Awesome. Can you please now do a video of how I convince my wife that I "need" a laser cutter!
If you use a small kerf offset for the pieces you inlay (making them slightly larger) they will fit much tighter eliminating the dark outilne from the superglue. This also means that you don't even really need a backer piece. You'll have to experiment with your exact laser module how much offset you need, but for me 0.07mm works quite well, at that point you barely need any glue to hold it together.
damn that looks fine, keep pushing forward Mark, can't wait to see how far you take it!
Very Cool ideas.Thank you for making this video.
Amazing result. And you get a fun jigsaw as well.
I used to program laser cutters in a previous life. Mostly 3 to 20mm steel and Stainless. Wish I could have done this. Thanks, Mark.
multi-color inlay looks great. Be careful when sanding as the dust from one color may get into the pours of another piece and suddenly the red has white spots all over it.
Beautiful!
That's such a great use for a laser, the stacking has much potential too. Oh, btw - Larch has been used traditionally in the UK for cladding buildings - so good for those outdoor guitar headstocks :)
Ha, I learn so much just from the comments.
Great neat job! I also want to do this kind of creativity. I wonder what the parameters of the diode laser module are (optical power, cut width, whether or not the cut is blown with compressed air)? Thank you!

very cool what were the power and time settings?
You never mentioned a kerf offset, did you use one?
I have an Ortur LM 3 as well. Just getting started with this. What settings did you use to get such a clean cut? Beautiful work.
I'd also like to know the settings for OLM3
Eventusally you will not get the settings as he probably thinks they are his testings and he doesn't want to share knowledge . What you can to do is experiment yourself and sooner or later not only you will get to cut clean without burnings but you will learn to use your software better.
Personally i believe that not answering this kinda questions from someone making this kind of video is not right.
Eventually all of us will get to do that. It's not top secret knowledge. There is not use of special equipment. Maybe air assistance at the most. Sharing knowledge in the community is a good thing.
But really.... I am wondering..... what is the use of this video if not sharing the way to do it? To brag?
When i get it dialed in, I will post my settings here. Just getting started, so the learning will be the juice for me. @@Thanospappy
After you placed the parts into the the bird, what liquid did you put on to make them stick? I really like this video, please keep up the great work!!!
Thin super glue. amzn.to/3GHYWf8
Hi sir, I am doing my marquetry using laser machine as well, may i know what is the best way to prevent the burn of the edge of the veneer, especially for lighter colour veneer
Air assist, and low power
Very hip.
