This system makes me question every overland build I have seen. Holy cow this is incredible. The fit, form and function are perfect. The walls under the tent patio is brilliant! No awning to catch and tear while driving down the trails. Nothing hanging off the side of the trailer. Strong, light weight and meticulously crafted! Great job AT Overland!
Proud owner of a AT Habitat on a diesel RAM. It’s a tried and true design; that’s why it’s been around for so long. We optioned for artic tern window on drivers and passenger side, rear window, and front access window. A lot of room for our family of three (soon to be family of four) plus our two doggies. Interior room is unmatched by all other campers out there when fully opened (i.e., no need to set-up or move sleeping panels out of the way). Other camper configurations work for others respective needs. Our AT Habitat has and continues to provide our family joy and peace of mind when out on adventures. Lastly, Mario and AT stand by their products and provide customer satisfaction above and beyond.
Love watching Mario so passionately talk about his products. Your innovation and attention to detail really set AT apart from the competition. Happy to be a part of the AT Family.
It's a great video, what's missing is the link in the description so that we can click on the link and get directed to a website that gives us a price for the product.
This is a very informational video and I love seeing all the positive comments. That said I have something so juvenile to ask that I'm debating putting it on here. The question is this. I'm trying to figure out what advantages there are to this (at a very high cost) to putting a tent on the ground? Our truck camping set up now currently consists of a sleeping tent and two pop up tents (bought from Walmart) that allow covered and screened in cooking area and relaxing area. The truck bed is reserved for gear carrying and has a cover to it. I was really interested in looking at these until I really started thinking about what the advantages are versus the cost of 14K?
Great Demo!! I love this product. Will seriously consider this when I get my new 2025 or 2026 Tundra. I need to have access to all the features of the original bed, which I do with this product- some bed covers do not. I'd be interested to know if flip-up windows on the side come in a non-see through or utility option.
Great tent setup. A couple more pole to stable it rather springing up an down?🎉🎉🎉big plus for the floor tent🎉🎉🎉do you have one like this for Jeep Wrangler ?🎉🎉🎉
Nice unit if you have a pickup. You use to have one of these that you had mounted on a Jeep but I no longer see that in your videos unless I’m missing it. Want something like this for my 1997 Land Cruiser. Guys I’ll need to build my own from fiberglass or carbon fiber. I need to visit your website to see where yours at in Oregon. Home I’d in eastern Idaho but used to live in Oregon.
A few adventurous folks have gone through the effort of flipping their Habitat for that reason. I originally thought of doing that, but after mounting a Frontrunner roof rack (recovery gear, spare parts, extra water/fuel), I decided I like my Habitat exactly as it is.
I think there is an issue with the vehicle, not the habitat, and not solely the Tacoma either; so many have soft suspensions nowadays. The habitat may hold 600 lb, but when you pulled on the lip (
I had the same thought, and immediately imagined a simple scissor jack mounted to a receiver hitch that could be inserted once all is deployed for stabilization.
The cost of those windows are so astronomical it’s offensive, $5-$800 each, such a ridiculous price. It would really be a feat for a company to make an affordable camper, that would really be interesting.
Fantastic!! Question: does the tailgate in the down position interfere with the fold down table tops laying flat on the swing-away, or is it just the camera angle?
I presently use one of Hest’s sleeping pads when camping because my back is in pretty rough shape… is it possible to replace the existing mattress in this unit (or your others) with something like that or should I just settle for a topper of some kind?
Yes. Those flip-open topper tent is the bomb. I don't think I'd mind one that was clankier, and didn't rely on gossamer-thin gas struts. Just looks like an obvious point of failure. Maybe that bit's just a little too fussy for hard use by people who had a beer before setting up the sleeping quarters. Something simple, mechanical, and bulletproof. Have some kind of hook or loop on top, at the front, and maybe a slot at the hinge, where you can fish a long pole from the back to the front, with a ring or hook at the end to snag the loop or hook on the front. Then with the long pole extended out about as far from the truck as the topper is long, bear down on the end and lift the front of the topper. Once it's close to half way, the weight's off it. But your gas struts are at a mechanical disadvantage, and I can see the thing breaking if I'm the one using it. I looked really hard at some of the Australian tent trailers that folded open on a hinge the same way. Properly executed, they are the slickest tent setups, and you double or triple the footprint. I've seen them triple the footprint by folding out in more than one direction. I have an offroad teardrop camper on order, so of course I start seeing these camper ideas. The main reason I didn't go with a truck camper was I like to operate out of a base camp for a few or several days running, and you can't do that with a tent sticking out the top. That's why I'm also more partial to the idea of parking adjacent to or under a decent free-standing shelter.
The big problem with these is that once you've set up camp your car is now useless. You are stuck there. Plus all the hassle of setting them up in the first place
Looks like the base price is $14k. Not cheap, but it certainly offers some luxuries if you are camping often in remote areas. They don't list the weight.
Incredible! Can you close the tailgate and the rear hatch once inside? Just thinking about the bugs from the bottom floor panels, or am I missing something?
Yes. I've had a Habitat on my F350 for 4 years, love it. Everything closes up from the inside. I do a lot of solo travel for work and often stealth camp using the truck bed floor (6.75 ft.). Because I have some gear cabinetry, I have 31" (width) of space remaining, perfect for various air mattresses.
Very nice! Not too sure about the vestibule though. You need to go back to the drawing board on that one. I like the awning part but there is a lot of wasted space with the angled walls and the entry is a terrible design.
wow that setup is crazy, you have thought of everything, you should have just thrown in a cook and maid to clean 😅. Do you make things like this for the Tundra trucks?

Crazy how different camping gear is in the USA then Australia. Please don't try and launch this product in Australia it wouldn't go well. We have substantially better products for far less money lol
This has to be the best product demo I’ve seen on YT. Low key, no hype, complete explanation of all features, methodical. Very well done, indeed. 👍

Different strokes for different folks.
Thanks
That's some good work.
Very interesting 👍
They should add 2 support beams or adjustable sticks or poles on both corners of the rear of the tent bed for shock so it won’t snap in half.,
Not a single one has snapped in half since 2016...

Wondering if there are alternatives to that vestibule but with some windows and mosquito nets?
Not at this time. Great idea though!
Thanks for showing the vestibule. Mom and two girls can sleep up top and dad and the boy can sleep in the vestibule on cots or swags.
Genius!
Where can I buy one near Vancouver, Washington
Our dealer in Bend Oregon can certainly help you out! You can find their contact info at this link: oregonat.com/
That is awesome
I love the craftsmanship! would be great to see that applied to a Rivian R1T...
Does the cab have pass through window to front cab?
Pass through, no. There is an option for a slider window though.
Nice for fair weather but i dont know about downpour rain, thundetstorm, winds, etc.. Pretty pricey for what it is as well.
Would be perfect if it flipped over the cab, like a FlipPak. Hopefully y'all make one of those someday.
A few adventurous folks have gone through the effort of flipping their Habitat for that reason. I originally thought of doing that, but after mounting a Frontrunner roof rack (recovery gear, spare parts, extra water/fuel), I decided I like my Habitat exactly as it is.
Freaking slick...WOW
Propane and gasoline sitting exposed on the rear of the vehicle - what could possibly go wrong?
that looks almost exsacly like the camper i built for my international scout ii about 10 years ago
That's very nice can that topper be installed on a 2008 Toyota tundra and about how much does it cost thanks
以前的丰田地球流浪者是这个样子的掀顶👍。
It would be nice if the add a small carabiners on those little loops so that you can hang things easier.
Quite nice but I see a number of areas for great improvement.
Nice! Is it possible to make a pass through allowing passengers getting into the he cabin from the driving cab?
Think I found my camper for some traveling cross country. Is there a bug screen for the truck bed area(tailgate area)?
Yes, a rear bug screen is available
Now make one for a crewcab short bed flatbed!!!

THats nice
So you’re trying to say is I can’t go to Pound town lol
Hello camper, it was a nice post. Is there a production video of this tent? Greetings from Turkey, welcome to my off road channel GT 4X4
Can it be had with a Webasto diesel heater?
How difficult to remove the unit. Only need it on when using rest of time it needs to come off.
Does AT make an attachment privacy to close in the truckbed for addl sleeping space in the truckbed?
Yes
I'd like to see how it does in a 30+ moh wind
Quite well actually. XOverland used the Habitat in harsh Yukon conditions and we have tested to 50 mph in DV.
How much weight can the cantilevered part in the back take? Looks pretty dicey lol
600 lbs

what is the reason for the heater to be install on the side without window ?
( if the window not on use/ closed, what is the problem? )
There is not enough room for both the heater and the window on the same side.
Cool, it’s hard to believe it’s 600 lbs at that distance? Plus, the gasoline can near a stove area is bad! I guess you just put water there instead.
The cost of those windows are so astronomical it’s offensive, $5-$800 each, such a ridiculous price. It would really be a feat for a company to make an affordable camper, that would really be interesting.
High quality double pane windows with built in blinds and screens windows are not inexpensive. We will not skip on quality.
What happens when my drunk neighbor is looking for the bathroom and trips on those poles sticking out of the side and domes himself on the truck.
