- Hello everyone!
Finally, the first live shot…
I never really got the chance to record some proper live footage, but since I had the honour to play at this years Brutal Assault as a session drummer for Monument of Misanthropy, I managed to bring some action cams and a pocket recorder.
The audio was recorded with a Yamaha Pocketrak W24, which I placed directly at the FOH. The kick is still a bit quiet, but I guess you can get an idea of the song.
Sorry for the bad audio quality though, but there’s definitely no “fix in the mix”-thing going on right here...
It‘s one thing to play fast stuff at home, while rehearsing or during a recording situation, but it‘s a total different thing to bring it to a stage. At least for me. I‘ve got to say that the MoM-material was really challenging (most of the songs I had to learn were at 260bpm; just like Killing Spree), so it was very exhausting to make it through the set.

I'm a drummer, and i played in a death metal band myself, in the late 80'ies and early 90'ies, seeing what these drummers do today, is just mindblowing.
At that time we did not even think that this speed was possible. David Diepold is my absolute favourite of them all. Good job David, keep them vids coming!
I'm not in a death metal band... I realised when Emperor's Imperial Ceremony Live came out in 2000 ish that there's absolutely no fuckin' way I'm ever gonna be able to do that! .. (I lived an hour from London at the time too, I could've gone!) So many amazing drummers, of whom David is one! Really tight here, awesome stuff.....p.s. I'm gonna get burns here I'm sure, but the logo has me rolling (extreme metal illegible logo stereotype)!

I think youtube has helped to bring drummung to new levels because drummers can now learn from each other much easier and share techniques,something you couldn't do back in the day.
I'm confused on the bass drums it looks look like the pedal goes side to side why? So it doesn't wear same spot on the drums?

I've been following/analizing you for couple of years and I can notice some change at your left hand technique for the fast notes, some info about, please! And it true, the fast shit live is challenging.
Cesar Quintero he was experiencing wrist pain/discomfort so he changed his left hand technique to “push/pull” which stems from the moeller stroke. You can search for both techniques

potatismos XVII i use it. And the great thing about it is it kind of “preps” the hand for when it’s ready to progress to straight finger technique
