How many hours is on that tractor? When I bought a new holland ts6 and a massey 7616 brand new they both threw poor def quality codes within the first several hours of use... drain it out and put fresh stuff in. Don't think condensation is a thing for that, i keep the def tank on the 7616 at around a 1/3 full all winter long to prevent any bulging issues on teh tank if the def freezes. That's interesting the Maintenance manual doesn't have error codes listed. The catch bottles are great for knowing if an outer oring is bad in the couplers.
A guy I used to work for had a 4710 just like yours and i swear it spent more time being worked on over def issues than it did in the field doing work... Not trying to talk a brand down but so far the New Holland powerstar 100 I have hasn't had any trouble and uses way less def than the Massey Fergusons.
Time will tell on when or if I have anymore issues with it. I found a place in Texas that can make the system go away but I’m not risking voiding my warranty unless it cost me to much downtime
I've got a 4710 its a 2017 I've had def issues for the last 2 years I'm getting ready to head to the dealer about 100 mi away to have some codes cleared I don't know if I'm going to keep this tractor or not but they sure are a pain in the butt.
I have really been wanting a 4707 with dayna 2 can’t find any around me though one dealer close has 20 on order but Massey just told them they were not going to be shipping any of the ones they ordered with the dayna 2 trans. So I talked to another dealer and he said they were having some issues with the dayna 2 trans that’s why they were not shipping them out right now. Wish they would get it figured out because i sure want one. They have a few showing up next mounts without the dayna 2 but I really want the dayna 2.
That’s pretty much how it was around me. I had to drive 2 1/2 hrs away to get this tractor which they only had 2 in stock. I hope they aren’t having issues with that trans because it’s similar to the Dyna 4 and Dyna 6 which has been around awhile now.
The only two I know of is Blackland equipment in Temple and Three Rivers in Granbury. I keep getting the same DEF quality error code every once in a while. I’ll drain the tank and refill but it’s getting old. This last time I flushed the tank with distilled water and blew it out with air before refilling it with fresh DEF. It seems to occur more often with the cooler morning temperatures
I had an issue with the def system on my T5.120 after letting it warm up, too… the dealer told me not to let it idle at lower rpm as it could cause an exhaust build up and it would temporarily derate the engine. Something to consider as well.
@@CenTexAg the engines need to get up to operating temp and pulling until it starts to inject def into the system... if putzing around too much or low engine speed (or plain short periods of run time) will cause codes to pop up saying to run the engine above a certain rpm. I don't think it derates the engine right away, I think it goes on a timer at that point for something like that, but only get like 3 engine restarts if the error reoccurs and will fully derate the engine and that requires a service call.
It's brilliant right? Create emissions to reduce carbon foot print of said machine and the same emission system won't run properly if your not wide open burning tons of unnecessary fuel putting more carbon into the air..... makes so much sense
My workmaster already had the flip open caps which are nice but I never could find an oil catch bottle for them. The premium tractors like T5 or T6 may have one which you could probably make it fit on the Workmaster. Just have to do some research
I haven't had any issues out of the DEF system on mine and hope I never do. For the remote cap kit I ordered kit # ACW051169A It puts the catch can bracket on the stud above the one yours mounted on and really gets it up and out of the way of everything.

If they wear to a point where they get deep grooves.... they could become a bitch to replace..... We traded for a use 459 J D baler and it took us 6 hours to replace the pins....
That’s awfully nice of you! It’s mainly coastal in my larger fields (30 to 40acres) and Klein native mix in my smaller ones. I’ll check out Outkast Farms thanks. I think the dealer threw some new pins in it because they dont look worn. I do have a new set of belts I’m going to install soon so we will see how it goes. The manual calls for mini roughtop belts but I bought roughtop hoping it will help the bale formation get started easier. It’s to long to explain on here but when I make the video of the replacement I will explain then. Thanks again

I'm glad it wasn't anything major. Nice looking hay Chris!

It’s got 39 hrs. It seems draining the DEF and adding a fresh bottle has fixed it. Good idea on keeping it 1/3 full.

Yeah it sucks getting a warning light out of nowhere.

They help with the DEF system ;)
Can't you just get a 4707 and tune it?
@ln5747 yes but the 4707 has egr. So it runs dirtier than the 4710 which is scr only. Makes it easier to do the weight reduction and tune

Having def issues again on our MF. I’m in central Texas also and have not had much luck with dealers. Do you have a good one?

Thanks for the reply! Do you have a way I can contact you direct? I’d love to visit about these issues as ours went into limp mode on me this weekend.

That’s pretty much what I did (let it idle to warm up). I have to remember to bump up the rpm’s from now on. Thanks for the info

The only way to run these engines with def is wot. No putting around in them.

That’s good to know. My kit didn’t have any instructions so maybe that’s where it’s suppose to mount. Good info thanks

That's one reason I don't own any new tractors. Not a fan of DEF. Prefer older tractors without the emissions control bs.
Yes sir I completely understand.
