today. AFTER 12 YEARS of endless tutorials. your tips and tutorials finally made me do a bunny hop. massive thanks!
Wow brother thank you I’m so stoked to hear that thank you for sharing this
Wow brother thank you I’m so stoked to hear that thank you for sharing this
That's wicked!! I feel like I have hope too now after seeing his vids
The reason why I can’t is because I am too scared I’m going to fall off I can’t get my back wheel off and I’m at also not strong. I’m also 12
@@havon you have so much time I was 15 when I first did it
Finally, I realized why I couldn't properly pull up the front tire. I was pulling it by back all this time, because of the fear of falling on the back. This video broke the ice. Much appreciated!
Well welcome so stoked to hear this
Just a little minor tip, while your talking, lower the volume of the music, while editing, because it can be a little distracting, but otherwise great video, learned a lot
You are the second to say so I really appreciate that feedback!!!
@@MTBdropIN I third this.
😎🤘
I completely agree. Ruined the video and I stopped watching. Don't just turn it down while talking, turn it off....
Greg Henderson sorry about the volume but music is a big part of my style I’m sure you’ll find something else out there 👍😊
Some good nuggets of information there! I’ll certainly be trying these. Nice vid. 🤘
ThAnks brother
This was a really good video, thanks for the great tips! I realized that I had this fear of overshooting to the back, o I never really fully commit to throwing my weight back. Instead of trying to find the sweetspot like this it is definitely better to learn to overshoot and land on two feet... seems so obvious now that you showed it, but now I finally have something to properly train and try to improve my Manual/Bunny hop! Thanks man!
Wow that’s crazy amazing thank you!!!
Dude, you definitely don't suck! I have been trying to do the American bunny hop for a few months now, and can't wait to try your method. I should record my progress and post it! Thanks! Great vid!
Right on brother thank you 😢 can’t wait to see
Another high quality video man! Perfect tips for gaining confidence to hop stuff. Kudos and keep the content coming!!!
Thanks Ken! Thank you for the comments they are encourage me a ton!
I've watched MANY videos about how to bunny hop. And I learned something from each. However, I could not lift the front wheel in any meaningful way. What I learned in this video made it happen. After watching this, I went out and started to lift my front wheel consistently. I am not YET doing bunny hops, but I am in the process like I was not before. Thanks!
Your “Why you can’t…” videos are so good, I hope you make more. I’ve watched tons of tutorials trying to learn to jump and bunny hop and just wasn’t getting it, until now, everything just clicked. Cheers!
One of the most useful videos I have seen on this. Defiantly relevant to me. Most of the top pro videos make it seem too simple and it isn't. Thanks for the vid, Ill be on this tomorrow.
Ha ha right on brother
Broooo
I finally did it! Thanks man i watched many videos but this actually teached me❤❤❤
Great, thanks for this clip because am going to practice on it and I'll be back to bring every progress.
Essential skill for adding fun to your trail riding. Well done
Right on brother thank you!
Great vid! I think the way you approached this video is exactly what I needed to learn it. Makes total sense and can’t wait to try it.
So stoked right on brother 😎🤘 share with me your progress
Great Video like always, thank you and keep up the good work
ha ha thanks brotha !!!! 🤗
Awesome! This makes so much sense.
Ha ha right on glad to hear 😎🤘
Great video, very helpful and I watched a ton of BH videos. I learned the English BH when I was a teenager, I call it the piggy hop. So learning the American is hard for me, your video helped a lot!!! Thanks!
Right on brother so glad I could helpn😎🤘
I've seen a lot a videos and I never knew why I couldn't do a correct bunny hop before I saw this one. Thanks man ...
Dude that’s awesome man thank you for letting me know
Really appreciate this one. As easy as a bunny hop looks, the learning curve can be difficult. Your presentation style was ideal for the subject at hand. I'll get back to ya after I go put your teachings into practical application! Excuse me, I gotta go ride!
Ha ha right on please keep me posted!
Best I have seen for how to actually learn the American bunny hop and trying to get over all the little pitfalls.
right on brother thank you can't say how much I appreciate that ;)🤗
You have the best tutorials. Keep it up!
Thanks brother so much
I Like your video and your positive attitude - stay safe.
Right on brother
Thank you! This helps a lot. I'll try to apply this tomorrow morning. Hope it works on me. I'll keep you posted...
Sick please do 😎🤘
This video was the one. I can finally do it :D
Thanks so much

It's a great video. Showed me a different perspective.
Great job
Right on brother thank yoy

This is really helpful!!
Super stoked you found useful
Thanks for the great video, still working on it!
Hell yes that’s the real key
Thank you for the tip
Ok, I think you might have solved my bunny hop problem. I will give the loop out routine a try. Thanx✌️😊
😎🤘
Good explanation, bro! Awesome 👍👍
So glad you got some value from it 😎🤘
You are a good bloke
Thanks bro, now I have everything to do a hoop, that fear to fall back is the key that was holding me.
I start to practicing in the grass
Pull all the way back and land in my feet
Hell yeah brotha let me know how it goes ?
The production quality of this is INCREDIBLE
Thanks so much
Thanks for the tips!
right on brother anytime!
Great video! This tip was very useful.
😎🤘
This really helped thanks dude
right on brother anytime!
Jajajaja! Alex's face at first was like: "Yeah, get off my back, bro..."
Yeah I know 🤣
Great videos bro. And I watch like 6 channels for mtb skills...yours give a fresh new practical take on skills
Dude right on so glad to hear this
You were within 6' of people in 2020. A man who likes to live dangerously. I like you
Lol this was actually filmed right before all thisblol
man... excellent...thanks
your welcome let me know how your progress goes.
This is good info. Insta-sub, and off to practice for an hour or two.
Great video man really helps. For me I would keep trying to pull the bar's + bike up with me and and trust me it get's painful after hour's. So yea technique all the way and practice practice!
Right on man you got it!!!
I like it thanks for the tip!
Right on brother anytime
Awesome channel mate new sub here keep up the good work 👌🏼👍🤙
thank you sir can't thank you enough.
This was really helpfull
Thanks 👍
So stoked
Great content 😊
😎🤘
Very good tips
Rigjjr in brother thank you
Yooo! I was just clicking random recommended videos. YOU’RE ON MY NEIGHBORHOOD TRAILS! Parkwood babyyyy! Quality content from a fellow South Texan, that’s a sub from me. Cool to see Isaiah in the video, he’s always out on there sending that track! Im always riding and building on parkwood hill, maybe I’ll spot you out there sometime.
Lol l, yeah he is, he has put in the work for sure
great video dude
Thank you so much 😎🤘
Never knew there were two different kinds of bunny hops
Yup 👍
Thanks for posting duuude! I am not good enough to give any sort of tutorial yet but this and your other vid helped me get some more height! Once I get a bit better Im sure ill make some sort of hop vid of my own, may have to shout you out for the help if that's cool?
Right on the other anytime keep me posted on progress
Thanks this vid is gonna help me
Right on keep me posted on the progress
I see so many guys teaching to do a bunny hop, but they all seem to be teaching how to do it on a full suspension bike where you can compress your rear suspension to assist. I would love to see a video on how to bunny hop on a hardtail because it seems like it would be harder without the ability to compress a rear suspension. BTW love the channel and videos!
I’m trying to make something happen
Awesome vid , you gotta get Isaiah on the trails
🤘
Good instructional from a different point of view - thanks for the explanation! Just a tip - look at the camera lens, not the monitor so you're talking to the viewers. More power to you, man!
Thanks brothe t
Thank you for the info. I needed it.
Also, this is my first vid of yours that I have seen. I see you’re wearing a Havoc t-shirt. Where are you riding out of?
I’m ridding out of Texas but from SoCal. I know Paul he said I inspired him to start off in his new direction 🤘😎
Man you have nice ways to explain stuff appreciate it keep up the good work👍 Minor suggestions though, like other people said you could use music when only you don't talk so I'll be easier to follow what you're saying. Also I gotta say, looking to the viewfinder instead of directly to the lens makes me feel like you're talking to yourself not to the viewer. Cheers!
I know I’m working on both those things lol
I just literally jump my foot very lightly from the bike pedals while pumping and extending using my shoulders. Works for me but i’ll definitely try this one ☝🏻
Hell ya bro!!!
Good job .thanks
right on brother anytime
Good stuff I'm gonna be practicing tomorrow
Hell ya !!! Be careful 🤘🔥👏
@@MTBdropIN always man all I can do till this blows over good time to train I wanted to try a enduro race this year but have to see how things go with everything.
Seriously, literally everyone’s life has stopped!
Super sweet content.
Thanks brother
I need to spend a few days practicing my hops, been slacking.
Get her done 😎🤘
Here’s a take I’ve found helps when teaching/learning. As you do the L move, squash down then PUSH the bars as far away as you can without letting go and also give a push through your feet. Then pull back on the bars to help you jump up. Don’t forget to draw your feet up.
More tips. Thanks
More will be coming
Great job on the technique. And here I thought is was because I was overweight. Lol
lol, I have a friend who is 6 '2 and overweight and he was impressing me today after applying this.
@@MTBdropIN that's awesome. I'll work on it.
😎🤘
You deserve a sub, You are extremely underrated. No offence but most mtb tutorials are just telling the basics and ignores the important details
Dude thank you so much this means the world bro!
Good video and cool guy= subscribed🙂🙂
😎🤘 thanks bro
@@MTBdropIN No problem 👊👊
Totally agree, I coundn't fully extend my arms because I'm afraid of falling on my back. That's the main issue to get over.
It really is
The fact you know this kits you at the front of true class keep going
Great and cool tutorial., my question is. I have a correct angle and perfect timming to do the trick. The problem was., i had a hard time to send my weight forward.. pls give me a hint and tips...
Stand straight up while throwing your weight forward I would really have to see you, send me a vid on my Instagram
A lot of people just can't get the jump worked out once in manual position with front wheel off the ground (because it doesn't feel like a stable 2 wheels on ground balancing point). Try putting your front wheel up on a small wall or log and get used to that feeling and technique of launching up and forwards from that wheel raised, body weight low and back position. You'll start to figure out the balance between jumping forward OFF the bike, and jumping up and forward... then bringing the bike up with you by pulling/throwing arms up and forwards and scooping legs up also. Try watching some trials rider vids as they back hop up obstacles from static, or clear big rocks etc with front wheel already raised on top of rocks.
good knowledge.....but after the pull to behind the weight what the next steps to pull the back wheel up? love your tutorial..
As you stand straight up your feet will naturally switch there weight forward to level out the bike, you can’t stand straight up without send the weight of your feet forward
exactly my issue 🤣🤣🤣 scared to fall pn my back
tried this a few minutes ago with my clipon pedals, had a big crash. working on my own tutorial. best regards!
Lol, good luck!
Thanks for explaining! This helps so much
Just please make the music more silent in the parts where you're talking like you did at the end cause otherwise the music is too distracting and it's harder to hear
Other than that awesome video
awe I get mixed reviews on the music, some love it and some say what you say, I got to keep creating in a manner that I like, I can't get lost in the plethora of opinions. however, I really appreciate the feedback it is really helpful for me to get a feel for how I will continue and evolve as a creator ;)
Nice Vid, left a like...........btwz what camera did you use to shoot this (dope)
Cannon EOSR
Dropper seat post will be useful.
Yes it will
Great information and one question. I’m focused on arm extension and trusting my brakes. I’m having difficulty when I practice looping out with my feet getting stuck to my pedals. I have long pins in for increased grip. Thoughts?
👍🤗
Just found your channel, watched a couple vids and instantly subscribed!
Only thing I would want, is if you could look straight into the camera, instead of your screen.
Just imagine behind the lens is your friend, and you're talking to him, instead of trying to make sure that you look good on camera :P
You're a handsome dude, and if the shot was messed up, just reshoot it.
Working on it lol
Great tips! I subscribed. I have one question tho about what gear to be in. Idk if it matters but I’m a beginner so I just wanted to know.
Thanks brother appreciate it?

Great video man , this is going to help a lot. I would turn down the music a little bit though :)
TheLegend27 hey thank you for that feedback I really appreciate that. I always wonder about that
Mantap bosku
👍🤓
Found that using a curb helps me learn how to shift weight.
Dude that’s awesome
Thanks for the video man! I can do small hops now but when I try to do a bigger hop after the manual can’t get timing right and feels like I’m too far down and back to stand up.
Are you initiating shifting your weight forward and up after the manual with your legs/feet or or arms first? At the same time are you pulling on the bars to stand up?
No my weight sent back is pulling up the bars not my arms they are just holding on
MTBdropIN thanks. Yeah I’m more stuck in the second part after the manual lift... I can’t get the timing and motion right when you’re supposed to stand up
Now that you mentioned the helmet thing I realize that when I go mountain biking I wear a helmet, but when I ride BMX I don't.....😀
I guess BMX is just too cool for helmets!
Lol I know right ... two different cultures I guess
I find it's better to learn tricks/skill on a rigid bike. Much more control, smaller & lighter to learn on.
It’s probably true but can’t afford one I spent too much on a mountain bike 🤪
So I have never ride a mountain bike until this moment of my life right now. But I rode bicycle to go to school everyday growing up back home. I do jumps but I jump both tires at the same time lol. I have never seen anybody doing that. Now that I bough a MTB I can do the same little jumps I used to do as a kid but I can’t do bunny hump. Gonna try yours advices. Thanks.
🤘😎
I got over my fear my doing trying wheelie so now I need to wait till lockdown ends
go out away from people, ;)
well then again I don't know where you are from
Well I would but the police in my country will arrest people who go out without a good reason and plus my bike is in the shop
Gotcha and gotcha!!wheee you from?
MTBdropIN I’m from Malaysia and I’m 13
Try extending your arms WHILE keeping your legs bent. You’ll get wayyyyy more pop. It’l feel awkward at first, but that’s the way to do it. Extending your legs back like your doing puts your body too dark back and robs you of all the available mechanical energy to “jump”. Hope this helps.
Right on brother I’ll try it!
Right on man I’ll try it!
This video really helped me out. ua-cam.com/video/CYvkGlHYKtc/v-deo.html
sorry about my earlier comment. i thought u were the one teaching the bunnyhop until i saw the guy in the bmx. 😅
I’m the one teaching lol
Done subcribe 😊
Thanks brother 😎😂
Interesting concept of yours, I’m trying to learn how to manual and bunny hop and appears that I have been pulling with my back, because my back hurts like hell right now!
Oooh yeah I suggest ridding consistent mileage on a regular basis it will strengthen core as Nd alleviate back pain I used to have a ton of back pain
Easy to bunny hop on fs but On my hardtail I’m struggling maybe next make a video on how to bunny hop on ht?
Definitely possible
That could be due to different geometry which could not suit you or bunnyhops in general. Because me myself I was only doing bunnyhops on FS bike. 2 months ago I bought dirtjump hardtail bike with unusually long reach (dirtjump bikes are usualy very short) which suited me perfectly, I am tall (186 cm) and since DJ bikes are perfect for jumps I started to kill it in bunnyhops. It was so much easier than on enduro bikes and with half effort! I reccomend to buy aggresive geometry hardtail or even dirtjump bike to progress your jumping skills.
It also have to add, that HT bikes are easier to bunnyhop in general. You can be more precise with more rigid bike, it is also lighter (if you compare same frames, same geometries) and you waste less energy, since there is no suspension to eat your preloading energy
Petr38 maybe I should make a video and test this?
@@MTBdropIN yeah, you definitelly should!
I don’t know if I bunny hop correctly but I’ve been able to get my bike in the air since I was a kid. With suspension, without suspension, mtb, road bike, whatever. I suspect I do “English” but to hear that lots of people can’t do it at all is odd. Never would have thought.
It’s one of the most desired abilities that no many can do
never heard of the British or American bunny hop!! There's the right way and the wrong way that's it really. Not sure that example from you 1st mate was really a bunny hop! Thanks for the video though. Your "Jumps" video was good!
Yeah it wasn’t that’s why I showed it 😎🤘
Hey brotha u starting to look better.. ur weight is back up. Lis3 man my fiance left with my best friend took my daughter at least i thought she was. I went thru hell n back i thought i was never going to get over it... time, believe in God n as long as u got air in ur lungs n ur still alive anything n everything is possible. Stay up🙏🤟👍💪
wow man, im so sorry to hear this its a tragedy worse then death, but because of that its an opportunity to rise from the ashes a new creation strong then ever before. Stay strong brother!
I have been riding BMX since the early 80s. On a BMX bike I can bunnyhop no problem. On my current MTB bike its a DEFINITE no. I have watche Seth's, Phills, Alex's and Blake's videos on this subject. Still not bunnyhopping. Frame geometry I believe is my problem. Hopefully problem is solved with my next frame since my Specialized is more than 20yrs old :-)
Hmmm sounds like I may make a vid on that 😀
@@MTBdropIN it can also be my non adjustable very squishy fork that is not helping.
Yes and no technique over comes the bike most of the timeb😎🤘
Those old bikes had high top tubes, thus it's hard to lower the saddle enough for easy bunnyhops.
THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF BUNNY HOPPING IS NOT "HOW TO LIFT THE FRONT AND REAR WHEELS"...it's how you merge the two actions together so you could bunny hop...the pulling of the front and rear wheels are the easiest part..
So why there are so many tutorials on "how to bunny hop" and yet so many people still don't get it? Because most tutorials fail to mention the fact that IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY BUNNY HOP A BIKE, it requires three major aspects - SPEED, STRENGTH and FOCUS.
SPEED - one must learn how to connect both actions as fast as you can (must follow the proper posture too)...
STRENGTH - in order to do the SPEED aspect for the hop - CORE STRENGTH is needed to stand up and pull the handlebar toward your pelvis; STRENGTH is also needed to push the handle bar forward, after.
FOCUS - should be the first aspect to mention since a positive mind is greatly needed to do this. DON'T DOUBT; just try and try...FOCUS will also help you overcome PAIN from injuries that might happen while learning...pedal to shin injury is very common...ouch! :)
Is it worth it??? definitely :) Have fun!
Hi MTBdropIN Im a fan of yours, and i HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT JUMPING, IN WHAT POSITION DO i SET MY FRONT SUSPENSION i MEAN DO i PUT IT ON CLOSED, PEDAL, OR OPEN WHICH I HAVE 3 SETTINGS AND ON WHAT DO i PUT MY REBOUND THE SAME WITH MY REAR SUSPENSION IN WHAT POSITION DO I SET THEM. NOW i'M NOT TALKING ABOUT SAG
it doesn't matter, just don't lock them out. I run wide open sometimes and sometimes I don't, but anything is fine, just don't lock it out.
to me it appears like the first part of bunny hop, being the manual, is the most challenging one determining success of the rest. standing up afterwards is the easy part.
speaking of manual, I would say there are three steps
1) dropping the weight down, preloading the suspension
2) timing properly the initiation of the backwards L-shaped movement
3) extending arms thus going backwards enough
- everyone addresses the L shape and the backwards movement, and the bail-out practice
- I do not see any discussion on the preload part (as you said in your jump video, you gotta preload the fork as well, I feel its the same w manuals/bunny hops, so what do you actually preload. do you even have to preload your rear shock or do you drop your weight towards the bars rather)
- and I do not see any discussion in regards to timing, which of course is suspension dependent .but being slow definitely takes away the pop, hypothetically being too fast prob screws up too. when I practice I have like a metronome beep-beep in my head. however it's duration is purely based on my guess, what do you think about the timing ?
7:16 ... what suspension? :D
dude thank you for this awesome info
