like you did in 2013.

My Evo3D and One Max are still working.
Each phone was the best at the time.
One thing complain is that U12+ has too much weight. But I still using it today.
