thanks mate, i used to allways get caught out with the drop, i did learn to just try and cartwheel out of it (providing my opponent was smaller) but this just seems so much easier as its just griping. thanks again.
There is a very large blackbelt that really likes his drop seoi, and he lies to throw it so often (and sloppily) that you get shido'd going against him. What we found that worked best was a low grip, like bottom of the ribcage low, and when he tries to drop, just roll straight into a choke.
good vid, I'd also just say, if they are already in the drop knee, just stick the knee into the back and circle out. He's prob not gonna do it again in the match
well I like the drop seio nage :p But there are still other techniques. This is why we do judo, right? Unfortunately the competition rules keep away a lot of techniques, like variations of Kata Guruma. I believe it's a huge loss that they abandoned those by changing the rules years ago.

very good thats exactly how i taught my son , he never got thrown on a drop seoinage again .

Thanks..as a tall guy...i am constantly having guys drop under with the drop SN...
the short guys have the upper hand in the beginning. I'm right there too. harai goshi and uchi Mata are good throws for tall guys.
