This is probably the hands down my most favorite songs of all time. My dear friend becky Bliss and my dear brother James Blair introduced me to this song. It conjures up bitter sweet moments. Becky Ann and James Bkair made some wonderful memories. I chose this song at my dear departed brother's funeral in 1984. I laugh through my sorrowful tears sometimes when I hear this song. They both died tragically but I know I heard the bell ring three times each so they earned their wings are are saiking in heaven with the blessed hoky trinity. Rest in Peace James Blair and future sister in law and dear friend. Fate didn't allow them to marry but I imagine when they appeared at saint Peter's gate he handed them their marriage certificate and sailed them right up to heaven. Beautiful song❤
One of the most stunning memorable moments of my life: June 1980 living in South Padre Island/ Port Isabel, Tx. Gorgeous day. I lived across the street from the beach I could see it through my picture window which faced the ocean. It was already a stunning crystal clear day with the sunlight dancing and glistening all over the water. It was the day of The World Hobey Cat Races. There was a large number of Hobey Cats racing back and forth on the water with their gorgeous colorful sails. I was cleaning house with my twins playing on the floor and I was listening to the radio. This song came on the radio as I was looking out the window at the sailboats. It was a breathtaking sensory overload.... a gift.
Hello fellow Texan I geew up sailing in Offetts Bayou in Galveston a sunfish. I left at 16 and returned to Houston in 1981 the year after this song came out...I was 32 met the love of my life we bought a sailboat together 32fter had sailed Hobies. We sailed away in early retirement in 1997 to the Caribbean on our 46ft motorsailor...we dreamed of it and planned for it since the night we met. We sailed it for 7years ...glorious life. Then we sold it and built a tropical house abroad. He passed away 2 years ago at 80. But all that sailing. all those years of joy, all those years of deeams come true...I have been lucky. My early life had not beem so easy lost all my family by the time I was 16 which is when I left Texas the first time. I hope your life has been beautiful too...I can SEE what you described sailing Corpus Chrosti Bay....thanks for that lovely sight in my mind.
