    I didn’t notice the way you tightened the crank pulley up without the official torque multiplier and flywheel locked?

    • @sanumotorswithcharlie

      @@sanumotorswithcharlie I also worked for ford for over 20yrs and therefore know the correct way. I am assuming he’s just gunned it up to what he thinks is tight enough against the pin on the crank

    Do you have any idea how much miles/km was on this vehicle when the wet timing belt was replaced by yourself? And how bad was the belt condition?........Thank you.

    • @sanumotorswithcharlie
      @sanumotorswithcharlie  3 місяці тому

      I'm not sure about the mileage, this belt is not bad at all, i think a previous customer did it, before, the new customer doesn't have any records

    Typical Ford, make things as difficult as possible! Takes me back to my days as a mechanic in the early 70s, doing Pinto engine camshaft replacements (if they lasted a couple of years you were doing well). Ford's wonderful designers made them so you couldn't remove the overhead camshaft without taking the head off. SnapOn even made special banana shaped ring spanners so you could get at the bottom manifold nuts. They were heaps of crap then and are even worse now.

      Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like you've had quite the journey as a mechanic, especially with the challenges posed by certain Ford models. Your anecdote about the Pinto engine camshaft replacements is certainly illuminating. It's unfortunate when design choices create unnecessary difficulties for those working on the vehicles.
      While the automotive industry has undoubtedly evolved since the 70s, it seems some issues persist. Feedback like yours is valuable for highlighting areas where improvement is needed. Hopefully, manufacturers will continue to refine their designs to make maintenance and repairs more accessible for mechanics and owners alike.
      Thank you again for sharing your insights.

    Typical ford engineering, could not come with a easy better solution. Big job that is, in this case would have been good to install a genuine ford kit.
