Killing it on these tutorials! Good tip about going higher than you'd think I never would of guessed that and screwing your pallets together is a good tip I never thought of either
Great little tips! I think small speed bumps helped me learn how to do this type of hop. Although it's not as glamorous, I also like to use small pumps like this to get extra speed when cruising. You can hop and put your nose down into the bump and then when your back tire hits, you get a boost forward.
Awesome stuff! Perhaps another idea is tapping up where you bump the front wheel on the obstacle you're trying to clear? I'm not sure I described that correctly. Cheers!
Thanks for the reply Duncan. We're all good here - hope you guys are too. You and Rory have inspired Thorfinn to get his own garden pallet set-up. Check it out: instagram.com/p/B--FCeOnOgm/
Gonna try this later today. I'm managing 5 pallets with the usual peddle up but always land flat. How do you get the bars up so high, is it just shoulder strength. I just cant seem to get bars to go that high. Great videos. Love the slow mos so we can see what's happening
Top tutorials - tried the pallets on my full sus - is it much easier on a trials to learn If so what would you recommend as a cheap starter and what spec
Great video! Hopefully this helps with me learning the hop-up to rear on the flat. Can this be used on a 26" Comp bike too? Struggling to lift the front compared to my street bike
It can be used but it is definitely harder as it is so long. When I did these before on a comp bike I used to pedal to get the front up and only bump the back wheel. Doesnt work as well as with both wheels but still gives you a good boost.
Seems like a bump jump would help with getting timing right, even when you're just learning basic bunny hop and not necessarily going for height. What do you think about using bump while tuning the timing while learning BH?
@@TwoGuysOneVan thats how i learned basic BH. i always used to do wheelie on the straight part and BH over every Sidewalk, bumb, manhole, Puddle, leaf, what ever was on the ground on my way to work /school
Hey Duncan. Great video, as usual! Can you comment on the differences between doing this technique on a mountain bike versus a fully rigid trials bike? I have a hardtail and a full suspension mountain bike, both with 29" wheels. Should I expect results to even be close to a trials bike? Should I try locking out my suspension? I suspect it is the rider, not the bike in this case but maybe you have some tips. :-)
I would say you can do it on a mountain bike but not quite as high. I wouldnt recommend licking suspension out.Try to work with it rather than locking it out. You will need to exaggerate all the moves and pull alot harder.
Never occurred to me to do a bump jump just for a plain old hop. Do it on the trail all the time... totally gonna hide a little bump in the grass next time we have a bunny hop competition here ;-)
I dont feel its a cheats. Its a skill. Not everyone can bump it. I use it time to time to help me get out situations in trails, streets and tricks! Great initiative to do this video! Great video!!
agis43 i have the same problem i can land on the wheel I want (also both) but when i try to go as high as I can I also land front wheel heavy and I ride a full sus enduro.
I guess I understand the main idea even before watching a video. I just don't get how you force that bump not to move. It feels like that little rock or a plank has to fly over the horizon after hit with front wheel.
I am riding this bike as I got a new wheel from Santa Cruz and Industry 9 but the axle only fits the old bike so waiting for a new axle before I can build my Yellow bike back up.

Literally JUST tried this for the first time yesterday. Apt timing. Good video!
Awesome! hope it helps.
Nice video dude ! But that bird sound in slow motion at 8:20 is dope ! 😁
Haha I know right!
Fantastic guys I am running out to grab some pallets, doesn't look easy. Watched the slack line video amazing balance.
Awesome stuff! Perhaps another idea is tapping up where you bump the front wheel on the obstacle you're trying to clear? I'm not sure I described that correctly. Cheers!
Yeah for sure that works too. Hard to do this with the bump at the same time but definitely another way to get extra height.
Duncan Shaw oh I meant as another idea for a video. I don’t know what I’m talking about!
I Love this kind of Videos. Please keep it up.
Cheer will do!
Great vid! We're loving watching Rory's rapid progression 👍🤘🔥

I never really thought of this but think it could help with the timing for sure.
@@duncshaw I find having something to aim at BH over - even if it's just a shadow on the ground - helps... Even though I'm well crap at BH...

keep doing those vids they are really helpful

Another great technique video!!! Thank you!
Thanks!
Thank for this video and Das czar ion good bike for 1 year trial rider????
Yeah that is a good bike to learn for sure.

Yeah love these on the trails.
Will be trying this on my 160mm enduro bike latter I really should look at getting a trials bike 😂
You should!
Do you have a tip how I can make my Magura mt7 raceline better because it doesn't last? Whenever I jump on an edge, it goes through
What part is breaking?
Te salió muy bien el trasera sigue así 👌👌
Muchas Gracias.
realy nice video/explenation🤙
Cheers Dean
Nice.. I use kerbs & stairs but nothing this big :)
Yeah kerbs work great.
Cheating? Well I couldn't do it with a bump or without, so I think you are using great skills. Enjoyed watching this.
Could you do this technique on a competition trials bike?
You can but definitely harder to do it.
How can I land back wheel first? I almost always land front wheel heavy, also on flat ground...
If you push harder with the front wheel it will come up faster so should help. Try it quite slow too!
Duncan Shaw Will be trying that tomorrow, thank you!
Edit: Please keep making these videos, they‘re really helpful!
riding full sus bike?

Wait, you said your driveway? Did you guys move out of the legendary trials flat?
Hahaha! It is a long story!
There is a recurring pattern with Danny sneaking into your videos :D
Haha I know.
Damn!!! That was high! Unreal!
Thanks Joe.
Nice Duncan! 💪
The bump is more a hint from where to start the hop rather than helping with height...I would definately clear two paletts...:-)
Smashing. Great stuff.
Thanks Kemo.
Thank you😁

Does this work with mtb bike? like 29er?
Yeah but definitely a bit tougher.
what should I change for a 26" bike?
Technique works very similar.
IS THAT POSSIBLE ON BIGGER BIKES/ BIGGER WHEELS???
Yeah just needs some extra effort.
I wonder if DannyM could’ve bump hopped it on his mtb?
Cheers!
So good!
Again on old bike

How to G-Turn Duncan? :D
I can try!
👍
Thats worth a subscribe!!!
I daily drive a 1990 full size Ford bronco
Awesome
I can say for sure it is not cheating, it is not easy to master it even though it’s an “easier” technique.
Me too!
Trials is easy and it’s so low risk for me lol
brad simms uses this method
He is a beast!
not cheating, i think bump jumps are scary XD
